Pioneer VSX-1130 165W 7.2 AV Receiver with 4K Upscaling, Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth $813.99 Delivered @ Dick Smith / Kogan

This unit has recently been superseded by the VSX1131 but there is technically very little to separate them.
Later version has simpler remote control and more 'app' features.
Originally VSX1130 had a RRP of $1,499, but I found it here for almost half that.
I have a laptop with HDMI so have all the 'app' features I need and more.

Delivery includes insurance.

  • It's $799 from Kogan eBay (which is the same company as DS), and $781.60 from kg electronic eBay with the 20% off home code.

    • Good find on kg electronic, definitely saves a few more dollars. BTW you can add Tandy to the list of companies that Kogan own, but for some reason their postage is almost double.

      • Also $799 on the Kogan website with free shipping

      • Is KG selling local stock?

  • Do these sort of things upscale any better than a decent 4K TV would?

    • +1

Unfortunately it's one of those things that you'll need to test, receivers should have a decent stab at it but whether they do it better than the TV is impossible to know without trying it. The VSX got good review, but a later gen TV may perform even better.

Don't treat an upscale feature as anything that'll make or break it. It's usually a minuscule difference in my experience.

  • Put Dicksmith in title

  • Is this fully compatible with HDR on PS4 Pro and Xbox One S?

  • There is no DTS:X is the 1130 but it was added via firmware to the newer 1131.

    • Absolutely correct.
Atmos was what I was looking for most, and the $600 price difference seems worth the sacrifice to me.

  • My amp just died last night looking for a new one , specs look good, amp looks like it's about a year old though.

Do dicksmith still have local stores would snap one up if I could pick it up in geelong / Melbourne area.

    • Afraid not available in local stores, but mine did arrive very quickly - 3 days.

  • Snapped one up, wonder how long order will take . Went look at brick and mortar shops couldn't find anything with similar specs that wasn't double the price , think I'm pretty happy

    • Mine arrived in 3 days! Connected to the network and happily streaming Spotify with Bluray and Apple TV connected. Internet radio was an unexpected bonus.

  • Got mine all hooked up as well, was stumped with the auto decoding but all worked out in the end.

Only drawback it doesn't have dts x but I'm not stressing .

  • Anyone with this…do you know if it can switch inputs and use it in a pass through mode without the amp on? Yamaha I have could and it is very hand when all you want to do is use the TV for sound.
