  • Nice. I used this last time for my Wolgan Valley holiday. Bit of a drop in the ocean in savings and I think I could not split the payment across credit cards but I'll have to confirm with my wife on that one.

That being said any saving is appreciated.

    • +1

fyi every year there seems to be 40-50% off Wolgan Valley, usually in June/July :)

      • +1

Thanks. It sure I would like to stay at Wolgan Valley during that time period though. I would miss the outdoor activities too much. Especially the horse riding. Swimming in the private indoor pool would be fun when it is raining though.

      • If only we could stack these deals, we could stay at that resort for (just) less than a thousand dollars a night! AMAZING

    • Why is someone who can afford to stay at Wolgan Valley on this site?!

      • +5

That is one of the reasons why they can afford it !!!

      • +3

        Dual income no kids. 😄

        • And no mortgage either I presume ;)

        • +2

@Meconium: Just a small one on the main house. I give it about 18 months before that is run down to zero. :-)

        • @danielh: then Wolgan away my man!

    www.luxuryescapes.com

Have you looked at their prices ??

    • Yes - and?

      • +4

Can you list any bargains? because I can't find any.

        • A 2 night escape to Brisbane for $299 and then just buy a sachet of sugar for $1 for your $50 coffee at the hotel.

          @bricabrac89:

A 2 night escape to Brisbane for $299

Wotif has them listed for $143 per night… Could probably find it much cheaper by searching and using promotion codes.

        • @jv:

          That is true.

But, with the statement credit it is effectively $120 per night. Plus the 240 amex/velocity/qantas points you get for the purchase, assuming you wont get points on the $60 credited amount.

        • @bricabrac89:

You won't get statement credit for spending $299

        • @jv:

          That's why I said

You need to make a purchase on www.luxuryescapes.com to qualify for cashback, not at the hotel.

It also needs to be part of the same transaction.

        • @jv: Which is why you just buy a $300 gift card and us up $299 on the Luxury Escape and leave $1 left in your Luxury Escape account for the next holiday.

        • @danielh:

Do you have a link to the gift cards?

        • @danielh:

That's just a screen to join up as a member.

        • @jv: I think you have to join first before you can see that page as it loads up the giftcard page for me with no issues. Even the actual HTML link implies giftcards. Have you joined up yet?

        • @danielh:

          Have you joined up yet?

          Not unless there are bargains.

        • @jv: you should sign up. There are quite a few good luxury deals on the site.

        • @jv: You're not comparing apples with apples, their deal includes daily breakfast + dessert, and a bunch of other stuff.
So on that basis it's cheaper than Wotif. But if you don't care about the extras and you just want the room, then you should book via Wotif in this case.

  • What's available for $300?

    • +11

Probably a glass of champagne at one of their hotel's bars…

  • Damnit! Just booked two locations through them last week, thanks anyway though

    • Are they cheap compared to Agoda?

      • Not seem Agoda (thanks, will look into this), but I would say the only way Luxury Escapes are "cheap" would be in comparison to the"normally costs" quoted pricings

    • Thank you. Added to OP :)

    • +2

      Thanks forumninja.
      Oh oops.

      • +5

I was on a plane and too cheap to pay for the wifi.

        • Aren't wifi complimentary with First Class?

  • I see a gift card link at the top of their website. Anyone tried it yet?

    • Nice. I would say that will work (despite what people might read in the terms and conditions). Just need to check the luxury escapes conditions of using gift cards for their deals. They may only allow two gift cards per deal or something like that.

      • +3

        Just called up Luxury Escapes.

Basically you can buy a $300 gift card which will be emailed to you.

You then (when you are ready), attach that $300 credit to your Luxury Escapees account and it will then be used to drain off against whatever holiday you buy.

Reading this through with my OzBargain lens. This means I can just go and buy a whole stack of $300 LE gift cards on various AmEx cards and then pool all these electronic gift cards into a single LE account thus potentially benefitting from the Amex $60 deal multiple times.

As many of us here know, AmEx has a very hard way to tell if you have purchased a gift card or another product and so it is highly likely that we will receive the $60 credit.

        Hope this helps.

        • beat me to it

there are a few things to consider (ive never purchased from luxuryescapes but their deals are very good)

          • can you use multiple gift cards to purhcase, eg $900 ($300x3)
          • it says on t/c that gift cards arent valid, but it seems amex dont track

if it works its a pretty good deal!

        • @hellohello123:
has anybody managed to use multiple gift cards against one travel deal?

    • Re gift cards, see this comment from a previous AmEx Luxury Escapes post that suggests it works.

    • +1

      Officially, not valid:

      C. Transactions that are not eligible
The following transactions are not eligible and will not count towards your spend for the purposes of the offer:
      transactions where you do not spend directly with the merchant (for example, if you buy the merchant’s goods through a third party department store);
      transactions processed through a third party payment processor (for example, PayPal);
      transactions that are subsequently cancelled or refunded;
transactions where you buy a gift card, store credit or a voucher.

      But YMMV

  • Can you split payments? Can't seems to find that option on the website.

  • Any deals

    • +4

None listed in the description thus far…

  • Quick question if you book through luxury escape do you still get reward points on hotel reward programs? Eg Accor, spg, Hilton honor etc.

    • +1

I doubt it. All the reward programs list the places bookings give reward points and it's usually only booking direct with them.

    • I booked for ten nights in the Conrad Hilton Hong Kong last year (double 5 day deal put together) and I didnt get any Hilton points even though I was Diamond status etc. I complained to them and they said that I got the deal on a discount and so did not qualify. They gave me 10000 points as a sorry message.

That being said. When I stayed in Wolgan Valley last month they will be giving me Qantas points as it is owned by Emirates. Still waiting for the points though.

      • did you get access of executive lounge access with Diamond status?

        • Yes, I booked the floor just below the Executive Lounge as it had some of the best wider views and just walked up the internal staircase to the Lounge itself.

Basically I received full privileges as a Diamond guest even thought I paid cheaper prices (roughly AU$540 per night).

    • 99% of the time no. The most you might get if you protest is some status recognition to get a drink, lounge or upgrade but this in the 1% bucket.

      • Really? I find myself in the exact opposite. No matter how cheaply I paid for a hotel or flight, if I had the status, I will get the recognition. EG. my experience in Conrad Hilton Hong Kong last June, my cheap Qantas flights but still full recognition as a Gold flyer, I got some super cheap rate for my recent Singapore Intercontinental (airport) stay and got a suite upgrade as I was IHG Spire Elite.

There may be a difference in how many status points you may get but the service and perks should stay consistent.

        • flights are a different kettle of fish definitely … doesn't matter if you buy your flight from a dude on the street corner it is tied to your FF account ..not so for hotels ..they want a direct booking on their site so they can cut out the commission. Why? Airline pays expedia 1-5% on commissh but the hotel is paying 18-25%

  • Damn, I just booked a hotel through them last week. Oh well, their prices are typically far better than other websites so I'm sure I'll find another reason if I buy a gift card.

    • If you have the date guarantee thing maybe you can give it really hard to match dates and get your money back? Once done you get the Gift Cards and rebook assuming the deal is still there.

  • All enrollments gone.
