        yes but there is a min amount. So the 500 isn't much use unless you have plans to move points from Velocity

    Is arguably the best star alliance membership to have if you live in australia, not a bad deal even if it's only $5 worth

    Could be useful if, like me, you signed up to get 5k points last time, transferred them to Velocity and now your account has expired so you need to re-join.

    hmm is Garuda on Krisflyer

    I've flown Garuda a few times and will again in future, doesnt hurt to have an account if I get some benefit from it

      Garuda is part of the SkyTeam Alliance. Singapore Airlines is StarAlliance.

      There are no SkyTeam carriers that have Australia or New Zealand as a home base. There is only OneWorld (Qantas) or StarAlliance (Air New Zealand). Virgin and Jetstar are not a member of any alliances.
