First hand experience - battery last for 15 or so hours of extensive use (lots of calls 4+ hrs and on top of this - web browsing). Note that the phone is QC3 so recharges very quickly.
I read the reviews about the camera too prior to purchasing, IMHO low light photos are fine, took quite a few during NYE fireworks.
have you tried other 3rd party camera apps to see if it improves things abit?
Yes, a couple of apps but I did prefer the ZTE supplied app. The phone also comes with OIS, which in my opinion is a bonus.
@homersyd: I didn't notice any difference. I don't think the pix are bad in the first place. With OIS and the ability to use manual settings it is very good.
But, hey that's just me.
Another big pro is the SD card slot.
Its an awesome phone for the price. Don't forget the high end audio chip. Only other phone that has it is v20. Great first post.

In Germany you get 24 months warranty by law.
Probably have to send it back to Amazon Germany though, but they are pretty good in dealing with warranty cases.
Also free 30 days change of mind returns with full refund (also by law).

Is the battery removable? If so, I would just send it back without the battery and explain why.
Battery isn't removable without taking apart the phone which would void warranty anyway :(

DHL has a long and confusing article about Lithium batteries. If I understand it right, you can send them, as long as they are installed in the phone and there are no more than 2 in a parcel:

I think they mean claim an income tax deduction, not a GST input tax credit.
VAT/GST is different to income tax. If he's using it for business purposes then the value/depreciation of the phone could be deducted from his income for the year reducing his income tax bill. The lack of GST should be irrelevant I believe…
Yes of course, you just couldn't claim gst if you were abn as there isnt any.

Can I ask , this dual sim can have dual 3G, 4G stand by ? In the past only one 3G, 4G active and the other is 2G only , now 2G is being phased out in Australia , I need one sim for data 4G and other for calling , thanks.

The A2017G model definitely has 4G with 3G standby. I replaced my OnePlus 2 with this phone just for that reason. The Whirlpool wiki confirms it too.

Good choice. I owned a G5 for a while and I really didn't like it at all. In contrast the Axon 7 has a nicer (IMO) AMOLED display, front-facing stereo speakers, an awesome DAC (for a phone) and it really doesn't skimp on anything where it counts.
And as a bonus the Axon 7 is almost certainly going to receive a Daydream-ready certification from Google some time within the next month, which means that with the coming Nougat update you'll be able to use the Axon 7 to experience high-quality mobile VR with the Daydream View headset :)
Phew… Even after purchasing I was still wondering if I made the right choice, I heard there are some radio problems. Glad to hear I chose the better phone though.
I'd take the G5 all day.
I wouldn't pay $500 for a phone with a sub par camera. That's just me though, I'd rather a phone I can take the best quality photos with as I don't carry another camera.

The only version of the Axon 7 that is covered under warranty in Australia is the version that ZTE are currently selling directly for $699.00 (and will be available from JB Hi-Fi for the same price later this month).
From what I know, German warranty is actually more extensive (or at least on par) than Australian warranty.

Shipping back would be around $20, so not terrible. By German law, the retailer is required to pay postage for warranty cases, although not sure if that applies for international. Amazon tends to be pretty good with warranty cases though, so chances are they would even pay for the postage.

Checked Australia post and standard parcel for around 500 grams (phone is 150g) is like $28 to Germany with estimated delivery of ~6 business days. Includes tracking however damage coverage and other features cost extra.
You'd probably have to pay for return shipping as well as the german ZTE page says they do complimentary return shipping to German addresses only. However maybe going through Amazon might get you something better.
Small satchel (up to 500g) is starting at $28.48 from Sydney 2000, insurance for $480 is $19.60, signiture is $4.99 (probably not needed for a non-Paypal transaction)… so it is $48.08 for insured delivery without signature.

Didn't notice the battery restriction, that's pretty critical as you can't really take the battery out of the phone and then send it off for repair.
So basically unless someone can find a different way of sending the phone to Germany you can't really claim warranty at all…

AusPost wont allow it if you're only shipping a naked battery. Batteries become dangerous when they get punctured so they don't ship them just in case the packaging gets damaged. If the damage has to go through a post packaging, the product box and a phone chassis then I'm sure you're good to go.

This phone doesn't even have the latest Qualcomm chip
IIRC it has the latest chip at time of launch which was in July 2016. The Pro chips only started sampling in Q3 2016.
EDIT: ZenFone 3 Deluxe by Asus was the first phone to use the 821 chip. This was released in October if my Google Fu is working as intended.

I can't imagine a single scenario in which it would matter that you had an 821 instead of an 820. Only the upcoming 835, which we probably wont see in an actual product until April at the earliest (which you can probably expect to pay $1100+ for), is going to be significantly better.

I'm in the same boat. Loved my G4 for a lot of reasons which made me want the G5 but this phone and this deal was too good to go past. Was tossing up between the axon, one plus 3t and the G5. This happens to have everything I wanted and much cheaper.
Loved my G4 too…but yes bootloop as well…the only thing is I'm worry this is not as good as the G4's camera…it was amazing especially low light shots!!

Perusing the dedicated Axon 7 subreddit indicates the closing of apps when turning the screen off is fairly common although rebooting the phone seems to be a common fix that lasts for a few days. Some also seem to have luck playing with the app-specific power management settings.

I bought a lenovo from chinese stores, as only the chinese models comes with 3gb instead of 2gb RAM but so far its working properly with the chinese ROM although there are some drawbacks. If you plan to flash it, then its fine.

This is a great looking phone… but I am curious about people's thoughts on the "hybrid SIM" slot on this and other dual SIM devices?
I presume people arent bothered about sacrificing the 2nd SIM for SD expansion (or have no need for a 2nd, this is a great phone for single SIM users too obviously), but I would like both dual SIM (Telstra business + Amaysim personal SIMs) and SD storage. For this reason, I had a LG G4 (H818P from UAE) with the dual SIM + SD, which unfortunately started bootlooping recently. The AU LG V20 sitting at couple hundred above this ZTE is not a great competitor in price (great specs though), plus I'm reluctant to go LG again (obviously!).
There are a reasonable amount of dual SIM devices, with separate SD .. but then there's non-AU stock/warranty, band 28, etc etc plethora technical specs to compare.
Anyway, just interested in people's use cases for these hybrid SIM products.

I was previously thinking about getting this but increasingly leaning towards the LeEco Le 1 Pro (X800), which can be had for ~$270 AUD on Aliexpress after cashback.
Snapdragon 810 instead of 820, also weaker GPU.
Lacks B28.
No SD card slot (still dual SIM though), the main drawback for me.
Lacks the front facing speakers.
Would imagine the camera is not as good.
Otherwise, same 2K resolution, up to 64GB internal. However, the upside is it also has excellent headphone out quality (see Head-Fi), and the DAC / AMP has better integration with 3rd party apps (natively works with everything). I have read the Axon 7's discrete DAC will only work with certain audio apps and will otherwise default to the in-built (inferior) Snapdragon one. LeEco has newer phones with the latest chips but unfortunately they've gone headphone jack-less and no longer offer exception headphone out quality.
Anyway food for thought. Still might jump on this deal as it's the cheapest B28 supporting option I've seen for this phone. Also worth seeing if any new models are announced in the next couple of days during CES 2017.
SD 810 is a nightmare no matter how much you try to tweak it with different roms and kernels and optimizing governor, etc. it overheats and drains battery because of the octacore. Currently have an HTC One M9 and was looking to get rid of it for the Axon 7

Google might be your friend, just type in 6p throttle and you'll see.
In terms of not noticing, you're not noticing doesn't mean it's not there, your phone doesn't run on 100% all the time until you do something that's power hungry… The problem with 810 is that it doesn't handle high performance that well and generates a lot of heat, so most manufacturers throttled it to reduce overheating, but it will just end up having significantly reduced performance.
Just to chip in - I was in the same boat as you too, maybe you can consider the PPTV King 7 (6" phone with 2k screen + dual sim + SD card + 3GB RAM + Helios X10 + ESS DAC) all for around $160 AUD delivered.
I'm still waiting for mine to arrive but done heaps of google fu and the reviews are awesome bang for buck! :)
