  • Can you load kodi on this what else is this good for other then netflix ? Thanks

    • Nope. If you have a smart tv, gaming console or a anything of the sort this won't be of much use. The range of apps available on this are very limited and they can be found on better platforms.

  • Can you use NRL app on this and watch live full screen?

    • Not according to T&C's. But you could get the Foxtel channels through Telstra TV.

      • yeah didn't think so, if that was the case they would lose big $$$

    • +1

According to the Telstra TV site you can watch NRL through the app. Click on the 'Sports' tab near the bottom of the page. You can run the NRL digital pass through Kodi though and Livestream too. Livestream is full screen, DNS or VPN required though.

  • What tier Netflix is it?

    • +1

From "Things you need to know":

Two Screens at a Time Streaming Plan

    • From the last Telstra Netflix deal, what they did was credit my account ($72?) which would cover 6 months of the 2 screens+HD, but I believe you can switch to the other plans and use that same $72 credit.

  • Interested, but my TV already has Netflix app, do I still need this box?

Does the box replace TV antenna (since everything streams over the net)?

    • That depends, do you want Foxtel Play?

I don't think this box should replace your antenna for free-to-air channels.

  • how much does it normally cost? and is it any better than my xbox?

    • +1

Seriously - use the web people's… $109, and no.

    • +1

$109 it seems (and includes 6 months of Netflix).

  • Good post. Got me off my arse to sideload foxtel go on nexus player. Can share password and cancel sub now

  • +10

Not only did I not want one of these, but (profanity) Telstra sent me two of them for free when I signed up a while back.

If anyone actually wants one, PM me and if you shoot me the shipping cost you can have the thing for free, been doing nothing but wasting space in my laundry cupboard for months now anyways.

(One's unopened, the other was opened and used for like half an hour or so of YouTube, then put back in it's box)

Super generous mate…not putting my hand up for one as I already have 3 myself, but +1 for the gesture ;)

    • Happy to chip in with your generosity! I have PM'd you!

    • I sent a PM myself. I gather you have quite a few requests by now. Thank you.

    • +4

I've got 13 messages about, I'll hit up the first two dudes later tonight because I'm out and whatnot at the moment.

  • For those that have this roku box, can you pls confirm if you can install Lyca TV https://channelstore.roku.com/details/73392/lyca

    • +1

Seems like you need to get an actual Roku for this. Found some on ebay one has a DOA warranty I'm thinking to give it a go

  • The sites been ozbargained.

  • Showed up as $89 but confirmed through for me at $109
I wanted a 2nd unit anyway and was oK with this price but buyer beware

    • +1

That happened to me too but there was an option later in the checkout process to put the code in

  • +1

Thanks OP. Ordered 3 hours ago and already have shipping notification.

  • +4

Ordered yesterday 8/02/17 and shipped out today 9/02/17 on Startrack overnight. So it doesn't look like the 15 business day estimate is entirely accurate.

    • Same for me, expected tomorrow.

  • Does this support full youtube functionality (not interested in casting youtube from phone to this) including logging into your youtube account and viewing personalised content?

    • Yep - you can log in and see your subscriptions / library / history etc…oh, and you can cast to the TTV too ;)

  • Could you buy the unit in store with the code to get the discount and ensure you can activate it on time?

    • +1

      From the OP:

      Offer only available online

      • Sorry - went through the replies in the thread, didn't think of checking the OP more closely!

Ordered mine yesterday. Setting it up right now. Far South Coast of NSW.

    Awesome

Trying to sort out my free 6 months. This is a new low from Telstra. Its in German (I think)

Edit: Appologies to Telstra, your service is still crap thoguh, but this was my fault, I was connected via VPN through Finland

  • +1

Ordered mine last night at 9pm and I received the email with StarTrack details around midday today. It's overnight so will be here by Monday.
Just FYI in case people are holding off due to the "15 working days" message.

  • Anyone have trouble redeeming the Netflix freebie? Mine takes me to some Netflix activation page and then it gives me an error and takes me back to the Netflix homepage.

    • There should be a code that you add to an existing Netflix account.

    • Log in to Netflix on a new tab on your browser, then click on the Telstra freebie link (from another tab you already had open).

    • Thanks all… I use the "redeem" link from TelstraTV mgmt page and for some reason it kept giving me errors however I used online chat and the support person said it was applied properly so all is well. I logged out and back into my netflix account and it was applied.

  • +1

Ordered mine and had it 24 hours later so no issue with supply in Melbourne it seems.

  • Damn looks like i missed this :(((

6 month Netflix deal still working apparently:

      https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2460405&…

      • I bought one and it arrived on 15/2. Courier left a card, but I haven't picked it up from the post office. Was thinking to not collect it so it goes back to Telstra and I get a refund because I wanted the Netflix offer. Am tempted to risk picking it up now and trying my luck…

        • No good… Activated and received an email with the Netflix offer, but when I click through to Netflix, is says that offer had expired.

  • +1

Netflix no longer offered? why is this a highlighted deal? Should change the title to reflect that.

    • Been reactivated.. by report by me..
It's the price of $89 using the NETBALLTTV code that is still active.

      • But I dont see the netflix option.

        • Probably the Netflix option has expired..
This was more about getting a Set Top box with all local catchup services available to me.. $89 is $20 discount, still a bargain in my books.
Deal still shows as expired to me as well, so I'm not sure what you guys are seeing different?
