SYMA X8G 2.4GHz 4CH RC Quadcopter with 8MP HD Camera $143.20 @ Superhobbystore eBay

50
CUTE

These were selling like hotcakes when they were 20% off in January.
I'm assuming folk knew what they were doing, even though i've seen reviews with them disappearing on first flight, and wiring issues.

If anyone has personal experience that would be useful…

[UPDATE] I wouldn't get this - check out the MJX Bugs 3 mentioned below…

There are better buys out there for the same money.Ive been flying quads for about 4 years now the best brushed Quadcopter I always recommend is the yizhan x6 tarantula from banggood, 300 metre range plug and play motors plenty of power 12 min plus flight time. But the best bang for buck at the moment with out question is the mjx bugs.Brushless motors plenty of power on 2s,its a beast on 3s independent esc,s very very stable.Great bright lights for night flying 14-18 min flight time I was that impressed I bought two.I have countless quads from 50 dollars to 500 I always lately go for the bugs very nice indeed. My kids shake there head at me as I love these things,my eldest daughter is 30 thats showing my age.
    Yizhan tarantula about 80 dollars
    Mjx bugs about 150 delivered
    From banggood or gearbest
    Enjoy your flying

Vermin76 just go with the bugs my friend you wont regret it,bayangtoys is nice to but a bit hit n miss ive heard the motors are a bit hit n miss, ive also been told that mjx are re releasing the bugs with altitude hold and headless you dont want that buy this current model, its a beast.

  • Ryanek,a lot have jello, just make a credit card camera mount, dont buy the tarantula with camera buy the fpv kit for about 65-70 aussie dollars nice screen and camera for the money. The fpv kit can be used on any quad because it has it own power supply.

Thanks for the tips. I recently dipped my toes in the water so I thought I should buy the GoolRC T6 Waterproof Drone RTF when it was on special on ozb for about $30. Quite happy with it for an entry level quad. Going off your review I went on another impulse buy today and bought the bugs 3. As far as I can see the only bummer is not being able to buy extra batteries.

      • Battery 7.4V 25C 1800mAh ~ $30 here and here.

Or maybe one of these 7.4V 10C 2700mAh batteries???

Hang on, what's this 10C 25C stuff all about?
        Oh, it's about this.
So the first lot can be discharged at 45A, but the last one only at 27A.
I don't know if i'm on a yellow brick road, or if the connectors will match…

        Here's some twit sticking in a 3-cell 11.1V battery.

        • Done, sorted, thank you. I'm sure my next buy will be spare parts

  • dr_rusko no I haven't buddy but I always recommend for people starting off is the syma x5c.They obviously have changed the models a bit since the x5c but it very easy to fly and very stable. My 9 year old grandson got the hang pretty quick just buy more batterys you will need them.It is easy to do a range hack on them also,if you extend the wire on the transmitter to 125 mm off the board it doubles the distance you can fly good luck.

  • Been watching some of the MJX Bugs 3 reviews on Youtube.
    Thing goes like a rocket.

I'm pretty sure i'll get one of those, and delay getting any camera or FPV gear until i've got the hang of it…

  • bennybaubles dont worry to much about the original batterys mate, just buy some xt30 to xt60 adapters that way you can run any 2s or 3s batterys with a xt60 connection,I payed about 5 dollars for ten of them. You will love the bugs best bang for buck by far enjoy I'm sure you will.

    • Thanks I'll do that. Looking forward to taking it for a burl

  • New rules on flying drones:
    https://www.casa.gov.au/modelaircraft

I've got a park near me, but they ban model aircraft outright including drones.
    Kind of disrupts my rhythm…
