With Xbox's announcement of an $11 monthly subscription service that gives subscribers access to over 100 games (Across both Xbox 360 and Xbox One catalogues), I think the Xbox One is looking like better value an PS4.

My understanding is that this subscription doesn't need Xbox Live Gold, unless the game is online multiplayer.

Seems great. I wonder if the $11 monthly gaming subscription can be used for multiple xbox consoles in the same household/account?

      • +1

Yup, it works just like xbox live gold sharing. :)

    • It depends on what you want to play I guess.
PS4 got the games that I want at the moment - Yakuza 0, Horizon, Nioh and the upcoming Persona 5.
So they are offering me a better value.

Unless what you are saying is that Microsoft offers better subscription value than Sony, which I totally agree ("PS Now" sucks).

I'm pretty happy with the current "Games with Gold" offering.
I would be reluctant to pay a further $10+/month.

      • +1

Yep - Subscription value and the continuous development of backwards compatible XBOX360 games is pretty good I think. I think MS has been struggling on sales for a while and are now just trying to throw everything at customers to see what sticks.

I think in 6-12 months they'll target two segments. For the casual market, they will sell the vanilla 500GB Xbox One S selling at a flat $249 with a year of their subscription service. For the "pro/hobbyist gamer" segment, they'll really try to push Project Scorpio as the one stop entertainment shop. Maybe vanilla will ship for $599.

I like that Microsoft listen to their customers and it has come A LONG WAY since the E3 debacle that made everyone thing they needed to always be online. Every time I log into my XB1, things are happening. On the PS4, I just don't feel excited. Their store is also a joke.

      • +1

Yeah the biggest selling point for me is exclusives. I personally prefer the Microsoft ones but I do miss the other half of destiny I had on my PS4.

    • +3

This unit $310 + XBox Gold $60 + XBox Subscription $132 + 2nd Controller $95 = $597. Not bad for probably a great years worth of entertainment… assuming you have a decent Internet connection, TV, electricity, a friend.

      Then get Scorpio!

      • +9

Was all good till you said friend :(

        • hahaha

      • Just wonder if if is possible to use this console overseas ?

    • That's awesome. I didn't hear about that.

    • Shit, that's great value. And I was stoked on EA Access already.

Man, (profanity) PS+, how the mighty have fallen.

Grab that 11 bucks a month thing, and then pray to Shigeru Miamoto that Switch gets the multiplats so I can play the odd online thing I actually like (literally just some Mario Kart and a match of CoD here and there) there.

    Terrific value here

  • +3

Wow. Paid over $400 and only one game :-(

  • Nice!

Need to decide between this and the bigw offer!

Games interested in are battlefield and Halo wars 2 but would flog the rest.

    • Just went into QV Big W, of the Halo Bundle they only had 1 of the two token left. So have lost one of a pair, and no others left. About 5-6 of the FiFa tokens.

      • "Lost"

      • It's online only anyway. The store deal is worse.

The Gamesmen are really great guys, this bundle is a ripper of a deal

    • can confirm this. bought my PS VR from them im very happy with the service.

      • -1

anyway i decided to buy this too :(

        there goes my money

anyone want an original xbox for 250? lol

  • To install all the games in the deal do i need to upgrade the hdd?

    • Double check the space requirements online…

Anyhow you can download them at any time instead of having them installed all at once. You can also hook up an external hdd.

    • +2

Alan Wake was about 7gb to install
Battlefield 1 took up around 55-60 post patch IIRC, but that was a couple months back
I didn't install Mighty No. 9 but when I rented it from the library I recall a figure around 5gb written on the box.
I have Battleborn on PS4 and will post how much that takes up when I get home as they might be similar.

      Hope that helps :)

      • Battleborn PS4 says 16gb on the box minimum, allow for probably at least another 10gb or so of patches though.

  • my friend selling his Xbox one 500gb with Kinect and 9 games (some of them old games) for $200.
is this better value or I should go with the one in OP?

    • Are they good games? do you have a 4k tv or 4k play bluray player?

if they are good games then buy it off your mate

then wait for xbox scorpio :)

      • yes, they are good games, including GTA V and Battlefield 1 (all of them actual games no digital downloads.
No, I don't have 4K TV and I don't think I will buy one soon.
I just checked the value of the games are included, it looks like I am only paying around $100 for the xbox. So I think I will buy it from him.

        cheers for the help

      • I just bought it from my friend. Here are the games,
        https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/81226/46945/20170301_2…
I hope I get a good deal here. Most likely I will sell some of them.

        • no probs

          good deal mate.

a friend of mine asked "how do you record gameplay on your xbox one? i said " just yell at the xbox to record it…" i have a kinect… he does not.

    • Wouldve gone with the s

  • already got the console but really want those games…each of those is about $20-$50 in ebgames sigh

  • Alan Wake? Has there been a remake or something?

    • No, just via backeard compatibility. Still an awsome game.

      • I played it. It was just so frustrating that he couldn't exactly run. It was either walking or jogging.

Oh no, Alan! There are shadow enemies behind you! <slowly walks away>

Oh no! They're all around you! <jogs towards the light>

  • Wow… i think everywhere is on sale for $289 (JB HiFi) or $299 (MS Store)…. is it??
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/platforms/xboxone/?…

    • +1

I must admit I have been monitoring all day wondering which offer….
I see that EBay games have upped their offers too with a blue console on sale for $299
      https://ebgames.com.au/featured/console-hardware/xbox-one

      • Blue consoles are in store only, in Victoria I think it's only "country" stores have it! So hopefully others have better luck than me… in saying that I'm crazy and I'm going to drive from Melbourne to Ballarat tomorrow to pick it up.

  • Are the bundled games any good?

  • +2

My opinion on the software included. Just cause its 5 games, doesnt mean much if you dont enjoy them.

Battlefield. I loved it, multiplayer community is active.

Quantum Break was amazing. Not a lot of replayability and its short, but its unique and well worth a play through.

Alan Wake, as great as it is, its a 360 title. I loved it, but its begining to show its age.

Mighty No 9 is a complete trainwreck, especially considering its pedigree.

Battleborn..meh. Its going to be be free to play, its just a matter of time. Numbers are dwindling form low to pathetically low and most of the crowd that want this sort of game are playing Overwatch from Blizzard.

Overall for 300 odd bucks you cant go wrong.

    • Some great advice there!
How do you see this compared to the bigw bundle of games? any idea what provides best re-sale value?
