Nintendo Switch Console - Grey $382.35 Delivered @ Dick Smith / Kogan eBay

1490
CYBER

I believe this is a pretty good price for the Nintendo Switch. Edit: Posted from Melbourne (according to eBay page and pointed out by hollykryten) but still unsure about receipt. If you're not travelling overseas then this should be a good way to pick one up for cheap.

Using https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/295144 as a reference for price since I really don't know much about the switch.

Don't forget to use your cashrewards for the extra bonus cashback!

Cheers

AU $495.20 vs $382.35. The difference is $112.85. You have overpaid by 30ish which you could get the game at $79.

      • +3

Except it's out of stock so you can't get it at that price anymore

        • +1

for me, and i know a lot of people would think the same, this has set the bar now for what i'd pay. i'd now rather wait until this restocks or there's a better deal

        • @stevejobzzz: The catch is that ebay are footing the extra 20% so the party only lasts as long as they do.

        • which makes me hope even more DS/Kogan will restock before the party is over. It's in their interest to if ebay's footing the bill

        • @stevejobzzz:

Really don't know because of short of stock worldwide.

        • @superforever: It sold 1.5 million worldwide, shipped 2 million. There should be stock somewhere out there.

        • @lostn:

How many of them are English version? How many sold in Japan?

        • @superforever: 330k in Japan. Rest are english .

  • Thinking of getting a 2nd switch to play mario kart on 2 devices. Anyone know if this is possible on the go i.e. Without a wifi connection?

    • +3

i think you can do local multiplayer without wifi upto 8 switches but you would need the game per console i believe - dunno if there is the sharing like the DS carts

  • -4

Stock has been update, no longer sold out.

    • +1

      What are you talking about?

      Still 0 available 69 sold

      • Sorry, I'm an idiot. Would neg myself if I could.

    • No.. i dont see it.

  • +2

only 69 switches. giggity.. i mean darn i missed out.

  • +1

    Crazy bargain!!

  • -3

no one waiting for second batch?? After all those problems?

    • +3

you mean the over dramatised "problems" on youtube that at the end of the day are just after clicks? honestly i havnt had a single drop of connection on the left (or right) joycon, nor a scratch from the dock and its been in and out of it every day since i had it at launch.

      • +4

Yea, it's the standard very vocal few that have had issues. People generally don't make much noise if they are happy.

        • +2

Yep thats it - and now anywhere you read something about the switch its always about these rare case problems from a few select reviewers! test it for yourself and if yours is broken take it back! People make it sound like nintendo has never made a console before they have a better track record then any company when it comes to quality in my opinion.

      • +3

That's the problem these days, thousands of bloggers, YouTubers and low-effort journalists looking to make a living out of sensationalising reported issues. Read Twitter, copy-paste, write a clickbait headline and wait for the fractions of a cent to roll in.

      • i guess i am super lucky, my roommate and 2 friend over another country having the exactly same issue.

        error during game, scratches.

also not be able to apply stickers.

i know ppl not gonna like those bad facts about the stuffs theyve purchased, i wish nintendo solve those problem asap tbh.

  • +1

Can i further reduce the cost by claiming trs?

  • +2

damn missed it, if this thing was $380 i'd pull the trigger in a second..

  • +5

That's right people, so many problems with the Switch right now, don't buy it please*.

*Hopefully that will do the trick so I can get this deal when it comes back!

  • I made it for this one. Literally was walking in to buy but moonwalled out of ebgames hahaha

  • Whats the likelihood of a restock, based on past experience with these deals?

    • +1

      high, check back tomorrow morning.

      • Awesome, thanks!

      • Not yet… 0 available / 69 sold as 10am today

      • +2

I checked so many times… YOU PROMISED JAIMEX2

JK's. The cyber deal ends 22nd so let's hope they come good before then

        • +2

          I know! I'm sorry! :(

In the past they have re-validated their stock and a few more have popped up.

  • +2

Whoever bought this, you done well :)

  • +1

I was tempted but I bought the Wii U version of Zelda and couldn't justify getting it as there are no other games worth playing atm.

    • -3

      I did the same.

The most I'll pay for a Switch is $300, and if it never drops to that price, I'll never own one.

I got Zelda for Wii U.

      • +1

The salt is real. Sorry for not wanting to pay more than $300 guys.

      • Genuinely curious.. The launch price on a Wii U was what? $350 for a basic and $430 for a premium? EB Games is still selling the premium for $430 (with 4 games). Why did you find value in purchasing a Wii U, but believe the next generation and more versatile console should be less than $300?

        • +1

I paid $170 for my Wii U when Kmart discounted them as only then did I think it was fairly priced.

        • Like jaimex2, I got it for $170 with the Skylanders bundle at a clearance price.

There is no way I would have paid $350 for it, much less $430.

Nintendo never officially cut the price because, frankly, Nintendo is a tone deaf company.

Why did you find value in purchasing a Wii U, but believe the next generation and more versatile console should be less than $300?

Each person perceives value differently. I am simply comparing the price of Switch to what else I can buy for around that price or less. It doesn't come close to PS4 or XB1 in processing power, and those can be frequently found for much less than the Switch, bundled with a few games. The competing products set a benchmark price that I'm willing to pay. Since the Switch is weaker than a PS4, I won't buy it unless it's less than a PS4 in price. $300 is actually pushing it.

Let's be real, this thing struggles to do 720p at 30 fps on a launch title of a game made for a last gen console (comparable to PS3/360 in spec). The game has stylized graphics to mask the lack of cutting edgeness. If it's already struggling with a game made for the Wii U, how is it going to handle games further down the road? Especially from devs other than Nintendo, who may want a realistic look? You're just not going to get those games. Almost all of your games are going to be cartoony. The looks don't matter that much to me, but not getting the game at all because the devs don't find the Switch powerful enough to handle the game is a big deal.

The portability factor does nothing for me. I only intend to play on the TV.

On the portable side, for $469 it would be competing against iPad Minis for my money, and again I'd rather have an iPad Mini. You get a robust app store with a lot more things to play and do on it, as well as a better screen with more battery life. You can easily get a 32GB iPad Mini 2 for much cheaper than $469.

Right now, the Switch has nothing to play except Zelda which is accessible on Wii U if you have one. If you don't, then it's a $500+ Zelda machine because what else are you going to play on it until the end of the year?

All the people who bought it and fell in love with it and Zelda, I'm just curious what they're going to do with it after they complete Zelda.

        • @lostn:

Fair points. As to your last question though Mario kart and Mario odessey would be two answers..

        • @ewanw: Mario Odyssey isn't due till holiday. I'm wondering what they're going to do between March and November/December.

Mario Kart is just a port of the Wii U version with some small extras added. Been there, done that.

For a Wii U owner, there is nothing worth owning the Switch for until end of this year. I'm sure as hell not playing 1-2 Switch, Arms, or Snipperclips.

        • @lostn:

I thought odessey was sooner. You're right as a Wii U owner it's much less attractive. As I didn't have one I'm more than happy to have a go at things like Mario Kart.

It occurred to me that I've always had every other Wii console (not counting handheld) so NES not SNES,N64 not GameCube and Wii not Wii U. Arguably the only one I'd say I regretted is the snes.

      • ps I didn't downvote you, just curious..

      • same. 400 for a handheld, just meh for me.

(DOCK mode? lol that is nice added bonous. there is no way i call 20FPS is playable. watch the reviews. where as in 720p mode its way better.)

  • +1

I bought the basic grey model from Costco and love it. Zelda is awesome and I've only searched two lands of the enormous world it provides. The paddles work great with the only annoying thing being the buttons under the joysticks which gets easily pressed when you're battling (not a good thing). Having the paddles remote means that you can separate them and have one side in each hand and even move them around the room to change the camera perspective. And when attached to the remote console they seem to share power with it when the paddles get low on energy. Recharging the whole thing only requires you to dock the console (with paddles attached). I've always wanted to buy the Wii U, but I'm glad I got the Switch.

  • +1

Grr, still no sign of a restock.

  • +5

There is no sign of delivery sent yet.

    • Yeah been checking since it was sold out

      • +1

I have good feelings about today. It's been enough business days to secure a restock.

Source of experience - some chap I met named Bernard

        • i'll send you a high five if thats the case? Fingers crossed

        • Hi, i am Bernard. I am still waiting for a notification.

        • +1

          @spedohero:
          KHANNNNNNNNN I mean… BernARRRRRRRD

  • +7

Any idea when this is supposed to ship out from Dick Smith's warehouses?

    • +2

I just called DS, app it will ship 5-10 business days after the order, so between the 23rd and 30th March. sigh soo slow.

At least they confirmed is shipping from Australia.

      • Why mine is shown as delivery between 31 Mar to 7 April…
        Incredible slow.

        • +1

It ships between 5-10 business days + 2-4 days for delivery… up to 14 days to ship a product is soo slow

        • +3

          @blackfalcon53:

          Grey Imported.

        • +1

@superforever: Yeah for sure grey imported… still slow as.

Because they have the stock in their warehouse in Melbourne they just have a 5-10 business day lag to ship it out.

        • @blackfalcon53: soooooooo slow

  • Thanks to everyone who played refresh Dick Smith 20 times an hour with me.

Now I have to accept the anchor bias and go back to paying ~$450-460…

  • Typical Kogan 🙄

Your item is now expected to be shipped from our warehouse on the 6th April 2017.

    • +2

This reminds me of the iPhone debacle years ago, Kogan accepted preorders they could not deliver.
It kept getting push to a point where everyone cancelled.

    • Same.Damn

  • +1

Just got an email from Kogan saying my shipment has been delayed till 7th April.

  • +2

Just got an email saying it won't ship until the 6th April now. I'm actually OK with that as it's more time to finish Horizon before I fall into the Zelda rabbithole, but I can see how a lot of people would be pissed.

  • +1

Yup same email here. ETA shipping on 6th of April. Figured as much.

  • Received this today

Thank you for your recent order.

After sending a couple of messages with the DickSmith ebay seller, they have also given me a $20 evoucher as a gesture of goodwill.

    • At least it means at max I'll be paying $67 for BOTW.

    • What did you tell them to get them to do that?

      • +2

I sent them a message on the 21st asking them why they hadn't shipped it yet (bought on 16th). They replied saying they'd look into it. Got another message today saying that the shipment had been delayed until the 6th of April and that in their words "As a gesture of goodwill for any inconvenience this delay may have caused, I have arranged for you to receive a $20 Dick Smith eVoucher". Got the voucher today and used it to get $20 off BOTW bringing it down to $70 inc postage ($9 cheaper than Target). All together the Switch and BOTW cost $452. Happy with that :)

        • Thanks for sharing – I got them to give me one too 😁

        • +1

@itsfree: No worries, glad it helped!

  • Just got notification that my Switch has been dispatched!

  • Yep, same

  • Same!

  • Same. Thanks again OP!!

  • +1

dispatch doesn't anything if they didn't dispatch it.
If you look at Auspost, it comes up Invalid tracking number (this is what mine says).

Also, i purchased another item which say processing on Auspost and dispatched on ebay.

  • Got same email saying Switch has been dispatched. Tracking number not active yet though.

  • +1

via ebay are you able to see postage details? That shows me that postage info has been received. I have never seen a tracking number look like that. I'll just track via the ebay app.

    • Neither have I. Very odd

  • My tracking number is borked too.. :(

  • +2

Mine shows up and can be tracked via auspost now. Try guys!

    • +2

Yep ditto. Aus Post have done stuff all with it though.. :/

    • Mine works now too. Cheers!

  • Mine was delivered today!!!

    • Same! Received mine 8:55 AM!

  • Puhleeeeese come today :(

    • +1

      It came! It came!

  • :( I'm still waiting :(

    • Same, I called DS and they said won't be shipped until 28th. I cancelled my order and just got one at JBhifi. Ridiculous.

      • Might have to do the same…
