  • Oh yeah, I forgot to ask. Is it fan-less? If it is, I would consider selling my 10 inch tablet and using the laptop instead.

    • Down vote?!

    • 99% sure it is.

    • It's fanless :)

  • how is its battery life? >5 hours for light web surfing?

I got this from the last sale for uni. I don't require any special software or anything. So far so good!, keyboard is nice to type on and the trackpad is nice. It doesn't have a battery light indicator which is annoying. I got it in the white and it looks pretty alright. Seems solid for the price. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a cheap laptop without needing it for anything demanding. Also if you're a student don't forget that you can get Office 365 for free!

dude thanks for the reminder about the student office 365. I bought this from the last deal for uni and its great for its size and price!

    • All students of NSW public/high schools get free MS office licenses, for Windows and MacOS.

  • I got one from the last sale also. Returned it though. The screen quality is just not very good. Poor viewing angles, washed out colours etc. I may be spoiled though, as all my other screens are IPS and at least Full HD, so YMMW.

What do you expected for $300 ….

    • +5

Breaking news : $300 laptop's screen isn't as nice as a more expensive laptop screen. In other news, the sky is blue, and the grass is green.

Accept it for what it is - the best deal going at the moment for a cheap 11" laptop with low end but quite usable spec for 99% of people. Thank you OP.

      • You could even stretch that and say not many laptops below $400 to even $500 have much better screens than this. Very usable and good spec for price.

  • +4

You do get so much for $319. None of the retail stores or online stores even with Cyber code can beat it for specs v price.

  • after a terrible experience with my previous dell inspiron 2 in 1, wouldn't buy another inspiron nor would recommend it to anyone.

    • What was wrong with it?

      • after an overseas trip had trouble turning on the machine. keys stopped working randomly, dell technician couldn't fix it then sent it for repair said they changed the MB but still problem was there. Finally somehow got a refund which i was so happy about!

  • Can someone tell me what is ssd ?? 128 gb is not enough

    • +2

SSD - Solid State Drive. It is significantly faster than HDD in booting up the system and faster in writing and reading large files. 128GB is fine and depend on what you want to do with it. If you want to pay the latest online MS Office subscription yearly, 128GB would be fine. My preference is to install the Office 10 in my laptop. Maybe a few "movies" on the road. (can I call it Ozbargainer principle?) But this is only my POV.

      • oh ok thanks, It will be for videos, games and movies…. Is ssd available in 1tb?

        • Yes, but could pay more for that alone. Go with an external hhd>

  • Thanks ! Bought one for the 13 yo for school.

  • Does it have enough space to install MS Office PRO ? I do not like Office 365 and pay annual subscription. What lightweight (Free) applications can I use that is compatible with MS WOrd and MS Excel ?

    • Yes.try docs and sheets on google

      • +1

Agree. There should be enough space to install MS office PRO but you might left about 64 GB left on your HDD. Maybe you can insert a 200 GB SD card to increase the storage capacity. Not sure about the maximum SD card storage it can hold. Keep in mind that your 128 GB SSD will also require for the operating system WIN 10 and other 3rd party software as well. It is the same reason why I ask if I can replace the SSD card with 1 TB HDD previously.

  • Does anyone know if this one supports MIRACAST / WIFI display onto TV??
Trying to find a laptop that does this, but none of the specs mentions this item. Anyone have this computer can share?

    • All laptops can cast to Chromecast
      Or use HDMI.

  • This model does not include a touchscreen, is that right?
JB Hi Fi has a "2 in 1" Dell Inspiron 11 3000 (lower specced) for $349 but it has touchscreen. I'm not too sure if they all include it as standard.

    • That's correct, no touchscreen on this model.

From previous comments, eg here you should avoid that low spec JB Hi-Fi model, mainly the 32GB eMMC storage makes it very sluggish over the SSD.

  • For those who complain about its screen: it does have HDMI
For those who complain about its speed: it can run Linux

  • Great little laptop had mine a couple weeks. Antivirus is running out what good life free one to use???

    • +1

      Bitdefender free is pretty good.

  • Just received mine today and playing around for the last 15 minutes. Cheers op, great buy.

The trackpad is pretty bad, and the cursor jams frequently. But other than that this perfect and exactly what I wanted for the price. Sleek form factor too :)

  • Can the memory be upgrade to 8G ? Is it easy to do it ? Anyone know a video to show how to upgrade ?

  • Did anyone buy one but no longer wants it? I'd love to buy it you!

  • Does anyone know/think this deal will come back? Want to buy another.

    • +1

Hard to say, there was a recent eBay tech sale but Dell weren't included this time. You would imagine something would come up in the future in one way or the other but can't say for sure.

If you didn't want to wait you could use code C5AUS to get it for $379.05 now

      • There seemed to be deals twice per month since January but nothing so far this month. I'm not in a rush for it, so I'll wait and hopefully something will come up. Thanks.

It' back, starts in just over an hour: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/304846

      • Yay!, Thank you so much!!!

  • Mine wobbles even when on a flat surface with it's screen open. Getting a technician over to fix it. Support was helpful. I hope it can be fixed though. It's driving me nuts.
