i bought the 5870 yesterday from 9289… now this happens! after thinking about it, i think i'll use one card with 3 monitors as the heat output from an sli gtx470 will be too much
really? the 470 is a bit better than the 5850 plus further driver updates should see a 5-10% increase in performance.
there are plenty of reasons someone would choose the 5850 - eyefinity is still the easiest way for a 3 monitor setup, the 470 uses lots of power and thus creates a mass of heat and the 5850 is a lot easier to overclock.
the gtx470 is good for the CUDA and PhysX (even though I've only ever seen PhysX add minor details - I'm sure it will become more useful soon). Due to the much higher heat levels put off by a GTX470, I'd be worried about lifespan from heightened levels of thermal wear as well.
from waht i've heard the GTX470 performs lots better at 1080p and lower resolutions, and the 5800 series performs better above 1080p. So GTX470 is good for most people with normal monitors.
3 monitors with one card = eyefinity
3 monitors on nvidia = sli gtx400 or gtx200yeah im not going to use 3 monitors…

i've got a 23" dell monitor that im using for my setup.
The 3d and physx will be useful for me as i do alot of multimedia like video rendering as well as gaming.
for me this is a top purchase.and for $369 it's an amazing price!

I am not happy at all with this company, you must have your paypal account verified 3 weeks has gone by and not any info from the company.

The reason why we will ask our customer to verify the account with PayPal it's because we want to reduce our work load and cost to bring our product price down for everyone.
If you verify your account with paypal which mean we don't have to spend our time to check your credit card information. Believe or not there are lot of people try to use someone credit card on paypal to purchase online.
But after they purchase PayPal will charge back from us. because it is unauthorized transaction.
That is our risk from paypal and credit card, And the risk it's cost.

I have used paypal for years now and never thought to verify my account never caused any dramas, issue i have now is i have changed my name since my paypal account was created so now my bank account name wont match my current pay pal account name!

@wjd85: I HAVE a verified paypal account and they still have not processed my order for the Samsung 1TB HDD from a couple of weeks back… Even after I purchased an SSD from them they still insist that my paypal account is unverified.
Their customer service is ridiculous, it takes 2 days for a response which still does not get the problem sorted.
Although they provide good prices they definitely need to bring their customer service up to a half reasonable standard…

When I emailed and enquired I got a day turnaround on the answer.
Getting verified takes up to 3 days. Then I emailed advising them it was.
Another day turnaround for an answer and it was shipped.
Farken hell, your getting good prices, you have a rep that comes on and actually answers your questions and your giving grief? They arent farken mind readers you know?

@Noonoo: Only since i complained on here did i get a response to the email i sent monday. nearly 3 weeks passed while i waited for delivery of my blu-ray drive, with no reponse from the company regarding my "UNverified" status.

Because the customer service guy thought that our system has already email out an email about the verification with paypal.
Then They can just sit there and wait the customer do the verification.
Finally we figure where the provlem is, Our manager already have some action with that.
I think this kind of issues will be solve in the future.

While i have received an email from the company today saying i need to verify my account. how on earth can u take the money out of my paypal account when the terms and conditions state that the account must be verified.That should be PayPal's fault and not pricesengine's as I don't think PE takes the money out of your account, paypal does then they pay PE.

Synthetic benchmarks are good for comparison, compared to some 'real life' scenarios, they aren't accurate.

What do people buy good video cards for nowadays? Most games can be run perfectly on much lower end cards so what do u do with all this video processing power?

also the gtx470 is 3D capableI paid $200 for a factory overclocked "GeForce 8600 GTS" (it'd be 10-20% better than on the chart) and that was a GOOD price, I think that was the start of 2008. I paid $90 at the start of this year for a ATI 5670 which is basically double the power. While the 8600 will still play pretty much all games at good settings, the 5670 can go even further quality wise especially on newer/more graphical/poorly programmed games. Take an even better card, and you can run say flight simulator over multiple monitors on quality settings with just 1 card.
Just because old stuff 'works' doesn't mean it's not worth spending a hundred or two bucks for something good. The same reason once they made an engine that goes 100km/h they didn't just stop making better ones, given no-one (technically/legally) should need any more speed.
People buy decnt video cards cause they want all the bells n whistles.
They dont want it to just run the game with watered down graphics and effects.I pair up a 5870 + my U2711 and the visual display is amazing. As its intended.
I like everything maxxed out in settings. Take Bad Company 2 for example.
I want to see every speck of dirt in the sand, every leaf falling of the tree, actual weather effects rather than just blobs of pixels.
At the resolution some people play at especially with the eyefinity crase at the moment, you need the processing grunt.But everyone is in each of there own price bracket/decision
