Surface Pro 4 128GB Core M3 (No Pen) $899 Delivered @ Microsoft Store

260

Microsoft had released a new Surface Pro 4 sku with no pen and it is $450 cheaper than the model with the pen. It's about $100 cheaper than I've ever seen this model, personally I don't want the pen but even if you buy it ($94) you'll be ahead.

Same price as what they've been advertising most of Christmas / New Year.

Surface Pro 5 probably being announced soon so I'm keen to see what happens to SP4 prices when that happens.

    • Since Microsoft recently announced full Windows support for ARM processors, I'm interested to see if they'll be introducing a cheaper ARM-based Surface 4/5 as well as the SP5. The Surface 3, due to its pricing and fairly large step down in specs, wasn't a particularly good buy. But a Snapdragon powered Surface 4/5 could hit a better pricepoint and be a more interesting prospect, provided MS don't hamstring it again.

      • That would be a big step down in specs going from intel to sd thought right? I feel like a SD version would be even worse than m3?

        • Sure, but if the price matches, it mightn't be too bad for lighter tasks. I haven't kept up too much with Snapdragon performance lately, but it seems the 835 is still a mystery. If it turns out to be on-par with Apple's A10, and if Qualcomm could tweak it to take advantage of better thermals of a tablet form factor (like Apple's X model SoCs), it could do alright.

Since Android tablets seem to have completely fallen flat, I think there's a place for an iPad competitor here. It wouldn't be competitive with the Surface Pro models, of course, but still. Mainly I just want a cheaper buy-in price, tbh.

  • So want it but will wait coz might drop further! Still happy with my surface 3!

  • Weren't jb selling it at the same price during X'mas/NY?

    • They still are and I was told by a staff member that they will be till March sometime.

      • Must trying to get rid of stock for imminent Surface Pro 5 release I suppose.

    M3 core, ew

    • Core M3 works grwat for most parts. Not for intensive "work" tho.

      • Yea or intensive anything really. Like opening a bunch of chrome tabs, decoding FHD/UHD video in a browser, doing any kind of coding/compiling etc. So if you just want it for simple internet and some word/email then yea its great….

  • Bought one last Xmas, m3 is quite good it doesn't overheat that much.

  • You could call this the Surface 4 Poor edition.. :)

    • Spending 900 bucks is not poor.

      • No Pen is poor though, for a man

        • And it's like, what's your range, can I get the slowest model with the least capability please… oh and I don't even want that pen…

        • Lol

      • Its the surface for the poor?

        • Coughing up 900 for a tablet is already looking rich compare to those who are trying to get a $500 laptop

        • @siuol: This is like a premium laptop build, with slow cpu and now keyboard. btw, what can you buy for $500, and what do you need it for?

        • @OnlinePred:

No I am not looking for $500 laptop myself. Just that I was recently asked by a relative for a highschool student and I honestly cannot recommend anything at this price point.

I have a sp4 m3 version myself and I absolutely like it. The price difference with i5 was not a major point however note that m3 is the only model which is fanless which I like.

@siuol: Yea those fans lol, we had an office full of the SP3 i7's and not only were they pretty avg performance, but when at max perforamnce the fans would spin up and the throttling would kill it.

I'm just a huge hater of anything less than desktop grade CPUS. I'm doing dev work on an i7 dell xps 13 and it's night and day comparing to a 4 year old desktop i7 lol. Desktop can compile my set of code in under a second, while on the dell it takes almost 9 seconds. That and the get chugged down after a few FHD videos streams loading in chrome :-(. I often feel like my phone can do more than these ultra low voltage cpus.
