  • oh hell yea

  • Good headset good price - for the price you pay on this, I bought this recently I thought the sound quality could be better… I hear the Sennheiser PXC 550 seems to be better on sound quality and QC35 better on comfort… if you are a QF FF member, might be worth consider getting the QC or the PXC through QF store using points as they were on sale.

    • +1

except the PXC 550 have the annoying design of the twisting of the earcups to turning them on.

    • +4

The Sony MDR-1000x is supposedly the king of the hill out of the 3.

      • +1

The Sony are good just not as comfortable as the Bose. The holy grail of NC phones is still waiting to be made….

        • checked ebay sold listings for the sony one guy sold the next day after buying from jb since he said not comfortable and another guy also had similar experience

        • @thelastnoob:

I have the Sony MDR-1000Xs and yes they arent quite as comfortable as the Boses, but they are still plenty comfortable for me and the sound quality is definitely better.

        • @cozmicf:

Yes depends on your user case. I use mine for long haul flights so comfort over sound for me. In saying that the Bose have very good sound and at this price a few hundred cheaper than the Sony.

    • I also agree the sound quality is good but not great on these. Would almost argue the sound quality of my sennheiser earphones are better!!

Noise cancellation is good though, also good comfort and battery life.

    • Using FF points for anything other than flights is always bad value….

    • Got 2 pairs of the PXC 550 in that sale. For 42k QFF's it's a steal. They're fantastic headsets.. yeh that twist to on/off is a bit annoying until you actually want to use it for that purpose!

    Limited quantity available

Going to sit this one out, gl to the buyers

    • +1

Same. Save myself the disappointment when I don't get one lol.

    • +1

Seems pretty easy to get a pair. Still in stock.

  • Bought thanks

  • +2

If you buy a pair, don't upgrade to the latest firmware …. the latest firmware degrades the sound quality of the headphones.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/bose/comments/5pn9g7/how_to_downgra…

    • crap just updated mine yesterday. will look at downgrading i guess

      • +2

ditto, you don't expect this from a company like BOSE…. I don't understand why Bose is still allowing the update to be applied.

Nonetheless, some connected devices seem to be more problematic then others. I have noticed my sound is more tinny when connect to my ipad.

For those yet to update, the firmware to be avoided is V1.2.9 (curiously the previous version was labelled V1.0.6).

        • +1

thanks for info though man! the downgrade was pretty painless though and didn't really notice any quality degradation this morning on the commute to work.

        • +2

          @ideasman:

          1.2.10 is out now

        • @futaris:

Damn, that was quick. Must have come out today, as I Only applied the update last night.

  • got some

  • +5

FYI - 12 Warranty is covered by COTD; not BOSE

    https://www.catchoftheday.com.au/product/bose-quietcomfort-3…

    • Yeah that sucks. Extended credit card warranty doesn't work for this either.

I knew there was a 'catch'

  • Bought, thanks OP.

  • looks like it's one of the cheapest prices in recent times - tempted

  • Anyone know if cotd will ship it with a tax invoice?

    • I just received an email tax invoice from COTD.
Maybe this isn't one of their grey import items.

      • +1

I just received an email tax invoice from COTD.
Maybe this isn't one of their grey import items.

A tax invoice has nothing to do with a product being a local product or a grey import.

      • If warranty is supplied by COTD then it is imported.

  • So tempted to buy another pair.

    • +11

      Got 4 ears?

      • Yo dawg I heard you like noise cancelling

    • Same! I have had the silver since release, but want the black now aha

  • bought! thanks

  • Can I have tax return at airport with this deal?

    • -2

Pretty sure you can, that is if it's 6months from purchasing

      • Pretty sure you can, that is if it's 6months from purchasing

It's 60 days! And you need a tax invoice and the product to claim.

  • +1

    64 sold in one hour.
    More than 62% sold.

Looks like they have about 40 or so left. Get in quick.

  • +1

A lot of discounts on these lately is their a model revision coming?

    • I would like to know this too

  • Yeah can you claim TRS with this?

    • I can't see why not…from the list below

      https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Ente/Tour/Are-you-a-traveller

    • i dont see why not. Got a tax invoice which shows abn for the full amount of $458.99 ( since the discount is an ebay discount). so that means if u get the gst back ($41.71) then it will only cost you $327.48!

    • -2

you could, but you are not suppose to bring whatever you claimed for TRS back to the country, if you get caught you will need to pay for the tax, maybe a fine too

      • +2

yes you can, just counts towards your duty free allowance.

        quote from TRS website:
Bringing goods back into Australia for which you have already received a TRS refund

If you are aged 18 years or over, you can bring up to AUD 900 worth of goods into Australia duty-free, or AUD 450 if you are younger than 18. Families travelling together can pool this allowance (a couple with one child can bring in a total of AUD 900 + AUD 900 + AUD 450 = AUD 2250 worth of goods into Australia without paying duty or GST). This is called your passenger concession.
If the total value of the goods you are bringing into Australia is greater than your passenger concession, including goods for which you have previously claimed a tax refund under TRS and any purchased overseas:
you must declare all of these goods
you will need to repay the GST refund back on the goods you claimed under the TRS
duty and GST will apply to all items purchased, not just goods over the limit of your passenger concession.
Penalties can apply if you don’t declare that you have goods in excess of your passenger concession.

        • Cool, logistically speaking, how does this work? For example, I'm headed to Bali in June so if I was to make a TRS claim what sort of timeframe does something have to be purchased within before a claim can be made? You just need a tax invoice from any supplier for a eligible product? Are there any other tips/gotchas?

        • +1

@Schikitar: Up to 60 days, make sure the item is with you when you go to the TRS office at the airport.

  • dont forget cash rewards 1.3% and i think that's off the original price

  • more than 90% sold!

  • bought 2!!! oh yeha!!!

  • Gone. Managed to get 1

  • 101 sold, none left. Had it in my cart, hesitated and now it's gone.

    • +10

Rule no 1 of ozbargain, buy now regret later :)

  • And now sold out….

  • +6

Can resist the temptation, now I just saved $369.19

  • I bought on my mobile phone and couldn't apply the voucher anywhere and it automatically paid through my bank.
How do I get a refund for the 20%?

    • I bought on my mobile phone and couldn't apply the voucher anywhere and it automatically paid through my bank.

Why did you submit the order instead of entering the code? It didn't automatically do anything, you had to confirm the order multiple times.

How do I get a refund for the 20%?

Ebay MIGHT give it to you if you contact them but they are not obliged to do so.

      • Normally when I press confirm it will ask me to go to my PayPal password and confirm - I tried entering the code but didn't work, thought it'd be on the next page. So it only asked confirmation once which went straight to paid.

        • Did you click 'Buy It Now'?

        • Always select 'Add to Cart'

  • wow.. out of stock already…

  • +2

$30k of headphones in an hour….not bad

  • Godammit, missed another deal on these, I even have alerts set - stupid work distracting me from my Bose email alerts!

    • +3

Should have taken a day off just for ebay sale like a true Ozbargainer

      • The regret is real.

  • +1

Ha haaaaaa. Finally got it !!!

  • God damnit Missed out!! Could have claimed them as a business purchase to use at work as well.

  • +1

my order is cancelled by COTD today, saying there was an errer with the ebay listing. I was ranked around 75th in the order list.
    very disappointed.

    • Same here, order got cancelled. Worst experience ever.

    • sorry to hear that. I just received mine and mine was around the 80th ordered.

    • That sucks, especially since you weren't one of the last to order. I wonder how they decided who missed out.

Mine arrived just before 11 this morning.

      • Did you even get a notification and tracking number? I haven't heard a peep

        • I didn't get an email from COTD in particular.
I got an email from eBay when they marked it as posted, then I got an email from AusPost tracking. I assume this is because I have my postal address registered with an AusPost account.

        • Mine was cancelled shortly after I asked today about when the item is being posted

Just gave COTD a NEGATIVE on EBAY please do the same
They took my money for a week and paypal to bank another 3 days for 10 days total

They should know how much stock they have

  • My order cancelled too.
