6 Person Instant Up Cabin Tent for $179 @ ALDI Starts 1/4

630

This sounds like a bargain for a 6-person instant up tent. I have the Coleman Instant Up 6 Person tent and it costed me about $250 (with an eBay coupon). Again I'm not sure how good Aldi's tent is compared to the Coleman tent. But definitely good for people a strict budget.

This starts on the 1st of April (hope it's not an April fools joke :) )

Does it need 6 people to keep this tent up?

    • Depend on the weather I guess?

  • +1

Hm, just in time to compete with the eBay 20% off camping voucher.

I've always used the smiley face mouth to close a parentheses when needed. Is another one necessary?

    • +11

      Absolutely necessary.

      • +7

Completely agree. Unbalanced parentheses are a mortal sin!

        • +1

Can't the mouth be the closer as well as the mouth?

Always thought the extra one reflects a double chin

That's how Clive Palmer types smileys :)) or is it $)) ?

    • Gotta always follow syntax or else you get compilation errors when developing or worse… Please don't ask about the worse.

I'm sure this tent will suffice for all the hardcore ozbargain campers. We'll at least until the next deal comes along.

Could I put one up in the back yard and rent it out as a granny flat?

  • How can you possible compare Coleman instant up tent with this…

    I'm biased because I own a Coleman tent :)

    • Me too :)

It had a lot of good reviews when I bought it

    • +1

This looks extremely similar to the coleman instant up 6p. Wouldn't be surprised if it was made by coleman. Possibly thinner fabric but some coleman stuff is junk also, just depends on the range.

      • +1

You mean OEM manufactured by the same Chinese factory that does Coleman?

        • Yes I suppose so

    • +1

My friend bought it during last deal and it is good. Better then expected.

    Six very good friends.

If your profile pic was in it then count me in and instant up.

      • You know that's Trump's daughter, right?

        • And? She look fine to me. And rich.

  • 6 'Average' people or 6 OzBargainers? If they're as big as I think they are they'd probably only fit 4-5 OzBargainers.

    • +7

If it saves on camping fees, you'll get 8 or 9 OzBargainers im there.

      • Not with all their eneloops as well

    • OzBargainers have too much KFC & hungry jacks

      • Don't forget the McDonald's and Dominos.

  • Sweet found my new house. Half not kidding there is a quiet hidden park near me. Just gotta buy some anti rat/possum/straydog protection and a flashlight.

    • can't you just buy a block of land and subdivide for 10 tents.. Should make a killing on rent. :P

      • This sounds so hilariously funny and stupid I'm trying to imagine how in the what this might actually work. Haha lol pretty funny I would imagine it to be on the same par hilarity funny level as charging for public toilets haha lol (roller coaster tycoon style)

  • Are you seriously suggesting that I can go to my local Aldi on sale day and actually buy something awesome that they've advertised? Wow! Good luck with that!

    • yes, the queue starts at 5am..

  • Is this rainproof? Don't k ow if there's a spec I should be looking for.

    • I would hope so it is supposed to shelter you from the elements.

      • As I understand it a lot of 'cheaper' tents aren't necessarily rainproof, but wind, UV etc. I'd hope that it would be, just want to confirm.

    • It's "waterproofed to 2000mm", whatever that means!

Anyone manage to get this tent?

    • Yup!

      • Any thoughts/reviews?

        • It feels well made, haven't used it outside yet though. It's bigger than I thought!

I was able to set it up myself in the living room within a few minutes, though it would be much easier with 2 people. You basically fold it out and then extend the four telescopic corner poles until they click into place. Didn't try putting the fly on, but I'd imagine it's the same process as every other fly.

        • @f4te:
Also set it up in the living room. Quality looks decent, will be using it this weekend and there may be some rain so let's hope it holds up.

        • Set it up in living room so the kids could sleep in it.

Easy to put up, one person could do it but two people is a bit easier. Wife was able to take it down and pack it away herself. Weighs a fair bit when packed.

Build quality seems reasonable for the price but you won't be using it in any extreme weather conditions.

Am happy with the purchase and plan on using it for the odd weekend with nice weather.

    • I got one yesterday, but will most likely take it back.

Set it up last night to test and wasn't overly impressed with the quality. Lots of loose fabric strands, pegs are too small IMO and one of the leg straps was sewn in wrong so it had a twist I couldn't get out.

It's not bad quality for the price point but considering similar Coleman tents are heavily discounted at the moment I reckon they're a better buy.

      • Thanks for the update
