  • Thanks, just in time for my trip!

My question is that do they expire because I'd like to get free shipping so need to get 2 sim cards…

    • Hi iSamurai,

The SIM cards 28 day expiry will start once activated. The SIM itself prior to activation does not have a shelf life :)

Once activated and the SIM has not been used it will become redundant after 1 year. If this happens, you will need to purchase a new SIM card.

      Hope that helps!

      -Michael

      • Sorry, what I meant was the last date to activate the SIM, which I see is now answered below. Thanks.

  • when is the last date to activate the service?

    • Hi bctransit,

You can purchase this SIM and hold onto it for as long as you need before activating. No shelf life!

      Hope this helps,

      Thanks!

  • Hey any guarantee it'll arrive on/before Friday if I order today?? We leave for NZ on Sunday night.

    • Hey Lizzle,

Most definitely the SIM will reach you in time if you purchase express post (1-2 business days)

If you're located in Melbourne or Sydney, it will be next day delivery! :)

Used this on our trip back in November and it was really handy. Cheapest I could find for sure.

    • Really glad that you found it handy 0HERD0! :)

  • 500MB is a litle light on for data. Are we able to purchase the data packs? $20 for 1GB makes Australian mobile data look cheap.

      Hi Mathew,

You can most definitely purchase extra data through 2Degrees.

We find most of our customers that are looking to purchase more data will buy an extra sim(s)

  • Hi Michael

Do you allow pick up of this SIM from your store?

    Regards

    Dinesh

    • Hi Dinesh,

Unfortunately we don't do a store pick up. It's definitely something we'll have in the near future!

At this current time it's delivery only :)

A word of caution. I'm in NZ now and purchased one of these SIMs last year using a similar deal to this one for my current trip. I have "managed" to send just one (YES! ONE! One, 1, 1 only) txt to Australia. - so much for unlimited SMSs!!

I have made 7 calls to 2degrees support seeking assistance and while call centre staff have endeavoured to assist, the technical problems I've experienced have been beyond their level of expertise. The problem was escalated to their so-called technicians but there's been no solution provided. In fact, they have not contacted me despite me making an 8th contact.

After the 7th call - and I'd been very patient and courteous (my travel mates says I was too patient and too courteous) I was provided with a wee bit more data to enable me to send text messages via Messenger App.

    Once bitten, twice shy.

    • There are heaps of 2degree outlet in NZ. why don't you pop in the outlet and seek help from them?

      • Good idea, GundamZeta. I'll give it a go but I suspect I"ll be wasting another hour (or more!) on this.

        • As expected, visiting a 2degrees shop was a complete waste of time. Store person endeavoured to troubleshoot a solution but it was well and truly in the too hard basket. On checking my sim's details I was told to wait for a response from the upper level technical staff - I'm not holding my breath.

  • Sweet, $9 is worth the risk. Need one of these puppies for a wedding in July I'm going to.

  • Thank you :)

I already ordered a free sim from here http://freevisitorsim.com/

Seems to be the same provider, but I figured with your deal I'll just keep that sim as a spare or somthing..

Off to NZ in August 2017 :D

    • The $9 deal definitely looks like better value if you plan to spend any time on the phone, as Visitor rate is 44c/minute, 9c/text & 50c/MB

      • yeah but they allow you to do the $19 topup like this deal if you want to as well, but lucky I got this one as well :)

    • Is this site legit? I saw it last year before I went to NZ but decided against it.

I ordered the a free Spark sim delivered to the hotel but they ended up dropping it at the local PO, and it was over the easter weekend meaning that there's no way I could go pick up. You can top up with $3 for 100 MB of data, which should be enough for maps/googling if you use it in conjunction with wifi hotspots in hotels/shops.

Ended up getting a 2degrees carryover combo sim from the auckland CBD shop for $5 — they usually have this promo on during major holidays like easter, Anzac etc.

  • OP do we know the number prior to activation?

    • +1

      Hi sqeeksqeek,

You most definitely do! It's provided on the packaging of the SIM :)

      -Michael

  • OP,
I still haven't received my order from the last promo; ordered on 1st Feb
Checking the order online still shows
"We've accepted your order, and we're getting it ready."

    Can you help check?
