But it says 'Delivering superior video quality' so it MUST be good.
Man, my 5 yr old phone can capture more pixies than this.

On a related note are there any webcams with a higher res? Every point and shoot digital camera can do 10-12MP nowadays and phones come with 2-5MP standard. Whats the deal with these not going up?

      • and you want to send a how many streaming meg of video?

really depends on your connection then doesnt it not everyone has 10mb at home

You can get 720p HD video from better webcams from Logitech, Microsoft and others. Keep in mind the resolution reported between video and stillshots can be different - Usually the highest resolution quoted is for a stillshot.

        • that makes sense now, thanks

      • You can't compare still image pixels to video pixels.
        A 10MP still image camera can't take 10MP video.

      • Resolution is overrated. The megapixel myth/wars are simply a way to make people think their cameras are better. One day when everybody's internet connections + backbones are fast enough, streaming high-quality 2MP will be possible for everyone.

That said, I'd much rather have lower resolution with a higher framerate, fewer compression artifacts, and lower latency, than have a poorer high-resolution stream much like how an 8MP phone camera takes worse pictures than a proper 5MP camera.

A full-resolution DVD (and standard def TV) is only 0.35 - 0.4MP - 720x480 for NTSC and 720x576 for PAL - pretty close to 640x480 (0.3MP). Full HD Bluray is 1920x1080 which is only 2MP.

just went to officeworks and got it price matched. down to $17.10 :D

  • price match at officeworks, beat another 5%, arh, sweet sweet deal!

  • anyone knows if it's clip can accommodate to a desktop monitor?? thanks,

    • +1

i was wondering the same thing so i googled around and if i remember right, it only clips on to screens that are 4mm - 1.5mm thick, so it wouldn't fit on a desktop monitor.

What I did with my last laptop webcam was to blutac an AA battery to my monitor and hang it off that. Looks weird but it worked.

      • blutac an AA battery -that's smart.

        • oops, what i meant was 4mm - 15mm thick, obviously. :)

      • I bluetac it directly on my desktop monitor, works great, but look less attractive
Note: the usb cable is real short, I bluetac another one on my speaker. better get a usb extention

        • fortunately my monitor has a usb hub built in!
