Its already posted as you say its part of the catchathon

Thought it might help people who are specifically looking for these headphones if they were doing a search of the OzBargain website and would otherwise miss this opportunity if they didn't goto the COTD postings as there are a lot of stuff on offer in the July catchathon. Mods can always remove this post if they want to.

    • maybe the whole catchathon should not have been posted and then people could identify particular bargains - but on the other hand that would get a little silly as well… bit of tough one…

      • Post should have gone here! Doh!

"Yeah I can see how it could also go out of control if everyone decided that all of the other items in the catchathon sale merited there own posts as well… hmmm… an interesting circumstance. Again, Happy to remove this post if the Mods see it that way."

to be honest, 99% of the catch-a-thon stuff is crap. I much prefer these individual posts to a 'all of catchathon' post,, as it means someone else has sifted through all the garbage to highlight the good stuff for me :)

          • @salem: Agreed although maybe there could be one post for the best of !

  • Got this deal last time, great earphones love them so much more then my head-direct RE0

Really good price, cheapest on static ice is $450, but I just can't justify $300 for canal phones.

    $300 for earphones ???

    • lol yeah that's what i used to think (well i still do), but there's certain earphones like this the senheisher or watever which is highest quality with great sound as opposed to a few dollar earphones that we sometimes see on here. i personally wouldn't pay this much for earphones though..

      • i doubt i could tell the difference between these and a $100 pair of quality earphones…

        • -1

Many people can't, or don't find the difference worth it. These earphones definitely aren't for them.

Some people prefer the taste of a Grill'd burger while others are perfectly satisfied with a maccas grand angus. :)

        • If your listening to 128kbps then no, you won't be able to tell the difference. But if your listening to FLAC or Lossless then you most definitely will.

Can someone please let us know how good these babies really are? I know the critics and reviews for them have been glowing but some real life feedback from actual users will help a lot. Is this the Holy Grail of in ear earphones?

    • It depends on how picky you are… they're hands-down the best you can buy for $299 … or even $500. There are, IMO, better-sounding in-ears, but they cost waaay more (like $1.5-2k).

  • Sold out

  • You can not get better then best……

these are professional headphones….and there is no way u can get it at that price anywhere….even SE535 is due to sell in Australia, but they price tag at 600…

    299 for a pair of top of the range…is a bargain…

P.S. bought one in the last sell….

  • All I can says is, COTD is really screwing its Aussie customers on this one …..

The NZ COTD site also sells these for $299 NZD …. or ~$243 AUD! … Thats a whopping $55 premium to buy this in OZ!!!

Not choice at all bro (Insert kiwi accent here!).

      Damm you cotd!

  • will this earphone make looks or feels any better then using other cheaper ones?? bargain?? u must be crazy to called that a bargain, pffft $299

    • +3

it's like buying a BMW for $30k. It would be an absolute bargain, but if you're a Hyundai kind of guy, "pfft $30k".

      • -1

agreed….except that unlike a BMW…these lavishly priced earphones aren't going to land you chicks or make people turn in the street….so what's the point? :P

  • What's the use of these earphones when most people listen to compressed lossy mp3 music anyway?

    • maybe because the people who use these know better?

      …but I'm sure you'd know that since you're obviously intelligent ;)

    • Lossy compression does not mean poor-quality sound. There's more to good-sounding music than lossy compression.

The biggest problem with lower-quality earphones is terrible frequency response.

Low-quality earphones can, in any combination:

      • sound muffled
      • sound tinny
      • sound peaky in the mids
      • sound shrill
      • have poor, unenjoyable bass response
      • have no isolation so you need to crank up the volume, damaging your hearing
      • have poor sensitivity so you need to crank it up to hear it at all

Good earphones like these takes care of all the above far, far better than any cheap stuff.
Driving a luxury car down a bumpy road is far more comfortable than driving a cheap car with poor suspension down that exact same bumpy road. Likewise, listening to MP3 music with good earphones can sound much better than listening to MP3 music with crappy earphones.

I bet you probably can't tell the difference between a 256/320k MP3 and FLAC anyway. People who do A/B comparisons are looking for flaws. Music is meant to be enjoyed, not analyzed down to the perceived differences between high-bitrate perceptual coding and a PCM bitstream!

And as mentioned all over this deal, these earphones are not for everyone, the exact same way BMWs are not for everyone.

  • Agree, for anyone that hasnt try these headphones, please try it…
