Hoping OzBargainers find and post some really good deals from among these retailers.

    • +2

It's a bit of a PITA that you have to go instore in order to claim the deal.

  • Wish it was $30 for every $90 like last time…

    • +4

      Wasn't it $30 off $60 spend?

    • +3

It was $30 credit for $60 spend and another time it was $30 credit for $70 spend.

  • Do you think for dreamworld it would also include all the stores at dreamworld eg purchasing food/photos or purely just ticket purchase? Thanks

    • +26

I reckon if you purchased one of their $80 Hot Dog meal deals you would get $20 back.

      • +6

Don't forget the 25% Amex surcharge though. They're not a charity.

  • +11

    Umart for the win

    • +5

Wait till they say you can't use multiple cards in one transaction.

      • Would they do that? If they charge a fee for credit card payment then logically it shouldn't make a difference whether we pay on one card vs multiple.

        • They're well within their rights to only accept one card per transaction. If they're happy to split it then that's a bonus.

    • +2

Remember Umart has a 3% credit card fee, so really it's $17.60 off or less.

      • +4

I was at Milton, QLD yesterday and it was 1.5% on my AMEX.

        • Yes, it is 1.5% now.

  • I'm confused, I don't see Umart on the enrollment page.

    F

    • +5

      No F words please.

      • +4

That's ok, that was just an F letter.

        • -2

It's amazing what people waste their 5 negs per day on! If I had that many negs to spare I'd be a homeowner!

  • +1

Wow umart.com.au is now on the list. It's been awhile since I purchased from them. Does they still charge something like a 3% surcharge on creditcard usage?

    • +3

      They do, yep.

    • +1

      And 20% restocking fee…..

      • Restocking fee.. are they associated with CPL?

    • I think only one of their shops in Sydney accepted AMEX last time around… Are they franchises? It looks like the same list of shops for the Click Frenzy offer. Another CF event?

    • -2

Gift cards are excluded under the T&Cs.

      • +1

I like how they have discounted all of the gift cards. Look here is a $100 gift card you can pay $110 for, but for our low low online price you can get it for only $100!

    • -2

In case someone doesn't believe me, here it is in black and white:

The following transactions are not eligible and will not count towards your spend for the purposes of
      the offer:

      • transactions where you do not spend directly with the merchant (for example, if you buy the
        merchant’s goods through a third party department store);
      • transactions processed through a third party payment processor (for example, PayPal);
      • transactions that are subsequently cancelled or refunded;
      • transactions where you buy a gift card, store credit or a voucher. [bold emphasis added]

How do they know what item you purchased? Isnt it aagnist privacy laws to pass this information on?

Are you new to AMEX Statement Deals?

        • -1

          Is that a rhetorical question?

        • +2

@inherentchoice: No, did you take up these offers previously? I did and so did many others.

Maybe you work at Harvey Normans? Remember that saga!

        • @Turd: 1. They probably don't know. 2. Depends on their privacy collection notice. 3. No.

I know people pretty much get away with it all the time but what I said is 100% factual.

        • @inherentchoice: Oh ok, Smoking Weed is illegal as well. But yeah. :)

          Enjoy your spending on amex's!

  • -6

I got cba Amex and when I am trying to get this offer it showing with the error message tgat offer has been expired. I have tried to save TGI offer and that worked. I m using my mobile. Any ome else had that experience?

    • +1

      Not active yet.

Title needs to change to make it clear.

      • thanks should have checked. Need my coffee. Have a great day.

      • Edited with starts 21/2

    • Your mobile card has a different ID than the physical card. My offers registered for the CBA AMEX physical card don't work when i pay with my mobile.

  • +12

Spend $80, 3x times at Haigh's? That sounds like a challenge to me!

    • +1

      Challenge accepted?

      • Not hard to spend that much there but harder to finish them all. Perhaps I'm getting old but trying to swallow half a box of those 360g Malteses is a bit of a challenge nowadays.

        • +17

Try taking them out of the box first.

        • -1

          @shiznit:
There's no fun in that, gotta do it the Peter Griffin's way.

        • I'd be more than happy to take the leftovers :P

    • +1

I believe it is up to 3 times but once only per store.

      • +1

Damn you fine print. I'll just have to restrict it to my easter presents.

        • +1

          Easy get more amex

      • +1

Haigh's has more than three stores. ;) But it's only once per "participating business". :(

    • Starts after valentine's day. Hmm… Early Easter shopping? Who am I kidding, any purchases won't make it to then…

      • well I had my first Hot Cross Bun on 28 Dec, so there is the precident for an early practice session.

    • agreed - Be great if their Easter stuff has arrived.

    • +2

Just get a Haigh's gift card and you can spread your chocolate binging habits. 🤐

      • Now thats a great idea!

  • -2

clicked through fine but said offer expired when attempting to save to card

    • +8

      Read the post properly…..

    • +3

I think a lot of us will miss that bit of the post. Something to bookmark in the calendar :)

    • Why did you click through? Did you read the first of the description?

  • Time to get cheaper opera tix!

  • +1

How did you hack in Amex system and find out the inactive offer?

    • +2

      ask the legend, forumninja.

      • I don't think he will disclose… lol…

        • +7

If he/she does disclose then Amex might close the loophole, which is not in our interest.

        • @inherentchoice:

my interest would be save the offer before everyone do… lol….

        • @GundamZeta:

Limited to 30,000 cards and you still have that mindset?

        • @m9:

I will kick myself if I failed to add if I'm 30001… lol

        • @GundamZeta:

          lol slowpoke :P

I will remind you when it goes live.

    • +3

You have to be well-versed in the shinobi arts.

      Agree with inherentchoice.

  • +3

A silly question. Is the registration active date the same as the deal start date, which is 21st Feb? I just don't wanna miss the registration.

  • Time to buy!

    • Buy what?

  • +1

signed up for Amex Essential and ANZ Traveller Amex. Hopefully they arrive soon!

  • which shop sells rings and jewellery?

    • not sure about the rest, but wallace bishop does

  • Do you think the dreamworld one would include the lego store?

    • Yes it does, aka 25% off LEGO up to $80 unless you use 10+ amex's

  • Disappointing to see Nauru Airlines drop off the merchant list this time around

    • One way ticket?

  • Umart could be useful, but they never have stock of anything. Everything is 'pre-order' with no ETA. Unreliable.

  • Yay, first decent round of Amex offers this year! Good spread of stores, so time to start scouting for things I need or don't need :P

  • Can also get a House gift card. Need to just buy a $75 and $5 one in the same transaction

  • This might be a stupid question but can you spend $240 and get $60 back? Or does it have to be 3 different transactions?

    • +1

All three transactions have to be at different businesses. Your question will work if you have three Amex cards though. Just make sure you use all three when you spend the $80 x 3 at the store.

      • +1

Gotta make sure the shop allows split payments. Crappy places like many Westfield concierges don't.

  • thanks for sharing
    need a monitor

  • Is this ever activating?…

    • Yes. Tomorrow. 21/2.

      • +1

finally able to pay for some shoes @ Mountain Designs :). Thankfully put away behind the counter….last day of double rewards as well to give an extra discount. $270 - $54 + $24 (misc purchase) - $60 on 3 amex's = $180. Winning

  • how many hours after this activates will it expire due to customers buying heaps quickly

  • +4

    It's up!

  • +3

Excludes phone orders and online purchases.

    Note that for Umart.

    • +4

Lucky umart allows you to place your order online then pay upon pickup, which allows you to use this offer

      • Do Victoria Mrt Waverly Umart allows you to pickup? I can't see there is an option for pick up when check out.

        • Just Found out Mt Waverly store Victoria is under renovations currently. So its not taking walk in or pick up orders that is why the option is disabled on their webstie.

    • That really kills the deal for Allans Billy Hyde. The only stuff I want is out of stock unless you call in your order…

  • hi all, for anyone with the amex issued card, and has supplementary card added:
after you login to amex website, under "offers and places" how many times you need to activated this offer? i mean i need to activate under my main and then activate for my supp as well?
or just my main but i can use both card to get 2 credits back?
