  • Anyone game to go try out the $50 voucher at Domayne? (It says no Nintendo products but who knows if they know that!)

    :P

  • Awesome price.

  • +2

Should I get this one for XMas present for the kids and keep it, or should I wait till Christmas? hmmm

    • I vote being the best dad in the world.

Buy it for them now, and when they come home from school leave it on their bed. I wish my dad did something like that.

    • Def get it now. It only had a price drop recently, so chances of it coming down again are slim, although it might happen.

  • I got the Myer deal with the biggest loser pack for $299, whos a loser now hey !

    • Who??

      • Did you not get the Wii Fit board as well?

    • Did you get the power supply with it?

  • +1

    nice bargin

    • why so many 10ft pole statements?

      • cause I got one ;)

        • +1

so you got some jousting sticks for sale, eh? ;)

          • +3

@Wally: $450? For jousting sticks? Tell 'im he's dreaming!

            • +1

              @bern1992: $450 for 10ft of quality. I consider it a bargain.

    • Yeah but there's one difference that ignorant people fail to see. The games. Ever thought that maybe people would buy a Wii for its exclusives?

Reminds me of when people said the PSP is going to kill the DS because it has better graphics…

    • you size queen!

  • Xmas time they should be selling these suckers like hotcakes at close to their real value, like $99… what the ! they are making enough from the overpriced games we buy., so surely they can afford to get these in each home, just like the printers, most of the profit comes from the cartridges not the printer.

    • Haha didn't think of that but good question.

    • Doesnt the ad say it comes with Wii Sports? it says: Wii Console with Wii Sports.

    • +6

yeah i think so i heard they also come with a controller and av cable
what a bargain if they include this as well

      • the console comes with 1 controller, all the cables needs to play the wii

$50 Domayne voucher? Isn't this at Harvey Norman? Are Domayne/Harvey Norman connected somehow?

And what's that 10ft pole thingo mean?

But this is an awesome price.

    • -2

      " I don’t understand some of these comments =( "

perhaps the effects of the " illumination " ???

  • Just saw this on the sign outside HN Mentone driving home before, very good deal. Shame I don't need a second Wii.

  • You guys reckon it'll get any lower than this around christmas time, or should I just suck it up and buy it now?
I'm after a black wii…. maybe JB might be able to beat it lol…

Btw, is this for QLD too?

  • Is this the cheapest wii ever?

    • +7

what are you going to do with my contact details? nothing. thats right, you cant do a thing if i manage to use a voucher and walk out of the store. i thought you said sales people weren't dumb?

    • +3

haha. contact details… you should read the privacy act mister.

      • +1

Hahaha - while you reading the privacy act, you might want to get a few lessons in typing! (or spelling, lol)

azn_envazn Unless you have the right to talk on behalf of HN. you better shut up.

Great deal but I'd wait to see Sony's new Move which is likely to kill the Wii. Move comes out before Christmas and will utilise a camera along with stick movements to emulate your movements on screen/in game. It sounds like revolutionary stuff.

Not to mention that from September 2010, the PS3 will support 3D blu ray movies (it already supports the handful of 3D games on the market). My tip is that Wii is about to become obsolete come 2011 once Sony revolutionises the industry later in the year. So if you'd like to future proof your gaming and viewing experiences, I'd save up, pay another couple of hundred bux and stick with Sony and ditch the Wii for this Christmas.

    • +1

I don't really think it'll do much to be honest. Only on Nintendo can you play mario and zelda games, and pretty much the Wii has a reputation for being more family orientated.

    • PS3 games are not for everyone, the Wii caters to a different market. I have both consoles, love the Wii for party games.

The price at HN would include the power pack and Sports game someone was asking about earlier, they both come with the basic package. You only get 1 remote & nunchuk though.

    • +1

If the PS3 and Wii had the exact same line up of games then your reason would be valid. Do people even think about games anymore? That should be the biggest deciding factor when buying a console. The Wii has MANY exclusives that a lot of people would buy a Wii for. The Wii is 4 years old now and the Move may be technologically superior, but you have to remember that you'll have to fork out a lot more than $200 for a PS3 + Move.

    • Big deal, man. Who do you think you are? A gaming analyst now?

    • I like what you've said here, and the fact that you've given it a positive while still giving an option on something else… ill help you remove some of those negs as i think what you have here is some valid points, but i also think nintendo will have the price, the clean family fun factor that sony isnt aimed at, they are for two different audiences.

if it helps its on the harvey norman website too…

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/product/1255509270071/wii-bun…

    • Nice! So I guess this is national.

      • yeah it looks that way…

  • Is this available in SA or only NSW?

  • Any WA harvey norman offer such price?

  • +2

Down to Half of what it was just a few weeks ago… Wonder what do things like these actually cost..
Wonder why the simple Economics equation of Selling Price = Cost + Profit doesn't apply these days.
Seems like for everythin, The Selling Price = Cost + Profit + Greed + More Greed + More Greed +……..
When will they ever stop looting our hard earned money !!!!

    • never. they're businesses, they have no morals.

    • Then vote with our money! Never buy any overpriced products, if the demand is low, then they would have to adjust the price, right?

    • I'm quite sure we sorta determine the price. I dunno… this dusty economics degree of mine. Something about profit maximization and our elasticity of demand. Also a lot of other factors, obviously quantity would still play a part. Also the equation you're using is too simple and greed can't be quantified… it's more like a factor.

  • This is a good price, pity I bought one at Christmas LOL. Someone was asking about the Sports game and power pack before, both come with the base console package. You only get 1 remote & 1 nunchuk but if you know where to look you can get extras pretty cheap.

    • Hey fido, how much did you get yours for at Chrissy? Did you find that it was cheaper around christmas time or did the prices go up? I'm contemplating whether to get it now or wait until christmas lol.

      • Comparing prices to Christmas which was 7 months ago isn't really a realistic comparison, especially with the price drop that happened in the last couple months.

  • Any wii games bargains somewhere?

    • Dick smith have quite a few different games for $20 and under.

  • Would good guys price match this?

    • +1

they would probably come up with an excuse.

      • They say they will BEAT any "advertised" price by 10%… If you showed them the website then that would be enough for them to beat it by 10%… Anyone try this??

  • Pretty good, I remember buying it originally for like $400.

  • Great deal. Hopefully these don't come with 4.3 installed. Although i highly doubt it.

    • what is 4.3?

  • This is the cheapest the Wii has ever been. Leliv 4.3 means the version of firmware. Some people like to have earlier firmware for running homebrew and back up games

  • +1

Wow, this deal is unbeleivable. Thumbs up!!

  • +3

ahhhh the famous dust collector is on sale XD

  • The price is below most retailers cost price

    Trade(ex): $255.50
    S.R.P: $299.95

This $199 price could mean a possible price drop, However is unlikely at this point in time

    • Cheers mate. So chances are we'd have difficulty getting other stores to price match (have $10 in JB credit)

      • i got a price match from david jones (had a $80 DJ gift card) and they also gave me a free game of equal value to vacation isle beach party(big beach sports 2). the sales person didnt really believe the cheap price and had to ask his manager who called harvey norman to confirm it.

  • Price match @ Myer?

    • Any other places to match?

      • im gonna try eb games today… ill see how that goes and report back…

EDIT: Nup no good my eb wouldnt match that package cause it came with that bonus Wii Vacation Isle Beach Party game or some nonsense. looks like other people have successfully price-matched at eb though…

  • can anyone else recommend a cheap place to have Wii Mod chips installed in Melbourne?

  • Just got one and yes it does come with Wii Sports and the Beach Party game.

    • What’s serial number of the console? Firmware version?
      I got firmware 4.0E LAH1177xxxx.

  • Rebel Sport Bondi Junction- $210- best price before Harvey Norman with wii accessories like wiimotes for $45, Nunchuck $15. Most likely the RRP of Wii will drop to $199 before xmas

  • Hmm, ad doesn't mention game and says white only. Site (obviously) mentions game, and claims black and white.

  • i picked up one as well. but they didn't gave me the Beach Party game? if it is bonus, should be shown on the invoice? whoever got the bonus game, double check you invoice plz….my invoice only shows one item…

  • oooo nice, i'd sure buy this if i had some spare cash.

  • -1

good find, but still the Myer $299 bundle is the best deal ever
i sold biggest loser game plus strength kit and wii fit plus with balance board are worth $160 on ebay except wii sports i don't think it worth a penny coz i use HDD to play games so it end up to $140 is all i actually spend.

    • How do you use HDD to play games?

        • By applying the hack, does that mean it's not necessary to modify the hardware to play downloaded games?

          • -1

@ronnknee: yes since Jun 2009, hacking no need to change hardware anymore, just one thing, for those wii with the D3-2 drive(some latest white wii and all the black wii), even u hack it u can't play downloaded games from its CD-ROM, u can use a USB HDD to play games still.

      • i found lifehacker's tutorial a little easier to read.
haven't tried this out myself though…

        http://lifehacker.com/5518518/how-to-back-up-and-play-your-w…

        • I wouldn't recommend the lifehacker guide, as it doesn't say anything about doing a NAND backup (which really is a necessity for recovery from a possible bricked Wii). The one over at GBATemp I reckon is the best, easiest to follow and most comprehensive:

          http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=171901

    • Wouldn't postage be costly for the strength kit and wii fit balance board? I'm surprised that you managed to find a buyer willing to pay for this.

      • they don't, so both of the items been picked up

  • +1

Finally managed to buy a black one of these!

Went to Harvey Norman today, they had it for $288 - you have to ask them about the $198 deal or else they'll pretend they don't know about it. But anyway, I didn't end up buying from them since they didn't have any Black Wii's in stock. Went over to K-Mart and asked if they could beat HN's price, they said no because its below their stock price (I was like wtf, shouldn't they beat it regardless?), so I went onto JB Hifi. Just before entering JB I see a dude walking out calmly with a Black Wii so I was like "yes they have it in stock!" and went inside to the Wii section only to be told by the dude there that he just sold the last black wii. I seriously wanted to go and kung fu the guy outside, steal the wii and chuck the money at him but I didn't. So finally I raged into EB Games and asked for the Wii to be price matched to HN. They called up HN and HN told them the Wii was $288! In my head I was like HN YOU LYING BASTARDS! and the EB guys couldn't check online because their computers don't allow them to go on the internet. I was about to slap someone but luckily one of the dudes had an iphone on them so he was able to check online.

Long story short, perseverence pays off guys!

    • so you are saying EB actually matched the price? Which EB? Cheers.
