      I suppose its mainly good bargains that have appeared of late that's raised the bar on what we can get with that same amount of money. I dont actually dislike AMD in any way (My gaming desktop is an FX-8320) but their past performance with Laptop CPUs leaves a lot to be desired with heat and power usage. Not to mention a lot less in actual CPU performance. Not quite a Ford vs Holden example when there's a pretty big divide in those above points.

    I think its good value, not a fan of AMD CPU's, but for the average non-gamer/home-office worker who just wants to surf the net, send emails, watch YouTube and create a few Word documents, its a pretty decent machine.

    Hi ozbargainersss! I think im pretty tech savy until it comes to PCs/macs etc. I have an old sony vaio (10 years old) still works really well but with my new gopro 5 4k filming technology the computer is simply a flop….. its cant even handle 1080p filming properly (gets jumpy and freezes the screen with audio continuing on). Would this laptop be able compute movie editing of a 4k filming file or do i need something more expensive? Any opinions/advice are greatly appreciated

      4k video editing requires as good as a processor as you can afford. Unfortunately AMD's current generation of processors are lagging behind when it comes to compute performance and thermal efficiency. This A12 processor for e.g could be compared against a Kaby Lake i3.

      for video editing workstation you should actually consider getting a desktop, not a laptop

      A $1200 laptop can be easily outperformed by a $800 desktop (cost of parts).

        good info. Thanks a lot. I think desktop is the way to go then. I could just use it on my tv as well i imagine instead of buying a monitor etc as well. I already have a mouse keyboard etc laying around somewhere. Cheers scrimshaw!
