Hi Everyone,
First time poster.
Selected Travel Dates.
I was looking at buying flights from Melbourne to Hobart and have found some pretty good deals with Jetstar. Some aren't as cheap as last weeks Jetstar deal however some are better.
Melbourne to Hobart at only $29 eachway sounds good to me!
Plenty of other cheap flights in there too!
Adelaide to Melbourne from $35
Melbourne to Sydney from $35
Melbourne To Goldcoast from $49
Cheers

  • Anyone else getting an Internal Server Error after selecting the dates and searching times?

    • Worked fine for me

      • Thanks, got it working on mobile site.

  • Might the poster be able to postfix Melbourne with "(AVV)" or "(Avalon)"?

You had me sweating I'd overpaid for my Sydney fare when I brought one yesterday!

Can you please add the travel dates to the description?

bc looking at a brown river is amazing

  • Flights to/from Melbourne (Avalon) anyone has any experience there regarding Cancellations, delays etc …. Is there a shuttle or even local public bus between Avalon and Tullamarine?

    • There's the Skybus for around $20.

      • +1

The Skybus operates between Melbourne city and Tullamarine only. From Avalon there is a Sita coach service which meets every flight and travels to Melbourne City for a bit over $20 each way and takes abt 50 mins. I believe there's also one from there to Geelong.
I and family have flown out of Avalon many times and there have rarely been any delays. It's a very good efficient service in my experience. There's also 40 mins free parking t the terminal and reasonable long-term parking rates. I love the country airport feel of it.

Looks like Tigerair are also doing sales to compete

Tickets I bought from Tiger were a bit cheaper than the jetstar equivalent $69 vs $65.

    • +1

… you didn't attempt to price match?

  • +2

    Careful of those added extras!

  • Thanks, unsurprisingly no good however for the June long weekend even though the dates fall in range.

I've got tickets to Brazil v Argentina at the MCG and it's going to be like $500-$600 return for the weekend, but if I was willing to take a few days extra off work I could get it for $78 return… Gah.

well I assume you were counting on taking off Fri?
you can get down Thursday evening get Jetstar to 10% price beat
      (Jetstar thurs 6:20pm would be $161 down = $179 tiger - 10%)
Fri Tiger has lots of $259 = $233 jetstar.

coming back Sat tiger has heaps of $159 flights ($143 Jetstar).

      that $300-400 rtn + accom.

      • Yep, thanks - was going to take Fri off. Would prefer not to come back Sat as I'd like to make a weekend of it, but will look into it. Cheers.

Thanks, but no good for me. Adding in luggage for our family holiday in 2nd half of April ended up more expensive through this deal than going through virgin and using the 10% off promo code ($822 jetstar vs $815 virgin). Also Virgin lands at Tullamarine rather than Avalon. Although on the dates we can go (restricted due to work), the Jetstar price wasn't the starting price, it was $120 to and $75 back per person excluding luggage.

    • would you mind sharing the virgin 10% promo code?

      • +1

Sure, it's CLX79 it only works on domestic flights though.

    • Are Jetstar still screwing people for luggage?
I had a flight last month where 25kg of luggage was "on sale" for $30, 15Kg has gone up to $35, 20kg to $40. yep 15kg is no longer $17.50. And they were weighing everyone's hand luggage.

      • 20kg to $40

        ?

i just booked using jetstar's price beat and got 40kg for $40

        • yeah the pricing was weird (it was a price beat conversation). I asked for 15kg & was told it was $35, and that 25kg for $30 was better value. maybe they've gone back to normal.

Anyone got any bargains for Sydney to Melbourne later this month? Or really early April for a weekend?

  • Anyone used Avalon? Longer drive but seems parking right out front.

Any reason you use it over Tulla?

    • Avalon is just a drag - i don't bother anymore, especially now that i can usually get a cheap flight with JetStar while exploiting Tiger for a price beat. Without a car you're up for $$ for the bus anyway - it takes forever - and if you're that tight you're probably better off using Tullamarine anyway and just catching the 901 public bus to Broadmeadows train station.

If you have a car, and want to park at the airport, the equation might differ.

      Gee i'm useful.

      • I caught the 901 bus to Maccas on Mickleham Dr, then Uber (since that's outside the Tulla Uber Black banishment zone. was about $40 cheaper then an actual taxi, including a quick feed.

If you live in Werribee or Geelong, then yeah why not?

      • We live on the Mornington Peninsula. Tullamarine is 1 1/2 hrs by car and Avalon is close to 2hrs. I use Avalon by preference since it's very direct to get to, less traffic, cheaper parking (free if you keep it under 40 mins and you can also get abt 15 mins more if you punch your parking ticket just before the 40 min deadline), cheaper flights, and I love the country airport feel to it. I use it whenever I can. Only drawback in my opinion is the limited number of destinations.

SYD to MEL $59 7am only in May, not a deal

    • Yeah but almost everything else is!

  • +2

    Melbourne(Avalon)

    More like Geelong (Avalon)

    • I'd say Lara (Avalon)

Werribee is closer to AVV than some parts of Geelong.

      • -1

Werribee is considered as a part of Greater Melbourne (or Melbourne Metropolitan Area) and Geelong is a city of its own so I think it would be fair to call Avalon as an airport of Geelong rather than an airport of Werribee.

  • Just booked return trip to Perth in October - got them to price beat Tiger by 10% as well. :)
