    Is it waterproof?

    • Yes, IP67

      • -1

That's not waterproofing, just standard water resistance like most other smartwatches. You couldn't swim with it. Even the old sony smartwatch 3 has better water resistance at ip68.

        • I don't think there are many smartwatches that have waterproofing that you are talking about (at least ones that are made by smartphone makers). Besides, I don't trust IP rating for swimming. The rating I think is little bit finnicky for that (at least upto IPx8, never seen anything with IPx9K on smart devices).

        • @Oversimplified: apple watch 2 for swimminf?

        • @gandhi28152: Yeah, that's the only one I can think of (at least for smartwatches that are made by smartphone companies). I didn't want to bring it up on an Android wear deal.

I do remember hearing about Casio one from this year's CES and I do remember hearing about ones from companies like Garmin and such. That said, I have little clue on those ones.

        • You can absolutely swim in a IP67 smartwatch.

        • @theguyrules:
Ip67 is not designed or recommended for swimming
Just means it survived emerged in 1metre for 30mins with no pressure.

        • +1

@theguyrules: IPx7 tests whether the device can survive immersion under 1m of water for 30 minutes. So hand movements while swimming (which will add pressure) and salt or chlorinated water are not under the test condition. So in my opinion, it's risky since the rating didn't test for such conditions.

you want to take a $400 smartwatch swimming in the first place?

AUD325 delivered from Amazon though warranty does seem to only be local.

  • Still a bit pricey for me. I do want it, but hoping the price will drop at some point

Got it from amazon last week $305AUD delivered via DHL (was offered free delivery from amazon)

  • I own the first gen Moto 360 and this is the watch I've got my eye on to upgrade to! Still a bit expensive, but damn it looks fantastic and it's slated to get Wear 2.0 as well.

    If only it had NFC..

    • +1

Im interested. What would you use NFC for? Payments?

      • +2

yes, tapping to pay with your watch and see other people jealous.
        priceless

      • +1

        Yep, Android Pay. So convenient.

  • Wish the new Huawei Watch 2 was out already.

    • $359.20

      • $459

        • wrong again

        • @theguyrules:
Have it from their own site, look at the specs and ZenPhone 3 too!
$449 for a joke with no NFC, no GPS, no heartbeat monitor, no wireless charging, no sim, no waterproof, no video playback, no …
          http://shop.asus.com/store/asusau/en_AU/pd/ThemeID.34023100/…
          $449 just because!

        • @pal: I reckon you are being slightly unfair. I am not saying all of your criticisms are invalid or anything like that, but some of them I think is little bit unfair.

Cellular smartwatches are really rare, especially in Australia. I kinda wanted one but especially in latest ones, it's hard to find one in Australia. I can't think of any other than LG Urbane Watch LTE.

IP67 is not that uncommon on smartwatches, for example, Huawei watch, LG Urbane Watch also has IP67 rating.

I do think having no wireless charging feature is a bummer, but as a result they do charge really fast (they say 15 minutes of charging gets 60%).

If you compare the price to Huawei Watch on release, RRP was at $549 (quoting Gizmodo Australia).
