While AMD was clearly behind Intel in previous generations from a bang for buck perspective AMD has always been very strong.

This would be more than adequate for browsing, some light gaming (talking RTS and platforms not FPS) etc.

Have you come across any 1080p Laptops for <$500?

      • This AMD processor will outperform any intel CPU i've seen on a sub $750 laptop.
battery and heat though, i'm not sure about

    • People like you are the reason Intel can charge the prices they do. Don't even do any research.
For example, here's this processor vs a common $600 laptop CPU: http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Pentium-N3710-vs-…
That's not even taking into account AMD's superior graphics. AMD are actually very competitive in cheaper laptops/notebooks though not so much in power/heat department as they are based on a much older 28nm fabric.

That said, this is refurbished model and 1366 x 768 while very common at this price point is a real turnaway.

Glad to see Toshiba haven't changed their laptop design in 15 years.

All I can say is wear a pair of earmuffs.

I have pretty much this model and it's fan constantly blows. And no amount of tweaking or Eco settings changes it.

Being a reconditioned model on Grays makes me want to avoid it even more.

My current laptop was a refurb from Grays, i have had it about a year now and more than happy with it. It arrived with a dead power brick but once that was sorted no probs since. it was a Toshiba i5 for about the same price as this one

      • Glad you had a happy Grays experience. I know plenty of others that haven't.

  • Anyone know anything similiar for around the same price (give or take) that they would recommend?

  • Bought similar spec for a bit cheaper ($190 after 20%) last sale if you can hold out. Good once swapped with ssd. Upgrading to Windows 10 was a breeze using and certified via bios to remove bloatware.

    Only slightly less powerful cpu.

They usually list at around 4pm for some reason.
