The pole pruner is very good, we bought one a few months ago and have used it a reasonable amount since then.
You can rotate the head 90 degrees which helps a lot with vertical branches, plus the handle can tilted to make it easier to use, I have a damaged shoulder and found it much easier than our other straight petrol pole saw.

If you need extra batteries and the pruner- may be ok.
400mm hedger length is just too short.
Stand alone Ozito hedger(corded) is $149 but still short at 410mm.
Also I doubt that battery hedger will be able to cut through anything thicker than 5mm

    • Used it today. Able to cut 10mm Jasmine hedge.

  • is the pruner like a tiny chain saw?

    • +2

Yes its a 200mm chain saw on a telescopic arm and is surprisingly effective, I actually thought that there was a good chance I would be taking it back after testing it but have happily kept it.

  • 18v garden tool is not very powerful, even with 4ah battery doesn't make it any more appealing

    • +3

I have an 18V blower and hedger and they are both better than the previous petrol versions I had.

      • +4

JV does your new blower help you push out more hot air than you use to?

      • It's obviously not the ryobi one blower then, because I have one and it's a POS compared to my petrol blower. No comparison at all.

Voltage doesn't tell you power. A 12v tool can have more power output than an 18v tool.

      • Yes it does, your 12v tool might drill through masonary but you might need to charge it 3 times to finish the job while the 18v doesn't.

        • +1

          Yes it does

Not, it really doesn't. You could have a 200w 12v cordless tool and a 100w 18v tool. Voltage alone doesn't determine power.

your 12v tool might drill through masonry but you might need to charge it 3 times to finish the job while the 18v doesn't.

Try again, voltage also does not determine run time.

You can also easily have a 12v battery with longer run time than an 18v.
          12v 4Ah battery = 48Wh
          18v 2Ah battery = 36Wh

Running at 200W in both tools the 12v would last longer.

    Usual price.

      Seems like it.

    • It was a bargain but I just discovered there is a new version and this looks like the new normal price.

    • I was unformed by Ozito rep this was a promo package. Available from first week of Jan. Show me proof of this being usual price.

      • +1

Available from January? Sure. Video below was since Dec 2016. Same price.

I was told it will be available as a promotional product first week of Jan. Even if it was available in December it isnt usual price because it didnt exist before that.

    • +2

      Ditto. Normal price

  • To what length does the pole extend? I'm assuming the pole does extend.

  • How long the battery last when working?

    • +1

My hedge is about 24M wide took about 2 hours to do, and the battery hasn't run out.

  • No offence to OP, but does anyone apart from zealmax have any feedback on the tool? Would love to hear feedback from alternate sources…

Was in bunnings, considering buying this. If this was electric powered I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Havent seen much performance with battery powered tools in the past.

No offence taken. I have had a good run with Ozito 18V tools. I still have the old Ozito 18V impact driver, drill, torch, saw set. Still going strong after almost 4 years. Too bad the batteries are not compatible with the new Ozito power X change models. 4Ah battery is sufficient for regular gardening. I bought the Ozito blower that uses the same battery. The blower is weaker than the petrol one, but less than half of the weight and has enough power to do what I need. With 5 years warranty, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Regarding enough power for the hedger, I haven't gotten stuck while hedging. It is also lighter than the electric version.
