If I bought one previously, can we use the same base station and add on extra handsets?

One of mine came with a faulty handset, so just be aware to those purchasing - you might not get a full functioning set, and there's no warranty / customer service line that works anymore.

    • good question… i'd be interested to know this myself… not that i already have any doro handsets but im interested in potential expandability (ie: buy a triple and a double to potentially get 4/5 handsets)

      • I just bought another one anyway, hoping I'll figure it out somehow. I tried to do a google and found people selling one base station with a total of 6 handsets connected - so there must be a way?

      • Yes, very good question. I have a set and I wouldn't mind getting 2 more extensions. Does anyone know?

        • Grays appear to have them @ $19.95, click on their link and it should be down the bottom of the page.

@[Deactivated]: I got the below info from the manual:

            Register a new handset

All handsets included in the package are already registered to the base unit.
            Only for separate handsets/service measures.
You can register up to 6 handsets to one base unit.
This model is GAP (Generic Access Profile) compatible, which means that the handset and the base unit can both be used with most other GAP compatible units irrespective of manufacturer. However the GAP protocol cannot guarantee that all functions may be accessed. Extra handsets will not be available as accessories.
            1. Hold down J on the base unit until indicator flashes.
            2. Press . Scroll to Registrationegistrationegistrationegistrationegistrationegistrationegistrationegistrationegistrationegistrationegistration. Press OK.
            3. Enter the base unit’s PIN code (e.g. 0000). Press OK.
            4. If the registration is successful the unit will return to standby mode within one minute.

    • Did you try contacting Graysonline?
Im sure they would replace a DOA unit.

Are you sure about the warranty? I never had to call them cos my units are working fine.

      • Graysonline just told me all warranty claims are dealt with Doro, and it's explicitly stated on the invoice that where manufacturers warranty exists, we're only to deal with them. Naturally, Doro's warranty number diverts to voicemail.

        • If Doro's not handling (statutory, not manufacturer) warranties, then Graysonline must (for a fixed-price sale, not an auction). It's the wonder of the TPA.

If they're giving you the runaround then it might be a good idea to get in touch with your state's Fair Trading/Consumer Affairs department.

          • @lbft: Yeah, I would but I don't have the time - 2 out of 3 is still usable. If all 3 were broken, that's when I would actually bother since I would have no phone to use then.

            • @robhung: But yours is a DOA issue? Grays has to honour DOA claims.

I guess its too late to claim DOA now.

  • Good phone, good price.

  • Great thanks

  • hell…I bought this few months ago from this website for $45….

  • yeah, this one has no answering machine function

  • Does anyone know what frequency these operate on 1.8ghz or 5.4Ghz perhaps? I've been looking for some new cordless phones that doesn't get interference from my 2.4Ghz wi-fi.
    Thanks in advance

    • Looking now, one eBayer has it listed at 1.9 GHz, topbuy has it at 1.8Ghz.
Previous ozbargain has it at 1.9Ghz.

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/23330

    • this is a DECT phone, and so will operate somewhere between 1.8ghz and 1.9ghz as per DECT specification.
WDECT phones operate on 2.4ghz. Uniden (the major manufacture of WDECT phones) uses frequency hopping so as to avoid interference with other devices eg wifi. basically means you can jump around to a different part of the 2.4ghz spectrum and then there will be no interference.

"These are the best made cordless phones available right now anywhere in Australia"
    thats a big call…

  • Good grief, I remember when it cost at least $25 to buy a replacement battery for a cordless phone.

    • 1 hour of work = 3 Handset Coreless Phone? Indicates economic inbalances. Low prices = No profit on manufacturing, together with high wages leads to hollowing out of manufacturing (Even in China), too much reliance on services and inflation later on.

      But I bought one anyway.
Do as I say, not as I do.

      • It's not a normal price, this is GraysOnline after all so there's likely some unusual circumstances going on like liquidation, overstock or clearance of an old model.

    • dont they use stadard AAA rechargable batteries?

      • yeah… they use AAA rechargeable batteries

      • Yes they are 2 AAA rechargeable batteries

  • Damn… I just bought this last Thursday for $43 of ebay :(

  • Thanks OP, picked up a set.

  • Great buy! Bought 3 white ones with answering machine for $45 and work great with no interference and the loudspeaker is pretty good. Came with rechargeable batteries for each handset which was just perfect and would have set me back $10 or $15 anyway. Just was surprised it had an orange backlight at first because clear may have been better but it is a great phone thus far. I'm not fussed about the warranty as I just bought 3 black ones as back up s for $25.

    • is it easy to Register additional handsets from another set?

When I bought mine, I didnt have to do a thing.. it was just plug and play…. I assumed they all came programmed to the based they were shipped with because they were in a set.

Do they bases have some kind ID that the handdets are programmed to locate and sync with?

      Cheers

      • The normal way to set up DECT handsets with a base is to hold the connect button on the base until it starts bleeping loudly, then use the 'register' option in the phone's options menu. I assume this is something similar.

        • Thanks mate….

          I will try that…

Does that mean 2 systems can co-exist in the same environment?

  • Great timing OP! our phones are just about dead with the batteries on their last legs.
    Sweet bargain at $25 delivered!

  • Already received my phones - they are great thanks!

  • Received both sets of phones and registered to same base! Really happy with them - they are great!

  • Got my phones today. I paid $25 for the Black 2 handset version with no answering machine.

Was delivered the black THREE handset WITH answering machine. Cool =D

  • I got mine delivered yesterday. Got it up and running now
Loving the paging. Never had this function in my cordless phones before.

Can anyone tell me how 2 people can chat on the same line at once. e.g. My sister is in UK and mum and dad would like to talk to her at the same time.

    • In general, these systems are set up so that two handsets can't be on the line at the same time.

You can either put one handset on speakerphone and both be within hearing range of it, or put another phone on the line connected to a double adapter rather than on the same base station.

Edit: I haven't tried this particular phone (yet, I ordered and received one but it's still in its box) so don't listen to me, listen to auna down there :)

    • While on a proper phone call, press the button that looks like three pages (top left) and select Intercom. Press what handset to share the call with - 1,2,3,4,5 or 6. The handset you chosen will call. Answer and both are using the line and can talk.

      • awesome ordered 3 handset black and received on monday. works like a charm. thanks auna. I had assumed like other cordless you can be on 2 at the same time.
