Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop $119 Delivered at Staples

140

For anyone interested in Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop combo, there's a special currently at Staples. Free delivery over $55. I went to Officeworks for a price match. It is currently $148 at Officeworks and $164 at JB-Hifi.

$10 more expensive than offer 6 months ago https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/257600

Personal thoughts: Keyboard is good (coming from a MS 4000 keyboard) but not interested in the mouse.

Make sure you check they do not include default $10 shipping on their price when price matching.

    • I needed a new keyboard "today" so this was still a good deal for me as PLE isn't in my area. If I went PLE it works out to be approx $103 / $109 std/express freight. So I could have saved it I didn't need it today and waited for freight. Cheers for the post moony.

Good pickup and thank you! I feel slightly better about my posting now.

Damn I paid 148 but charged back to my company. It Help to reduce my wrist pain

    • That is the reason I went to the ergonomic MS 4000 keyboard in the first place. It took some time to get used to in regards to typing but well worth it. I am liking this keyboard overall. I don't need the numpad so the reduced size has helped me bring my mouse closer to the keyboard thus my arm isn't sprawled out.

The mouse seems OK for ergonomics but I'm not a fan of it. I'll stick to my logitech mouse for now.

It's got chiclet style keys except for the top row which are different. ESC is included in this which I wasn't a fan of but hopefully that's my only gripe. The FN keys are enabled/disabled by a toggle button in the right hand corner of the keyboard which is a non-issue for me as I don't use media keys.

  • I had a MS "natural" keyboard 20 years ago. Never again. Some people seem to like the stuff though so if this is a good price for one go for it.

  • fwiw i thought this keyboard was horrible and returned it the next day (officeworks). the keys on the top are really tiny to make room for the ergonomic shape. the mouse is also meh. im really happy with my Corsair K65 RGB rapidfire - most comfortable keyboard ive ever owned

    • Personally I only wanted the keyboard but that isn't an option in the Australian market yet as they are pushing the combo and I didn't want to mess around shipping from overseas for this purchase. If you're looking for a mechanical keyboard this sculpt is definitely not what you're looking for and as I mentioned the ESC being tiny is going to be a little annoying but hopefully its sturdy enough.

That K65 compact looks interesting but I think I'm too happy with the ergo hand/wrist placement to go back to a standard keyboard. Generally I don't think younger folk care about ergonomics but once you're over 30 things start to show wear and tear after 15 years of keyboarding.

have this keyboard and it is amazing.Takes getting used to but I love it. I'm on my 3rd one. Typing is so easy. I like the mouse too. It's big and comfy and sits in your hand well if you have large hands.

3rd? May I ask is that due to build quality or colourful keyboard warrior moments? I'm not implying anything :)

Hopefully this one lasts me a while if I treat it well as I don't eat or drink whilst using computer peripherals.

      • sorry;build quality is excellent.
I have replaced one after maybe 3 years or slightly less but I use it everyday for work and heavy, heavy usage in that time (6-12 hours a day?) and the keyboard is still great, the mouse is just starting to feel the belting from skin and dirt that finds its way into the clicky buttons so it's not as sensitive- this didn't happen till about 2 weeks ago so the mouse and keyboard are somewhere between 2.5 to 3 years old.

I bought another one for our other computer last year and it's perfect too.

I am thinking about getting another one during this deal too so that would make 4.

        • Cheers for taking the time to reply. Hopefully I have the good fortune of others here and will be using this KB for quite a while :)

I bought this back in 2014 when Microsoft had the 40% off RRP prices. Those were the good days. Cost me just $89 after Officeworks' 5% price match.
They keyboard is still going strong. A lot of Mac users are a fan of this keyboard and have been stockpiling it since its not in production anymore (there is a newer one which is not compatible with Macs).

    • Used the same deal back then. Got a few colleagues and friends onto it as well. Well worth it.

  • Love this keyboard and mouse. Been using it since the 2014 cash back sale.

    • +1 from the same deal. The keyboard is awesome as an ergonomic device.

  • Love this keyboard (and I've tried almost all 'ergonomic' keyboards including mechanicals). Great value on cash back sale time. The mouse is junk though (for me). Pair with MX Master and its great.

  • Great keyboard. Using it at work. Took me about 2 weeks to get used to. Cost me $46 after cashback in 2014 :)
