ZTE Zip 4G from Coles at $29.50, Limit 1 Per Customer [Optus Prepaid]

150

Guess it's the cheapest 4G phone available in market. Grabbed one as a backup phone at ~$40 from target a month ago. Good phone for its price.

If you need to unlock, contact bagman, it costs $3.

For unlocking, use this site or contact bagman. You get the code in 2 hours. I don't remember the exact amount, but it's under $3.

  • 4" ….

  • Good price

  • My comment is not about this specific add but in general. What's the big deal about having 4G on a phone? In this price range you are fine with 3G, it's not like you are going to download TB's while on the move and for pretty much everything else 3G is good enough on a back up phone.

At 3:30pm where I live the 3G network grinds to a halt due to school children? Doesn't recover till after 6pm. Do not have the same issue with 4G.

I'd suggest lower res pics of them.

I find the opposite on Telstra I have mine locked on 3g as it really quick.

    • +1

You can use it as a 4G hotspot, if in need? Anyways which other 3G phone is in this price range?

      Huawei Y560 3G $129
      Telstra Slim Plus 3G $79
      Vodafone Smart Mini 7 3G $69

Or do you mean Telstra Cruise at $29?

any cons using it on telstra or vodafone?

Splash screen won't match your provider.

    • Well it won't work (in many places) with Voda. No 850Mhz band on 3or4g

      Here's the specs
      http://www.ztemobiles.com.au/ZIP.htm

      • I can confirm this works with Voda in Sydney CBD and Inner West. Used my sim in this one when my Note edge was in service.

        • Yeah it'll work for some areas (where it shares towers with Optus 900/2100mhz 3g & 1800mhz 4g) but overall coverage will be limited.

Got this last week from kmart for $29 if it's still reduced and you want to save that extra 50c

    • Still $29 at Kmart at Ingle Farm in South Australia - thanks :)

  • Just bought the last one from OW Malaga (WA) after price match+5% off.

  • When a phone, like this one, is locked to Optus, can I use it with the MVNO that is renting Optus network (like Amaysim, Jeenee,…)?

    • yes

  • The zip constantly had 1 bar of signal when our other phones had 3 on Hamilton island.

  • Grabbed one. Thank you.
Went to Seven hills Coles. Plenty in stock and no question of retail limit.

    • None left now with a comment like that lol :P

      • it is a good punishment (aka replacement) phone to someone who lost his mobile. :-P lol

  • Does this work for Pokémon? Looking for a cheapie for my youngen.

Despite being newer than the Fit Smart and running Android 5.1 it's a much cheaper-feeling plasticky design. Thanks to the smaller size and light plastic it feels a lot lighter though (which is only bad in that you won't feel it fall out of your pocket). It's almost impossible to type on the screen if you have the slightest amount of moisture on your fingers or fat fingers, so a Swype keyboard is essential (e.g. Google keyboard, which keeps turning off randomly for some reason). The speakers seem a lot worse as well.

A weird bug is that sometimes no text will appear when you're typing. But Google Maps crashes less often than it did on the Fit Smart.

  • Silly question, but what does unlocking the phone do?
Would you still need to buy a sim card?

    • Unlocking means you can use it with other network providers.
You can then buy a sim card of your choice.

  • Does anyone know if this phone can be rooted, and if any custom ROM like Cyanogenmod available?

  • Hi sorry for silly question but can this phone be used overseas like US or India or Asia if unlocked. Thanks
