Last time the junk I got were cheap fold-able sunglasses that would probably only fit a kid and a stupid toy thing with sticky tentacles you could throw at a wall.

Not a freebie if we have to pay for shipping of $5 (and we don't even know what will be inside the bag).
I got negged like crazy a few weeks ago when I called this "giveaway" a lucky dip. My view hasn't changed — this is essentially a contest/raffle/lottery/competition, and shouldn't be on OzBargain. Also, plenty of people have reported getting absolute junk from previous "mystery giveaways" that is in no way worth $5.
Should charge them for using your garbage bin?

Last time I got horribly looking kids sunglasses from them which would be worth 10 cents. It's just a scam to get money for nothing, in my view. I agree with jump22. This so called deals shouldn't be on OzBargain.
omg same thing here!! the glasses did not fit my big head at all but i also got a sticky wall climber haha great for kids.. but i had it for free because i wante 3 quality, when i check-out the postage was completely free therefore i paid $0 hehe
I noticed that they've been running these "Mystery Giveaway" at least once a week, and there have been several posted on OzBargain with mostly negative acceptance:

http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/20163Personally, I don't think this is a bargain mainly because there are still chances of you not scoring a bargain. Furthermore, if for some reason you need to claim a refund on the item, there's nothing to be refunded.
When 1-day deal sites started the idea of 'mystery boxes' (aka pooki box/MGB), it was kinda fun. But the novelty has worn off with many stores doing deals like these and giving away items which you can often find on dealextreme/focalprice for about the same total you're paying for.
And for this specific "Mystery Giveaway" from 1saleaday, I don't think it's fun at all if it's done weekly instead of once or twice a year. This to me doesn't sound like 'clearing' their warehouse.
ud get something better if u just went to the $2 shop with $5.
