Hello OzB'ers

As an IT professional, I have been using this software for years. I wish every computer had this installed. I've installed it over thousands of machines, personal & corporate.

The number one thing that fails in a computer or cause of slowness is the hard drive. (IMO, strictly speaking about hardware)

PREVENT DATA LOSS!!! This program will tell you your hard drive is about to die, before it goes, before you lose all your data.

This will tell you how healthy your Hard drive is and will help you predict failure if/when your hard drive is failing. It works for traditional hard drives and SSDs. Has internal testing routines to really test your hard drive.

Detect and report the status of hard disks, SSDs, SSHDs with the award winning disk monitoring software!

The software can be used for unlimited time with all functions.
1-computer lifetime license, for noncommercial use with no technical support and with no updates: when updated to future version, switches back to unregistered version.

Not affiliated, just a happy customer.

  • Good find please let us know if it works for external USB drives?

  • This is my result:

The drive found 216 bad sectors during its self test.
There are 216 weak sectors found on the disk surface. They may be remapped any time in the later use of the disk.
2224 errors occured during data transfer.
    Estimated remaining lifetime: 12 days

Interesting enough, when I chkdsk, no bad sector found….hm….something fishy here…

    • The drive shields the errors that are being reported back to the OS. By the time Windows sees bad sectors, things have gotten pretty bad.

    • did you do the FULL chkdsk or just the quick one?

I had a very similar thing, 10% health, 17 days remaining

I did chkdsk /X (which implies /f) with no issue found on the disk…

Wonder if this free deal is bought to us by Western Digital and Seagate…..

haha yes never thought of that

oh your HD will die in 6 days

off you go to buy a new hard drive !!

  • This program automatically loads every time I start windows, is this the way it should work?

    • Go to Configurations > Preferences and untick "load with windows"

To those thinking this may give bogus results to get you to buy new drives:

1 year old Samsung 850 EVO SSD: 100%/100%
    1 year old Seagate 2.5" HDD from PS4: 100%/100%
4 year old Seagate 2.5" HDD from laptop: 100%/100%
    5 year old Seagate 3.5" HDD: 100%/100%
    5 year old no-name 2.5" portable HDD: 100%/100%
6 year old WD Blue 2.5" portable HDD: 100%/100%
8 year old WD Blue 2.5" laptop HDD: 100%/62% - 460 days remaining.
12 year old WD Blue 3.5" HDD: 100%/100%

BTW "days remaining" is the number of active drive days, not actual days. Eg if your device is on for 2 hours per day then 1 device day is 12 normal days.

      Don't get it?

in your example: 1 day = 2 hours usage; why is 1 device day == 12 normal days?

      • +1

        1 device day = 24 hours usage = 12 normal days.

That said, I personally don't trust the estimates given given how unpredictable HDD failure is. For example, I installed this program 3 days ago and it said my 3TB Seagate HDD with 1493 days of power on time has a remaining time of 21 days. Now, 3 days later, it's still 21 days. And I leave my computer running 24/7.

That said, monitoring changes in S.M.A.R.T data and alerting when it changes for the worse is a good indication that something is up and you should consider getting a new HDD. Since I got the alert, I've copied my 3TB worth of data off it and I found that 2 files (a jpg and a mkv file) couldn't be copied (or opened) due to CRC errors.

        • Understood

I am on the same boat with you; I run the computer for 24x7, the message is stated 12 days remaining and it's been running 3 days since I installed the app
