Men Underwear - What Do You Wear?

Hello gentlemen of OzBargain. Just wondering what brand of underwear do you wear and how much do you pay for them?

The 40-50% Bonds sales won't do anymore because the products, whether briefs or trunks, don't last very long. The elastic stretches after only a few washes.

Right now I'm using cheap, generic underwear but they're not very comfortable, though they have survived more washes than any Bonds. Looking for something with more comfort and longevity - briefs or trunks no matter, I like to rotate. Please recommend me some brands, thanks.

Edit1:
A few Kmart and Aldi suggestions with attractive pricing. Shall try. A couple Uniqlo Airism suggestions, will also try.

Edit2:
Overwhelming response, thanks guys. Heaps of solid suggestions.
These look promising, thanks 2jzzzz.
The most popular seems to be Uniqlo Airism and CK underwear.

Uniqlo Airism - not too expensive, nice material and long lasting.

    • Will head into Uniqlo to check it out. Thanks!

      • Why? Nothing of course…

      http://www.uniqlo.com/au/store/airism-boxer-briefs-162859001…

hard to believe polyester would feel good

      • It is.

I've thrown out some random onces for this reason….then i randomly tried the airism and theyre totally different somehoow

      • +1

That camel toe look in men's boxers freaks me out! It does not look right.

    • +3

Do you instantly play tennis like Novak Djokovic when wearing these?

    • I have 7 pairs, great for travelling as I travel winh carry on back pack only :)

  • +10

Trunks from Kmart..cause i am cheap.

    • +4

I got some "Champions" from Costco a while ago… they're still holding the jewels nicely.
Elastic is not overpowered, but stands the test of time.
Women think it looks nice, not like Uncle Tony's gross white budgie smugs.
And I think I got them in a pack of 3 for $10.
Not sure if they're a regular item…. haven't been to Costco's in ages, because everything else is a ripoff.

      • +1

Can confirm regular item; ~$16 for the 3-pack.

        • Cheers!
(couldn't even remember the proper prices)
See, like I said its been ages… and them python grapplers are standing the test of time!!

        • +1

          @Kangal: erm…keep it up!?

      • +2

Women think it looks nice, not like Uncle Tony's gross white budgie smugs.

The plural is a little worrying there… hope you're not out, uh, "polling the electorate"…

        • Both my mum and my sister have shown approval ;)

    • +1

Me too bro. Why spend $30 PER UNDERWEAR. They're going on your butt for godssakes, why spend a lot of money? These undies look decent, they're good quality. What else do you need??

      • +2

What if you are dating a pretty girl? Spending $30 could be considered an investment.

You've got to keep your jelly safely in its kingdom.

        • +3

I'm married to the pretty girl so I don't have to try anymore haha

Seriously tho, these undies are good quality And look good and are cheap. What isn't to love?? And they aren't pretentious like CK undies

        • +1

          @jellykingdom:
          Agreed.

Last time I tried a thin undie, it felt like the arctic wind on my monkeys.

        • +1

          @Kangal:

Some people like the Arctic Monkeys…

      • Agree, kmart is good stuff. Lasts me a year or may be longer. I buy a new set and chuck out my old undies and vests every year regardless of what condition it is in… So low costs works out well for me.

      • +1

Frankly, space for my junk. I assume most guys don't need it by the way 99% of underwear as shaped but some of us need a lot more.

    • +11

Alpha brand from Kmart is pretty decent

      • Yup, this.

I stocked up when they were 3 for $15 back around Christmas, they're as good as any of the more expensive brands I've tried.

      • +1

Yep - this is all I buy now. I was expecting them to be crap, but was surprised at how well they last vs. price

      • Yes, bought a couple of pairs and was pleasantly surprised. I can't remember the price now but yeah around $5 can't go too wrong and they look like new after ~10 washes.

Geez OzB is a strange place.

        • @decr, you'll get at least 50 washes out of them - they are superb!

      • +1

Second this! Although I look the loose-ish ones, not the really tight ones.

      • Yup. Bought these when I was away for a week and forgot to pack enough undies. I thought they'd be crap and that I'd be chucking them out after.

They have actually outlasted everything I've bought in the last 3 years and are super comfortable. Elastic still as new.

    • +1

Free ball… cause I am cheap.

  • +1

Kmart clearance bin. About $0.50 a pair?

  • +12

Kmart Alpha brand is good quality considering the price ($5 or less a pair). Go for the seamless variety with elastane - comfortable and seem to last quite a while.

    • +2

The elastic goes after a year

      • +1

I mean considering the intimate nature of your underwear, do you really want to keep them for over a year?

        • +4

          Not everyone gets intimacy ;-)

        • @syousef: Always carrying a loaded gun, might be even more reason to change it more frequently.

  • +10

    underwear? whats that?

    • +4

it stops it getting caught in the zipper…..

that's my only reason for wearing them, only with jeans

      • +1

        My preeccciiious!

      • +2

        zipper? what's that?

I only wear trackies from Sportsdirect..

    • +15

      free willy…the movie

    • Saggy Balzac

  • +4

The bonds with cotton also around the waist, not just elastic waist are much better quality.

    • +1

Second this. Bonds hipster trunks, very comfortable, lasts for years

  • +1

I find the bonds briefs with the 40mm elasticated tops with the large lettering last very well. Get them when one of the supermarkets have them at half price or less.

    • These are the ones I normally get. Maybe I'm doing the washinf wrong.

      • +2

Do you dry them in the sun, maybe that is causing premature degradation?

        • I do dry them in the sun, yes…hmm

      • +2

Perhaps you're wearing them on the outside.

      • Yeah you're doing itbwrong, hand them to the wife.

  • The Aldi ones purchased about a year ago seem to be standing up well. About a couple of dollars each from memory.

    • Lasting a year sounds good! I'll need to drop by Aldi.

    • +2

      Bamboo ones were fine enough

      • The Bamboo viscoe ones from aldi are top quality!

    • I bought undies from Aldi a year or so ago - they smelt really strongly of petrol/some petroleum derivative. What's up with that?

      • +5

        Leaded or unleaded?

        • Leaded was so 1990's

        • +2

@cloudy: I think some of my undies are from the 90's.

        • It didn't need either type, there would soon be enough methane in them to keep them fuelled up!

        • @Captain Kremmen:

I bet they weren't from Aldi

        • @cloudy: Not sure. The tags are long gone. Vaguely remember they had the days of the week on them. Saturday undies reserved for that special someone.

  • Highly recommend quality and sexy shape
    HEY Franky

    google it.
    Love them

    • +1

Lol these are interesting. Not sure if they're to my taste though.

  • +1

I'm male, size 30 waist. I wear boxer briefs or trunks.

I would pay 0.01 to max 20 dollars. 20 dollars for a nice pair.

  • +6

    I've come across these http://www.kmart.com.au/product/coolmax-long-textured-trunks…

I'm in an active job with sweat and these are great for what I wanted. Lasted well so far.

    • Thanks, price is good enough for me to buy one and try.

    • I'll second that, these are great for work and also when playing golf or bike riding.

    • For $8, they are an excellent set of trunks. Highly recommend them

    • This would be your best bet. I used to have the champion, Adidas and CK briefs from Costco. These $8 jocks are the only ones I use now. Very comfy and good quality. Also good price.

      • I came here just to recommend this very item only to find that others have done the same thing. Good product, good price. 5/5 from me

  • The Aldi Westbay underpants in the European trunk style are good quality, quick drying and they last well, about $5 when available. Comfort and lifespan in undies is more important than simply the price.

  • +1

    Uniqlo Airism

  • Lowes jocks free thanks to vouchers from Unity1

  • +2

Hanes 100% cotton briefs or boxers last for years.

  • Bonds OzBargain special, 15 pairs for ~$125.

  • $3.31 delivered. Feel pretty good.

      • +5

No comment. Also random description: "sexy lingerie men:big mens thongs penis".

    • Looks like you get a free pair of socks, too!

  • Davenport, nice. They are expensive, but I get them for smas. My mum still likes to buy me them, bless her

    • I used to buy the boxers from Myers when they were on clearance for $5 during end of season sales. They don't seem to mark them down that low anymore.

  • +2

Alpha black briefs from Kmart. $5 for a pack of 5. Unbeatable.

  • +1

Under armor. Although expensive they are amazing.

    • Do you get them online? I only see them at rebels after a quick google.

      • Yeah amazon, East bay, under armor USA or australia site. Need to use freight forwarder for usa site. Just depends on how many you're ordering to which is the best price. More styles and patterns on USA site and Amazon though

  • No one here wears CK or HK? Love the feel of the materials.

    • +2

Forgive my ignorance. I know CK is calvin klein but what is HK?

      • +33

      • +11

        Hello Kitty

      • Halfprice Klein

      • Hein Kampf

    • I bought some CK micro modal trunks a few years ago. One of them ripped recently but the others still going strong. They are quite thin and super comfy but I'm not sure if I really notice the difference over the kmart ones I also wear.

  • CK. I was actually searching where I could get more but it's hard to get them at good prices. They seem to outlast most others

    • I usually wait until DJ has the extra discount and sometimes this applies to already discounted CKs.

    • I get my CK from Costco. Much cheaper than the CK store in Birkenhead even if they are on sale.
