      We are not American.

      • +33

you'd be surprised how many people i talk to think we are… it's alarming

        • +28

My first amendment rights guarantee i can think whatever I want, thank you very much.

      • -2

They will raise prices elsewhere to make up for the margin loss

        • +2

They make almost all their money from memberships.

      • Don't have to be America for their stupid tariffs to make shit more expensive. Market uncertainty alone can do that.

Sony has already upped the price of the PS5 and PSN in Australia and NZ

  • +4

    this is a deal?

    • +35

You can't have deal and Nintendo in the same sentence ever!

      • +8

Unless if its Deku Deals Dot Com. (੭。╹▿╹。)੭

      • +7

Nah, they've had SOME deals. But honestly, saving 10% is probably a deal given how tight Nintendo are with their pricing.

      • You just did. :)

    • +24

Sadly for Nintendo gear, this is about as good as it gets. Same with Apple products…..

It could be worse, we could be in America getting tariffed with no lube.

      • +1

Same reason I stopped buying Apple 15 years ago. Not missing much.

        • +1

Nah, Nintendo do offer good value, they're hands down the best games developer in the world.

          • -1

@Shermanpk: Yay for Mario kart! Woo.
Fk I hate that game with all my being

          • @Shermanpk: Yeah. Mario cart edition #437. Groundbreaking.

      • +6

tbf if you're in Nintendo and Apple's position, wouldn't you do the same? They have no problems selling product

The same can't be said for others who've attempted a fairly rigid fixed price policy, like Honda automotive in Australia

      • +1

I have a feeling this console is going to be different. It's very pricey going into a possible global recession (50/50). Nintendo chopped $50 off the Wii U retail price due to poor sales https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_U

        • +1

This will sell like hot cakes.

          • @Spendmore: EB (MK);and JB have not sold out since preorders went live.

            • +1

@Lucille Bluth: EB have pre sold out on the console only option. No way this is not going to sell well.

              • +1

@Spendmore: Yes as I said (MK). JB both editions still in stock. Kogan still in stock, HN, BIg W still in stock list goes on for both still available to preorder console only.

Yes will sell out probably, but as it stands they haven't after being available for preorder for few weeks now.

FWIW I have it on preorder via EB and noted it did not sell out of console only presell until a day or more after.

                • +1

@Lucille Bluth: Sorry I didnt notice the MK. I dont think these will entirely sell out but I do think they will sell well and will not be getting any wiiu type price reduction.

                  • +2

@Spendmore: I just bought it so I can have V1.01 of the firmware for when the homebrew community does it's magic 🪄

No doubt it will sell well like you said.

                    • +1

@Lucille Bluth: I wish I had the willpower not to update but day 1 the kids and I will be on mariokart and no doubt will need an update to play.

                • @Lucille Bluth: Can guarantee that a lot of those pre sales at eb are scalpers flogging them off on eBay US since they still don't have pre orders. No brainer as they can cancel their orders if they don't get a sale or don't fully sell out. Seems people in the US are to impatient to wait and pay for some idiot flogging it for $750 us instead.

      • There is actually now a 65% tariff on all lubricants.

    • +12

Simple fact it's down from 699 to 679.99 and 769 to 749.99. It doesn't mean you have to upvote it, but you should downvote it either.

    • Yeah cheaper than the rest so far.

    • +94

I agree with your sentiment, however in one of your recent post, you also posted RRP for a graphics card:

      • +10

It is a deal though, do some research before you post.

Better off buying at EB Games. 7% off gift card = $716.09 not $749.99.

    • +1

how to get 7% gift cards please?

      • Macquarie bank marketplace

      • Macquarie Bank Marketplace. Instant, and can do custom value gift cards.

    • how do you get the 7% off gift card?

    • Where is the 7% off gift cards from? Thanks.

    • Well it depends what gift card platforms you've got access to, if any. Member Advantage is actually the best at 8%, minus CC fee.
Best I've got access to is 5%, but yes, still works out slightly cheaper than this.

    • +2

I started paying mine off today with the 20x points gift cards from woolies. Hopefully will end up around the $700 mark.

    • Noob. Wait for 10% off from ultimate gift cards. They're on sale often at the supermarket

      • +1

When was the last one that was a straight 10% off, rather than a FlyBuys / Everyday Rewards points offer?
        Nevermind, found it; February.

    • But isn’t it sold out?

  • Decent reference point for a OW price beat, will have to try my luck

    • man if I worked at OW I'd be so relaxed about giving out price beats, as long as I wouldn't get in trouble. gotta let the people have bargains

      • +1

But that's the thing though.. that's exactly the thing.

    • And pay with gift cards you got for 10% off. My OW switch 2 preorder worked out to $626.40. With a Costco price beat it could have be $580.54!!!!

      • +3

Wishful thinking, good luck price beating on a preorder.

      • where did you get OW gift cards for 10% off??

        • it takes work but it can be done. Easiest way is the colesworth promos for Ultimate/TCN cards that can be used at OW.

          • @rpb: Sure, so nothing available NOW? Gotcha. Thanks

            • @JuryWheel: there’s one on at Woolworths currently

              • @rpb: Oh that’s a points one though

                • @rpb: Get the point and use it to buy mk world at big W.

                  • @Dienk: Good idea. I preordered from big w with the April discount code and discounted gift cards already though :)

                    • @rpb: how did you do this? what gift cards and what April discount code?

                      • @Rukiata: XAPR2025 Is the code it was a bit tricky to apply. You have to be logged out, put it in your cart. Go Check out. Login during checkout. Go back to cart and apply code. Then use discounted gift cards like ShopBack Westpac or StGeorge deals or use everyday reward dollars

                    • @rpb: Max is 500 bucks to use the code though, how did you use it

                      • @t0087669: We’re only talking about Mario Kart World Game for Big W. I got the console from OW. Both mentioned earier

    • +2

I tried to price match OW but they told me they didn’t price match preorders

    • Officeworks don’t price match preorders!!

  • +7

I find it really odd with all the comments saying Nintendo never has any discounts.

I literally have a Nintendo Switch OLED (Zelda TOTK edition) 2 years ago only because it was on sale.

I have bought so many new games (i.e. not preowned or digital) at a discount over the last 2 years - just search the Ozbargain history for the actual console and game bargains if you don't believe me.

Also, there are sales on the eshop all the time and you could even use Nintendo gold coins to get a further discount (not any more - Nintendo ended that recently).

Dunno if the comments are just to scare people into thinking they need to buy now at the ridiculous launch price because there's no point waiting for a discount or what?

    • I find it really odd with all the comments saying Nintendo never has any discounts.

      Who said that?

    • Got my wife the splatoon OLED edition from Big W eBay deal. Mega bargain!
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/732589
The Pokémon version went $9 cheaper later too
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/746343

      • The pokemon version is what I purchased so it's really hard mentally to pay DOUBLE for a switch 2. You could get 2 switches for that price!

      • Both the zelda and splatoon 'deals' were eBay discounts that happened to apply to the console. That isn't the same thing as a discount on the RRP.

    • Especially if there's extra stock that can't be sold in the US with tariffs.

There's no rush- by the time there are more exclusives worth playing there should be a discount somewhere.

      • Dreaming.

        • I mean I got a Switch for a massive chunk off RRP soon after release.

Like I said, no rush- plenty of great games on PC.

          • +1

@Merlict: Maybe. My comment was more so in response to the tariffs resulting in extra stock. People will pay crazy money for a GPU or even $1000 for a PS5 when there were stock shortages, a few percent wont deter anyone.

  • Pity you cant buy from Costco online and do a click and collect - no idea how long you will wait for the delivery to arrive after the 5th!

  • +3

Will wait for the oled version in 5 years.

    • +1

Yep. And if you are willing to wait, you might as well just buy Switch 1 OLED now. It is at the 5 years mark and price is low. All those great games on Switch 1 doesn't suddenly become crap just because 2 got released. Right?

  • Going to hold out for Switch 2 OLED.

    • Honestly I love my Switch OLED so much I can’t imagine going back. I’ve been weighing up replacing my PC monitor ever since - the colours are so washed out in comparison. If only I’d never known…

There would have to be a super, super compelling game for me to buy the switch 2 before an OLED release at this point. If that’s the case, I’ll probably just get one from marketplace and flip it after a few months.

      • Sounds like you'd love an LG C4 or C5 42" as a monitor. I'm betting the next big Zelda title would be released with the Switch 2 OLED.

  • -2

Buying a Steam Deck is much better value

    • +2

sadly i need to play Dk64 2 and zelda musou 3

      • -6

Download emulator…. you can still find them if you search hard enough

        • +4

I doubt you will be able to run a ns2 emulator on a steam deck, the ns2 i slightly more powerful for a start then the emulation process is not that efficient.

        • both games are still in development

    • Not if you want to play Duskbloods.

  • -2

It's very good competitive price compared to other consoles, more powerfull than PS4 pro and steam deck by comparison standards.

    • -1

more powerful than PS4 pro and steam deck? hope that's sarcasm ?

    • +1

I mean sure the performance is competitive to a PS4 pro, but that originally came out 8 years ago and currently can be bought for $270.

      • +2

Not hand held though at $270.

    • Nope it's about as powerful as ps4, not even ps4 pro. You don't watch Digital Foundry?
