Does p9 have double tap to wake?
Sounds like lots of people don't like EMUI. Any good feedback on this phone?

    • you dont' need double tap, you finger is automatically on scanner position to unlock the phone.

      • +2

And how would you define automatic? Say the device is sitting on a flat surface and you need to take a peek at your notifications but can't be bothered to press the power button (or home button if there's one), what then do you do? Turn the phone over and touch the fingerprint sensor?
Whether or not one needs double tap to wake is a matter of preference. I loved it on my HTC One M8 and still enjoy it on LineageOS 14.1

        • Agree. If you turn on fingerprint lock, Funny is you need to use number digit passcode to unlock from front, cantnot use pattern.

    • My father owns this phone. The phone is very snappy. The only complaint I have is the camera speed and night time quality could be better. Otherwise it is a very solid yet light phone.

So the dual lens camera is not as good as Samsung s7?

        • +2

Nowhere near as good dare I say.

        • +1

Not even close :P Daytime photos are quite good quality though.

        • @spaghettiman: daytime are actually amazing and night time can be excellent but more tweaking than a G5 or Samsung s7 or iPhone is necessary to get it right. I think it's a pretty good phone. Very cheap on a virgin or optus plan at the moment.

    • There is a upgrade on EMUI to 5.0, which is much more refined and closer to android experience. You can google it.

  • +3

I think it's overpriced especially considering the phone is almost 1 year old with mediocre hardware to begin with.

Second sim is 3g or 4g?

  • +3

Price is too HIGH. There will be lot more other company phones with higher flagship and will be cheaper.

  • Which one is better, this phone or Oppo R9s ?

  • Got one from Harvey Norman (you could still order them online even though none available in melb in Jan) for $598.
Very happy with it, the only issue i've had is getting accessories. If you order one, make sure you order a case and screenprotector at the same time.
For a grey import this seems to be about the right price. Not sure if grey imports have B28 frequency for Telstra 4G, but the local ones from HN, JB etc. do.

    • The L19 model, the one listed in the deal doesn't have Band 28 and doesn't have NFC. Also the 2nd SIM takes the spot of the SD card.

Good phone, though. Got myself the L09 version last year.

      • Are you saying the L19 doesn't support SD cards then?

        • I mean that the 2nd sim slot is a dual purpose slot that either takes another sim card or a micro-SD card. So you can either have two sims, or one sim and a micro-SD card.

Good price for this mobile but when you consider this is

    • overseas stock
    • will take few weeks to arrive
    • eBay is chipping in 20% discount
    • almost an year old phone

    ~ $520 seems bit overpriced.

    • I won't get grey import for just $70 of saving.

  • Bought it for $539 for my wife when it was first released using ebay 10% sitewide offer from qd-au
very fast phone for the price.
My wife had a very proud experience with the night time photo, she held a play group at home late last year, one of the activity is turn all the lights off but only have the disco light on so the kids can chase the laser light on the ceiling, everyone else with either iphone 7,galaxy s7 couldn't get the photo to look like the real scene, but the p9 did it,the photo from p9 looks just like what the eyes see,all the mothers were asking what phone is it,my wife said it's just a Huawei, they were very surprised their $1200 iphone couldn't reproduce the scene.
She was gonna buy iphone 7 before, but I bought her a p9,she liked th phone a lot more after that day.

  • Got one through Telstra staff plan, total cost $480 for 2 years.
Very fast phone, latest OTA B378 upgrade is great and runs very stable on Android 7 Nougat.
Dual lens and monochrome are the highlights of this camera, camera produces the best color balance photos, well deserve the LEICA logo, and long exposure is stunning. Check the best review from photographer.

But few users said night time photography isn't good with this…

  • Fake bokeh (background blur) is fantastic and enhances any portrait photo or photo where you want to focus on a particular subject. Sure the sharpness and speed may be able to worse than the latest Samsung or iPhone but I find I get much nicer and more artistic shots from the P9. The colour rendering is also great.

  • P10 is around the corner by reading the articles on internet. Maybe it's worthwhile to wait for the new version.

    • slight correction: worthwhile to wait to buy P9 once P10 is out.
never buy newly released product, you pay premium for the research+marketing.
get the one generation before as they want to get rid of old stocks.

      be smart!
