The non portable ones have base stations with a large water reservoir and use a cord to pump the water into the handle. Portable ones have the reservoir in the handle, which is why they look a bit funny to hold.

I've got a Phillips portable one that is smaller (was a very popular deal on this site back in the day), and I have to refill it twice to get a whole clean. This one looks like it has a reservoir twice the size which would come in handy.

My experience has been overall positive with water flossing. I have small gaps between my teeth and sometimes floss gets shredded/stuck and that feeling is like nails on chalkboard for me. Floss over time is also more expensive than recharging batteries and putting in water.

My only gripe is these things can get really messy. I can't use mine outside of the shower unless I want to cover the mirror and walls in water+residual spit. Using one like that guy is in the photo you supplied would be a sure way to spray paint everything in front of him in foamy water.

no wonder the guy using it is so ripped

  • How well do these things actually work?

Are they actually as effective as using floss to get in-between the teeth?

  • stuff it, i'm giving this a shot…i hate flossing!

  • I've used it and can say it's quite good but still can't replace flossing. I find it great for the places that's hard to floss (back of the teeth, between the western tooth and the last teeth).

The problem is if your dinner/lunch is actually stuck in between the tooth and the water jet is not powerful enough, you still need to floss it to get it out.

I've used this one but it died on me six months into it. Bought a WaterPik and still use it twice a week with normal floss. If you can't use the normal dental floss string like me, I use the floss sticks such as http://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/67059/Aim-Cool-Floss-… and find them much more usable than the normal floss string.

  • thanks bought one, I guess I am also giving it a shot based on c0balt's recommendation

  • thanks, been meaning to try one of these things for ages, but they're usually in the 70+ area.

  • thanks mate, will get this a try.

  • I think this is a fake brand, I checked the hydrofloss website and they dont sell this product, I have also check amazon and several other sites - cannot find this type of product under the hydrofloss brand, also noted that the brand symbol is different.
