hey man, EB at Westfield Garden City.

Edit: I'm sure any EB should be able to do it, because on the back of the receipt that EB price match.

        • my local eb wouldnt match since HN's offer comes with that Wii Vacation Isle Beach Party game and they couldnt do that package or something. my local eb has always been picky like that though… didnt have the right staff there that i wanted ;)
so i went across and made my local HN gimme a black one even though the tried not to saying that the special was only for the white one…

    • You seem like a pushover, which is why
you get the rub around for small things that matter to you, next time get cranky!

  • Mmm.. cheap wii. Missed the last myer bundle (and COUNTLESS cotd pressure cooker deals :P), then lost interest in getting one. At this price, I might start to think getting one again.

Btw, anyone knows where is currently the cheapest to get the additional accessories eg. extra controller, motionplus, and wii fit board?

    Cheers.

    • wii fit plus game and board bundle is $128 at HN also. i got that too when i got the wii. i think thats the cheapest at the moment…? im happy to be corrected if im wrong…

      • Just got the console (finally!) at HN opposite of highpoint SC. They said they still got heaps of wii for anyone else looking to buy, but white only in stock.

        Also @ HN:
Motion plus - $26 on sale sticker
Wii mote - $60 normal price
Nunchuk - $26 on sale sticker

The wii fit board, they got one label says 122 and another 128. Confusing at best. But decided not to get anything else and shop around for extra accessories. on my way to jb now ;)

      • I'll sell mine wii fit plus game and board (brand new) for $110 if anyone in SA want to pick it up?

      • Saw the wii fit plus game + board bundle for $119 at jb.

Also jb has $134 for wii fit bundle + biggest loser or shaun white game + battery recharger pack.

Not sure if this is the cheapest though.

Went to Rebel Sport and the manager said they would beat HN it by 10%. Got it at $178 :)

    • Okay even better now. May I ask which Rebel Sport? Thanks.

    • Rebel Sport sell Wii? @_@

      • LOL…you can do sports on wii haha

    • Got a receipt? This could prove very handy for others.

    • Ahh, of course, they have a 10% price beat policy don't they.

  • I bought it HN in Greensbarough in Melbourne. Only white consoles left.

    • What's serial number of the console? Firmware version?
      I got firmware 4.0E LAH1177xxxx.

  • Anyone got a white wii firmware 3.4E? I got a white wii with 4.0E (D3-2) (Hightpoint Melbourne).

    • nope, same boat as you. 4.0E, LAH117xxxxxx. Is the serial number the way u can tell that the drive is D3-2?

So what does it all mean in terms of running backup and homebrew? sorry, i'm noob @ all this mod things :P

      • I'm pretty sure that the Wii firmware 4.0E will definitely have D3-2. You can still play through HDD but say no with backup disc.

        D3-2
        LAH1137*, 1147*, 1151*, 1152*, 1166*, 1168*, 1169*, 1170*, 1173*, 1177*, 1188*, 1192*

        • although expensive, getting a mode for the wii can work around this issue, as it cant be blocked my an firmware update

        • Spent 1.5 day to research on this topic. So, am I correct to say that the only 2 options for this HN Wii to play backup:
          - Painless but expensive way: buy WODE jukebox.
          - Cheap (free) but with possible pain: softmod

both solutions are using USB HDD to play backup.
Am I right? Is there another way anyone would like to add?

@jinroh: Or you can just buy games and stop ripping off Nintendo by downloading and playing pirated backups…

            • +1

@manbearpig: Or I can buy games, make a backup and never to worry about disc scratch again. I don't think I'm ripping of anybody doing that :)

              • -1

@jinroh: Oh come on, do you honestly expect people to believe that same old excuse. I haven't been under a rock all these years. I've seen it all…how scratched can your discs possibly get..? 99% of people who mod consoles don't do it to legitimately make backups. They do it because all the backups are already there floating around on the internet..

Honestly, if one's going to go as far as to mod their console (possibly voiding warranty, bricking, etc), then they're not going to go even further by buying all their games when they can just download them off the internet. Also, by not having the latest firmware (which those that want to mod are obviously trying to avoid) you can't get online with the Wii. So you're risking and sacrificing all this just so that your discs won't get scratched when there's no reason why they should get scratched in the first place? lol..

                • +2

@manbearpig: my sons have snapped 2 disks and scratch another so badly it cant play. In the US you can send the disk back to Nintendo and they will replace it for a small fee. Here you return the disk to Nintendo Aust (at your cost) and they will send you a replacement for $70.

                • +1

@manbearpig: Point taken. But just as you mentioned, some people (those 1%) DO use these mods for legitimate use. Especially for those with kids, the possibility of scratching the discs to become unplayable multiplies.

I thought I (and some others here) just trying to share useful information here about this specific batch of Wiis in terms of what modifications are available. People who are doing the mods for whatever purpose should (and may have already) know the risk of bricking, voiding warranty, etc and should take responsibility for their own action.

I for one always like to explore options at tinkering my gadgets. For me, there's more to Wii mods, eg. the convenience at not having to leave my couch when choosing games (and having nice looking GUI ), use it for media centre for streaming, etc :D So I think I'm going with the softmodding route, depending on how confident I am at not stuffing anything in the process.

Oh btw, all the guides I have been reading say that any modding doesn't affect the feature of playing online. Can't confirm it for myself as I haven't done anything to mine.

                  • -1

@jinroh: Ok I understand that you're just trying to help. However, I still believe that those with the knowledge of the whole modding and backup procedures would still get drawn into just downloading the games since it becomes available to them. Even those with kids who would initially just be genuinely interested in backing up games. This is coming from someone who's been in that kind of situation.

It happened when I had my PSP. I bought all my games then found out about ISOs, the convenience of having all the games on the system, the faster load times etc. I kept all my games on the system because of all the benefits in doing so. But then you start to think, "If I have all the games on the console, I'm not going to use the hard copies anymore, so what's the point of keeping them? What's the point in buying more hard copy games when the backup is just going to end up on my system?". Then you stop buying the games and just start downloading them. That was when I had my PSP. So yes, it's something I try to avoid now and I know from first hand experience how easy it is to get drawn in. lol, I make it sound like I'm in rehab or something..

                    • @manbearpig: Well, I agree that it is very tempting to download once you've "enabled" it to accept backups, but I believe it is also due to the legitimate option costing soo much more while offering arguably less value.

I mean, look at the music distribution via itunes store. It is clear online but legal distribution is more efficient and can bring the cost down to the customer. Plus, u have digital copy in HDD which is fairly more reliable than disc. Why can't games? especially when Wii game files being only DVD-size.

Well, at least they can always keep fighting it with forcing new firmware and bricking consoles but IMHO that way only won't slow piracy down. Make pirating harder and not worth it, because if it's only harder but still worth doing, people will actually crack it yet again.

                      my 2 cent :-)

                    • @manbearpig: Just because you did things that were illegal with your PSP doesn't mean other people are like you. There are plenty of people who have kids that wreck any type of disc, whether its a movie or game and the HD backup solution is perfect for them. Pfffft.

  • did anyone also get the vacation isle beach party game? I asked the girl that served me but she said it's the same as wii sports.
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/product/1255509270071/wii-bun…

    • she said it’s the same as wii sports.

      NO! It's not the same.
I bought 1 for friend and both games included.

      • Wow, u're one of the lucky ones. I did mention the extra game (and was ready to show the website from my phone), they said the website was a mistake and had been taken down. Obviously NOT as karen above just linked to the same page.

I thought my argument didn't stand any ground that day and couldn't be bothered arguing with the salesman showing "don't care" attitude.

  • woohoo - managed to use the $50 voucher with this deal. So ended up paying $148. Seems like the person at the counter didn't know that nintendo products are excluded. Anyway - best deal eva. Thanks Harvey Norman!!!!

    • LOL. You probably just got that person sacked.

    • Hahaha - Well done!!

      • I was going to buy the wii anyway with or without the voucher. If they refused, so be it. The deal is good without the $50 discount.

  • Is this deal still on?

  • Got the last one at HN Gepps Cross.

    $198.00.

Also picked up the Wii Fit Plus board and game for additional $99.00.

    Bargain.

    • May I know how did u manage to get board&game for $99? How much was it the sticker price?

When I bought the console on saturday, wii fit plus was $122. Asked for bundle discount but they won't budge on price saying all items are heavily discounted already. Anyway u score a good deal there. Well done.

got one yesterday. bit of a rundown.
went to Wiley Park HN, they were busy as hell.
showed the print out of the deal to one of the sales man(dodgy), he clearly told me they are out of stock.
so I asked where else I can find one. he checked on the system and told me there just one left in the shop but its a white one. I am keen on getting a black one but anyway I thought at least I got one. He got the unit and entered my details in the system. I am almost happy. while he was holding the packet for me I saw a sticker on the box saying" ex display item, notify customer". But he did not mention a thing to me. So I had to ask him, if it is a ex display item or not. He said NO its brand new. I showed him the sticker. then he was like, oh ok, take it or leave it that is the only one you gonna get. at that point I was not feeling very happy about buying a used product. asked him where else I can find a new one. his answer "Campbeltown only" without even looking at the system.I was not going to drive that far. I told him that I will look for some hard drives as well and asked him to keep it with him and will pay a bit later.
got on the phone to Dick Smith, they were busy as well. asked about a price match. they said it will be price matched if they can confirm the price with HN over the phone and if HN confirms they have stock.
same with the local EB games.
My Gf asked another sales man in WP HN, he said its available in Liverpool and manly for sure.
Called Liverpool HN, was informed they only have white ones available and he will hold one on my name.
canceled the ordered in WP HN. went to Liverpool HN, found an awesome young guy(actually helping other people), showed him the deal , told him I would like to have a black one. he said he got a black wii left.
got the black wii , asked about Vacation Isle Beach Party he said oh yes.
got the wii black with the game as well. very very happy.
moral of the story, dont let them feed bulshit information to you.

HN in Sydney City (Martin PLace) has about 30 of them - $188 each….

    • Was this today?

  • Just got mine from Amart all sports (today, that's right 1 day after the deal had ended) - They beat the $198 price by 10% so got it for $178… Not a bad effort!! I didn't have to do much, the lady asked the manager, and the manager said yes!

    Scored!!!

    • Did they give you the bonus Vacation Isle Beach Party game too?

      • No - They didn't have it.. Wasn't worried though..

  • What version firmware is on the black wii consoles you guys got from HN?

    • +1

I picked a black one up from HN Auburn on the weekend and it had 4.2E firmware.

      • Great, thanks for that.

        • Were you able to pick one up? The Auburn store wasn't very busy Saturday morning, and it seemed that they still had plenty of stock in black and white.

  • got a price match at david jones :)

    • But the bonus Vacation Isle Beach Party game not included right?

  • I got mine for $188 not $198.

  • The deal is still on at HN in the Martin Place/MLC Centre store for $188 (no bonus Vacation Isle Beach Party game). The guy on the phone said it will run at that store until Friday or sold out. White only.

Since it's just the base console (+ Wii Sports etc) price - I got Rebel to better the price for me with their price match + further 10% policy.

So in the end bought it from Rebel MidCity Centre for $170 today.

  • Called JBhifi, they willing to sell the console only at 198 no problem.

    • +1

      I also asked at World Square's JB-Hifi.

The conversation went approx like this:
Me: How much are the wiis here?
      Sales: $280
Me: Didn't you have them for $198?
Sales: Nah that's EB, but we can match it
Me: Match or beat by 10%?
Sales: Match because it's way under cost price
