  • great phone @ great price only gripe is why ZTE scrapped the onscreen navigation buttons. The mini has it! The offscreen buttons doesn't even light up.

    HiFi Fingerprint Scanner

That must be why it's so expensive

I believe the AXON 7 that Gearbest is selling does not support OTA which means it's possible the phone will not receive any updates. This is in addition to the bloat and Chinese apps they will have on it.

JB HIFI will be selling this for $699 in a few weeks time.

    • How do you know jb will start selling this?

You've been able to buy locally for some time now, directly through ZTE Australia. Gold only for some odd reason.

That is what I thought when I pulled the trigger, but the "gold" version I got from Gearbest definitely support OTA. Got an update (B08) which included Dec16 Android security updates just prior to Christmas.

    • Correct. From 14 January JB will stock the A7, includes passport service as well.

You can save 7% buy purchasing JB gift cards from here. I have done so and total cost comes down to $605.07, less if your heading overseas with the TRS. (Approx $580)

Gold is the standard colour and Gray is a feature colour, which is why it's only available now.

You can find out more by going to the Facebook pages of ZTE Australia or US.oads more info as to why the delays for the AU version.

I'm sticking with local stock due to issues from sites such as GB and Android Enjoyed.

Great phone apart from some software quirks… Been using it since August.

  • Anyone who has one, how is the Wifi and LTE performance?

Reportedly in the original firmware, it was bad. Some are now reporting that a recent update fixed or helped, but I'm trying to find first hand evidence.

For example, this thread on a ZTE forum: https://community.zteusa.com/thread/11464?start=180&tstart=0

Have had no issues with the LTE performance at all. I'm on Aldi (Telstra) and just did a speed test - DL is 57Mbps and UL is 11 Mbps.

      • Thanks. I assume you have the A2017G model? How do you find wired headphones. Some are/were complaining that the EU legal limit really affected the quality of the sound through wired headphones, especially high impedance ones. https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/help/vs-eu-global-ve…

Mind you, I could be just trying to talk myself out of these.

        • +1

I do have the A2017G model. Haven't noticed any issues re: the sound but I don't necessarily listen to very loud music.

Looks like pricing continues to improve, might be a good handset to watch

Excellent deal, and I'd much rather deal with Amazon than GearBest for warranty. Expiring this post…
