Flights to Athens from Perth $349 One-Way, Sydney/Melbourne $399 (July 15 to October 28) @Scoot

IF YOU missed out on Scoot’s airfare sale to Europe late last year, here’s your chance to have another crack at it.
The low-cost carrier is offering flights to Athens starting at just $349 one-way from Perth. While it’s not quite as low as its $325 deal in November last year, it’s still an amazing deal and travel dates are similarly for the European summer between July 15 to October 28.

Gave you a +1 but if you're copying from another source would be good to post at least an example from each state listed for everyone on here (with a test data example). This is the second one I've seen like this today.

  • Wow, $94 each way for 1 x 20kg bag. So at the cheapest rate for Sydney/Melbourne that's $986.

Yes, makes the many sub $1,000 deals to Europe on full service airlines that have popped up recently look very attractive.

    • Travel Hand Luggage Only

  • FAQ 1: How much is checked luggage?
    A: $94 each way.

Note: foot on scoot is horrifically expensive. Like 3x the price of a hot meal on AirAsia.

    • food? :)

      • +1

Thx, now I can't change it!

    • Its quite disgusting as well. Best take some sambos or rolls.

Is hot water still free? If so maybe you can bring some soup and tea.

$159 hidden extra costs (each way) if you want to take a bag and get a meal. Pretty sure both of those are 100% required if you're travelling to Greece.

    • +1

Not really hidden extra costs if they're only optional. Remember that this is a budget airline and you get what you pay for. You are basically saying Jetstar, RyanAir, VietJetAir, AirAsia all have hidden costs?

      • It's not optional. Nobody is flying to Athens for MINIMUM 18 hours with no food, drink or baggage; the price does not reflect the actual total cost of $508 (a 45% increase on the price the deal is advertised at!)

        • +4

I completely get where you're coming from (this isn't a bargain for me, as I'd much rather fly with a full service airline for better comfort, included amenities like food / luggage and the assumption that I'll get looked after if things go wrong). However, I disagree with your neg reason being that luggage and food are required - no doubt some poor fools will choose to travel with carry on luggage and take their own food?

        • @The Champagne Mile: I really don't think that any reasonable person would; hence they're advertising a 'minimum' price that the overwhelming majority of the population won't receive.

Possible to travel with only carry on.
I've done this for 2-3 weeks with only a carry on sized back pack.
It meant wearing clothes more than once, airing and then washing once a week.
(2 pairs of slacks, 1 pair of shorts, 4 shirts, travel towel, underwear and electronic devices and charges + clothes i am wearing).
Everything else i buy at destination (toiletries etc).
Bring food on the first leg and a bottle to fill up with water at departure gate.
Second leg is in Singapore ~ 3 hrs stop over on some flights I saw. You can get a more than a decent meal in Singapore for 10-20SGD (note even if i fly economy i still like to eat in between flights).
Purchase more food at Singapore Airport go take on the flight, rinse and repeat with bottle of water.

        • @The Champagne Mile:

… don't forget to fill up your water bottles at the gate, refill at the gate in Singapore.

          … wear all your clothes

Haha clearly I forgot where I was, sorry guys!

The meal and baggage is subsidising the cost of the flight; I guess if you're prepared to inconvenience yourself to this level of excess for a $160 saving, then it's a bargain!

    • LOL $65 for a meal? you're joking

    389 AUD from Gold Coast

Nice - once in Athens you could use www.norwegian.com to get to London (GBP99) and then New York (GBP149)..

    • +1

Also Ryanair flies ATH to STN or Easyjet from ATH to LGW. Some dates in June are 38 euros.

    • You could also go low cost to Bangkok and then fly Norwegian from there to Europe. Same as low cost 'Fly dubai' which also flies from Bangkok.

      • What is the best value euro arrival city using this method? I assume Norway?

  • +1

Sample dates I put in had a transit in Singapore for 21 hours, ok if you have somewhere to stay in Singapore but if you need to get a hotel must factor this in.

If you are seriously planning on booking with SCOOT

I'd recommend choosing the option 'FLY' only
then adding the food/luggage option after. Works out slightly cheaper

    • +1

Brilliant idea only when you flying direct.

Tried it on a different route that has a stop over, the cost of adding the meal x4 ended up costing more than the FlyBagEat option
