Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 700 - 12" 2-in-1 Laptop/Tablet (Intel M5, 8GB, 256GB SSD) ~ $917.99 Delivered with PayPal @ Centrecom

400

Dicksmith has the same grey market product for similar price ($899 excluding shipping) whilst this one is legit local product (hence TRS is applicable).
https://www.dicksmith.com.au/da/buy/lenovo-ideapad-miix-700/

I believe miix 700 is suitable for your parents / children because:
- Lightweight (1.08Kg)
- 3:2 screen ratio. Miix 510 (newer) has a 16:10 scren ratio.
- USB 3.0 (instead of Type C), to connect to old school USB thumb drive
- Solid hinge (Lenovo's hinge is better than ASUS Transformer with the magnet)

Will report back once I receive the item.

NB - For comparison, Harvey Norman has the lower spec one for $999:

Thank you.

If anyone interested I got the 4GB/128GB version for $750 during one of the ebay 20% off sales last month. Have been using it for few weeks now. Here is my short review

    Pros:
    1. Great design and light weight (Chinese brother of Surface Pro)
    2. Good quality screen
    3. Fantastic keyboard and pen
    4. Able to play games like World of tanks blitz, Asphalt 8 airborne at 50-60 FPS without much heating
    5. Good battery life. Getting up to 4 hours of video streaming

    Cons:
    1. Comes with a lot of bloatware
    2. Had couple of OS crashes (blue screen of death). Not sure if it is a hardware or software issue.
    3. The touchpad at times jumps all over the place, especially when you use two fingers. Not a big issue though.
    4. The screen and even the back of the body is a fingerprint magnet.
    5. Only two USB ports and one of them will be connected to the charger for most of the time. If you use the second USB port for holding the pen (yes it comes with a plastic pen holder that goes into USB port) you will be left with no other free ports.

    Hope that helps.

    • Thanks for the info, can we remove the boatware?

      • +2

Yes you can simply uninstall it but not sure if it affects the warranty in any way. Also if you are purchasing this make sure to check the warranty. The warranty for mine started in Jan 2016 itself, the day they shipped it out of the factory apparently. I contacted Lenovo and they corrected it after I shared the purchase receipt.

      • I got a HP all-in-one back in May and all I did was re-install Windows by wiping the Hard Drive clean. Since Windows 10 activates with a digital licence, all you have to make sure is that the version of Windows you are installing is the same that came with the laptop.
Once in Windows every single driver was picked up by Windows update and everything works fine. All the bloatware is 100% gone (All that's from HP that is :P).

I don't know what this does to my warranty. I don't really care, but I really doubt it does impact warranty.

    • reviews on the internet pretty much echos your comments.
Slight slower than pro 4 but comes all the accessories

      • Yes but I think it's faster than the Core M3 version of Surface Pro 4 and cheaper. Also another thing I liked about it is it ha no fan as it runs on the M series processor. Which means noise free operation.

        • Oh how I love fan free computing. Music to my ears.

      • is the pen included or optional ?
I know the keyboard comes with it

        • Pen is included

          I have a pen
          I have a lenovo

          uh

      • And much cheaper!!

    • Thanks for your review. That really helped.

4-hours of battery life is quite bad imho compared to 9 hours advertised. What level of brightness did you use for video streaming?

Although it's a Windows device, it's in tablet form factor, do you turn it off or hibernate it when not in use? or can we just put it in sleep mode or turn off the Screen like a Android tablet (how this affects battery life)?

  • This comes with keyboard & stylus? I can't find anything about it in the specs.

    Nice device for the price

    • Yes keyboard and pen are part of the package by default.

  • got a 4g 128g version for 680 from amazon, so far so good, u can speed it up by intel software.

    • Care to share details?

I think double the ram and storage are worth the upgrade.

      • True. Similar spec ideapad at SE is $999 plus delivery.
Edit: Other big difference with SE is Win 10 Pro. Centrecom one has Win 10 home.

Does anyone know if we can replace the SSD and RAM. In that case buying the cheaper one will be good and you can upgrade later.

        • No one upgrades anything these days, simply not worth the effort and investment.

        • You can replace/upgrade the SSD, but not the RAM.

  • What's the difference between the Dick Smith version and this version? Will one be slower than the other? I'd rather go in store and pay cash than deliver it.

    Thanks!

    • DickSmith is gold colour and grey import (from HK). Both are online though (I live in NSW) as DickSmith is now an online business. Both are the same specs.

    • You do know Dick Smith stores all closed and Dick Smith online is just a rebadged Kogan?

  • Page not found now.

    • Thanks, seems like item is sold out, listing has been updated. Cheers.
