        For the past three years…

        • +1

          Right around the corner really.

          /s

  • +1

    im upset.

    • +1

Did you get fired or something XD

      • +3

        nah i paid like 450

        • No guarantee this will arrive before xmas anyway.

  • Killer deal.

  • +2

I foresee some upvotes in your future

  • bought one. Amazing deal !!

  • +10

I dont even play my ps5 but i got one TF am i doing?

    • Same here.🤣

    • +1

I have an unpatched nintendo switch that I don't even play.
Yet I bought this and I've bought switch games… I need professional help..

      • Have you done any mods to the unpatched switch? Been trying to find one so can mod it but pretty hard now to get it done.

  • +20

    I purchased this at 449.
    Cries in 80 dollars

    • Dang man that made me belly laugh in public lol

  • Missed out on splatoon earlier a couple month back. Almost pulled the trigger on the last deal as well saving $80.
Glad I waited, can't see boxing day bring any better deals that this.

    • This one is much better than Splatoon imo

      • Personally prefer the Splatoon one by far but either way both were / are great prices.

  • Should have waited 1 year, bought mine last year without game though.. and much dearer..

    • +6

Don't worry, at least this one doesn't come with a game either

      • +4

The fact that Nintendo no longer includes a free game is just terrible, IMHO. How many of us have fond memories of whatever game was bundled with our first console or whatever? I still have my OG Gameboy that came with Tetris, which I must have played for about 2000 hours…

    • +1

There is no game with this?

      • +4

*Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet games sold separately.

  • Amazing deal!

  • +1

These are normally $550, never knew they were so expensive.

    • -2

Was never going to sell at that price

      • +7

Except it did sell really well at that price.

    • -2

How is $550 for a console expensive?

      • +11

Because besides from a slight screen and battery upgrade, this is the same hardware that was released nearly 6 years ago, with a SOC from nearly 8 years ago.

        • +4

You're underselling the screen, and the battery. The battery life is practically doubled, and the screen is fantastic as an upgrade.

Fair about the hardware though, but that's how consoles are!

          • +6

            @superroach:

            but that's how consoles are!

Not really. Past Nintendo handhelds had enhanced models (GameBoy Color, DSi, New 3DS) instead of pushing the same hardware for so long. Also, in previous generations, prices went down.

But I’m guessing lots of people here had the previous generation as their first generation, where prices didn’t really go down for the first time during the life cycle.

        • -5

You think that's bad, Nintendo was almost struggling to sell these things at launch prices
Electronics aren't getting cheaper to make every year anymore. The days of buying a newly manufactured console for 25% of its launch price are probably gone
What's worse, if it costs about as much to make a switch as they sell them for, what do you think's gonna happen when they try to make a faster successor?
          Price is gonna go up.

          • +1

            @Lief:

What's worse, if it costs about as much to make a switch as they sell them for

That’s not true at all. Besides from the Wii U, modern Nintendo consoles are underpowered allowing them to not sell at a loss like MS and Sony do.

what do you think's gonna happen when they try to make a faster successor?

You seem confused. With the Switch (and going buy the hacked leaks, it’s successor too), Nintendo is just using a Nvidia SOC. The Switch is basically just an Android tablet with a custom OS made by Nintendo. New SOCs increase in performance every year and don’t generally increase in price much (besides from chip shortages and supply chain constraints).

  • +6

    I don’t need it. I don’t need it. I don’t need it…..

    • Me neither, me neither, me neither……

    • +4

      Missed it. missed it. Dammit

  • +1

Don't need it but purchased regardless at this price. Thanks OP

  • Cheap! Got 1

  • Damn bought it for $449. Any way to get a price match within 30 days? I'd prefer not to return and simply buy again as this one is already gift wrapped under the Christmas tree!

    • If you find out, let me know please

    • +7

Maybe no price match, but you could always buy this one, and return when it comes with the original purchase receipt from the $449 console. not condoning this practice though lol…

      • +1

Yeah this seems to be the only way. There's even an option when returning through eBay to select "found a better price".
Either way it's out of stock for the sale price now.

  • +2

To be fair, eBay plus has been killing it with these weekly deals.

    • +1

Seems like only bigw holds these great deals

  • -1

I'm seeing $529 and take $26.45 off if I join Ebay Plus? (I'm not on Ebay Plus currently)

  • +2

    • -1

Lol, you weren't getting it before Xmas anyway.

      • It's coming today
        Onboard for delivery

Just in time for Xmas ;)

  • +3

took 5min chatting to hubby about getting rid of our old Swith… then saw code expired….crying

    • Buy now, deal with consequences later

  • Sigh, was getting gift cards then expired…

    • out of interest, where is the best place to get gift cards (assuming they are discounted etc.).

      • +1

I bought mine during cashrewards and also shopback mastercard deals. Not sure about it now.

    • Thank god it's back, else I'm not sure what to do with those gift cards

  • Didn't know when I woke up today I'd be buying a Switch. That happened.

  • Damn that was over real quick. The listing is still available with the code on the ebayplus deal….

  • Are anything special about this pokemon edition? Is it just the skin?

    • Just skin and joy cons colours. Good price for OLED model though.

      • +1

just don't understand who decided to use this unmatching colours for a console.

        • +1

          Personal preferences.

  • Expired as I was pulling the trigger, damn.

    • next time dont pull but push

  • Code gone

  • +1

Wtf i joined eBay Plus just to purchase this then code expired…

    • same here! want my $4.99 back….

      • +1

        It’s back. Got my $4.99 worth 😂

  • same to code gone

  • Got the non oled model for $300 new from ebay sale, for $70.30 more this one is better.

    • If it's the unpatched original version, you could get alot more

      • How do I check if its the unpatched and why would I get more for it?

        • type this in google
          is my switch patched

        • Take a look at https://ismyswitchpatched.com/ - if it's unpatched, it's more sought after because you can easily 'jailbreak' (i.e. homebrew) the system.

        • +1

How do I check if its the unpatched

If it the new red box (2019 model), then it's patched. You can also look up the serial number.

why would I get more for it

Unpatched switch has the ability to be software modded to play "homebrew" games.

          • @RichardL: Wait but if you've opned it wouldn't that make the price lower and since its much older wouldnt the price also lower more so? :O I've got the original unpatched. "Possible firmware out of box is like 2.1.0" it's not even an oled though.

      • They bought it new, so most likely the updated red box 2019 model.

  • Been waiting for one of these deals for months since I missed the Splatoon one and missed it again..

    • +2

Looks like it sold out in 10 mins after this post was up, so dont feel too bad about it. No way I would be checking my email every 5 mins while working….

      • Yeah I saw this about 30mins after it was posted, will wait for the next one haha.

  • Doh!

  • +12

With deals like this, you snooze, you lose. My advice is: make sure you know what you want and what your threshold price is, clear it with your partner before-hand so you don't need to have that conversation mid-deal, maybe set up an OzB alert so you have some chance of being notified when these deals go live, and of course make sure you have the money set aside, so when one pops up you can pull the trigger reflexively. Then the time between seeing the deal and buying will be about 30 seconds, giving you the best chance at success.

Like others, I had no idea this would pop up - I'm at work, and got two email alerts. I'd clicked through the deal, applied the voucher code and bought it in a little over 10 seconds from seeing the notification, because I've been waiting to see the OLED model come down under $400. With my criteria met, my brain didn't even need to get involved.

    Happy hunting folks :-)

    • How do you setup alerts like these?

      • +2

Go to the Deals page. Make sure you're logged in with your OzB account. Do a search (the 'Search deal posts' box) for the item in question (say, Nintendo Switch OLED). You'll see your search results, but at the top of the page just below the OzB banner and menu is the title of the search (in this case, "nintendo switch oled type:ozbdeal"). Just below and to the right there's a link that says 'Create Alert'. Click on that and you'll create an alert to your nominated email address every time that search string appears in an OzB deal (I tend to use quotation marks, so it only looks for specific words in a specific order, otherwise you tend to get a lot of false positives).

Good luck and merry Christmas! :-D

        • Wow. Thanks for this. will be using this a lot

    • +1

I just make sure to check the deals page at 10AM AEDST/AEST and if its not updated, I check at 10:30, then 11:00
I always pay via afterpay and only buy deals I know I could turn around and sell for a profit or if its an item I was going to buy anyway.
Not because I WANT to sell for a profit, but that way I know I can sell it quickly at cost if something stops me from needing/wanting the item anymore.

  • Noooooooo!!!

  • -4

    Beaten by the bots

  • -5

Why is this expired deal the top of the page? Kind of annoying to see - HEY YOU MISSED THIS DEAL - in your face lol

    • +4

You want good deals that go quick? Don't sit on the home page

      • -4

I mean i own multiple OLED switches so it's not for me anyways… but why is an expired deal still being shown.

And why am I getting negged for pointing out an expired deal shouldn't be highlighted on the main page? Are you all that immature and petty? Lol
