20x 40" (50x100cm) Panoramic Canvas Print - $59.00 (Usually $229.00) @ Big W Photos

860

Big W are currently having a sale on some panoramic canvas prints again. Specifically the 20"x40" (50cmx100cm) for $59.

Got a couple last time and they turned out great. Make sure you give them large and high quality image because printing on canvas of this size relies on it.

Can pick up for free at your closest Big W or pay for postage.

Ends on the 1st Feb.

Seconded. These are great quality. They regularly have this bargain every few months, so don't stress if you miss it. It'll be back

Also a great remote gift as you can get it delivered to another Big W store for your recipient. Keeps the grandparents in touch with their growing grandkids to get a canvas print every year or so

Sounds great, but it painted a mental picture of a house with all the walls packed with massive pictures of the grandkids and your Dad saying "Does he know we have a computer we can view pictures on?"

But seriously, a great remote gift as you say.

lol yeah that does paint a creepy mental image. But it's a shame that these days people just stick to computer screens, or even worse just their phone screens, to view all their photos.
And yes I'm guilty of that too given the amount of money I've put into camera gear.

        • You want a popsicle? My cellar's full of popsicles!

  • do these come wrapped on a wooden frame? or just the canvas by itself?

    • +2

Description: Canvas Prints are printed on high quality artist stock, then stretched and wrapped around a quality wooden frame. Comes with hooks and string for instant hanging.

Edit: Yep they are wrapped around the edges of the frame so make sure you're okay with some of the image on the sides/top and bottom.

what would be the minimum resolution for 20" x 40"?

what would be the minimum resolution for 20" x 40"?

It depends on the type of image being printed, how close you are viewing it and the quality of the photo.

Check the last few BigW photo posts for a lot of information on this.

4000x2000 is one recommendation but around 3000x1500 will also give good results.

  • I'm supposing an iPhone panorama wouldn't cut it :(

    this is old fashioned.
glass prints is where it's at

    • Do you know any good glass printing places?

Last time this was posted someone suggested an alternative - a store called DG Canvas

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/dgcanvas

Are they better? Currently $70 for a 20x40 panorama, but with the eBay 10% code it comes to $63 so cost difference is negligible.

    • Had a quick look some size prices and 70x100 is $80 without any discounts. So 10% off is $72 so for an extra $13 you'd get something closer to the typical 3:2 ratio for other pics.
For something to use long term, if it lasts, I think it'd be worth the extra if it means being able to choose a better pic overall. It opens up the choices for me anyway as my typical post processed output.

There a lot of good canvas stores (Vista Print,Canvas Champ, Canvas Print, etc) out there that are just as cheap but in saying that we just had our wedding pics put to canvas from Big W from their end of year sale & we are extremely happy with the quality & the price we paid. Would definitely get more Canvases from Big W again.

  • I'd like to print some panoramas with a 3:1 ratio. The 50x150 on BIGW photos never goes on sale. I see I could get a 40x120 on DG canvas for 75 AUD (or 50x160 for 99). Has anyone tried them? Or another alternative?

    • +1

Why not try printing 3:1 on 2:1 a go? You'll need a staple remover, hacksaw, sharp scissors and a staple gun.

It'll never look as good as having it done professionally in the first place. Besides, if they had the skills to do this they'd probably be getting the print done somewhere better than Big W and mounting/framing themselves. This bargain is for people who want to click and have it made for them.

    • The 50x150 on BIGW photos never goes on sale.

Bollocks, I've seen it on sale at least twice last year.

      • Good to know. Every time I've checked so far it's at least double the price of the 50x100. I'll keep looking.

  • I keep saying I'll have a pic ready to go (one of my own photos) the next time this goes on sale but I never do lol. Most of my pics aren't really that 2:1 pano style.
    One day I'll be ready!

  • Big W no longer gloss. They claim it's not popular. I beg to differ

  • I remember my school had prints on the wall that were blown up so big you could clearly see the dots and not have any idea what the image is from close up. Wall to ceiling - I'd love to have something like that provided it didn't look like crap due to multiple prints being used to make a full image.

  • Does anyone know how to change the layout from Landscape to Portrait? This is not for the panoramic ratio, just rectangle

  • Seems this deal is still going? Until 15/2?
