I have purchased through PCByte earlier from eBay to get cashback on D-link 2870B 2 years back, so should work.

Detailed CNET review comparing speed and coverage was helpful for me to decide.

  • Awesome price, great find!

  • Do PCByte give a normal invoice when purchasing thru ebay?

  • Would this be better than a dlink n300?

  • Can i hook up my nbn phone to this?

  • I have been very happy with this modem for several years. Will buy another one at this price!

  • Note, this is not NBN FTTN compatible. Their marketing says it's NBN compatible, which may confuse some. It will work with FTTP, but not FTTN.

    • doesn't FTTN just give you an Ethernet port that you can plug into this unit's WAN port?

      • FTTN uses copper phone line so it connects using VDSL technology. Fibre to building and Fibre coax hybrid uses Ethernet port

      • Don't own this router but has another one with WAN port. I just plug skymesh NBN(FTTN) to wan port and set router wan to autoconfig-DHCP. Then internet works just fine. Dont know much about FTTP/N/B but hopes this answers some question

        • I think what you just said is going to confuse any non-technical people more. Yes in the circumstance you're talking about, it can be the router - but you still need an FTTN modem and run it in bridged mode. I do the same.

    • My house is also not NBN compatible. Govt marketing says that my house will be compatible, which did confuse me. My house works with poor man's internet. Perfect for $70 for my needs :)

  • Out of Stock.
Can't believe we're still relying on ADSL on this day and age.
my premise can't even get ADSL and still got 2yrs+ to wait for NBN for a promising measly 25mbps.
    makes me wanna vomit!
Yet elsewhere everyone using crazy gigabit connection!
    Very disappointing…

  • I'm after a modem with external antennae. I don't live in a big house, and it's all one level, but for some reason my wireless performance is atrocious (it can't even stream 1080p over a LAN - Just used Android wifi speed test and got 11.50Mbit/sec download and 7.0Mbit/sec upload).

    • can't steam 1080 over LAN has nothing to do with wifi.
your wifi performance is poor, maybe you have steel frame?
maybe external antenna will not help.
put wifi in each room? lol

    • Tried EOP power line adapters?

  • Bought one but not sure if PC Byte is a Verified Partner! It is not in their partners list.
But even at $120 it is a good bargain. Thanks OP :)

    • Good news; I contacted D-Link and they confirmed that PC Byte is an authorised retailer!

      • Yes they are …thats the reason i have mentioned it in the post

        • But interestingly when I contacted PC Byte they replied back:
"Sorry about the late reply. We are not an authorised retailer of D-Link but are a reseller."

        • +1

@Kourosh: I wrote to D-link just to be on a safer side (as i had claimed 2 years bk) and I received a confirmation from D-link team that YES I will be entitled for cashback through PCByte.

        • Do I have to select Physical Store or Online Store when submitting the claim ??
