        • Yes. that worked. Thanks. Interesting that when I put in an Optus sim, didn't need to change settings.

    • Thanks for the steps. Ive been able to unlock according to FC unlocker however it still defaults to the Telstra website and doesnt recognise the kogan sim. Any thoughts?

    Classic Target…

  • 2 left at Carlingford NSW

  • Got the last one on display in Parra. Got a total of 2. Got the other from Coles.

Plenty left at Frankston (Vic) in Bayside shopping centre, I just got two.

Can confirm 3gb is included, I just activated mine and balance shows 2.99gb after testing a few web pages.

    Thanks op, great post!

  • No stock Innaloo or Morley (WA)

  • Thanks, OP. Bought the last one at Westfield Marion, SA. And because it was open box —- the man just gave me an additional 20% off!

  • I'm after a tablet data plan with a long expiry. I see Telstra is 20GB/365days for $150. Is there anything like that (but cheaper, and less data) and not necessarily with Telstra?

Ah the key words are prepaid mobile broadband long expiry.
There is 7GB/365 days for $50 with Optus. That is much more appealing

Ah here's a handy thread on Whirlpool:
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2615312

Basically $30 start kit (currently $10 at Woolworths) can give you 1.5GB/365 days. I like that plan

Still available online. Free C&C. May depend on local stock.

    • Now unavailable - was available until I tried to pay😢

Noob question - can you unlock these and put an optus sim in and use something like the $2 days plan where you get 500mb per day? so that everyday you use the dongle you only get charged 500mb (as long as you dont exceed the 500mb)

    • Once unlocked you can use any SIM you like. It lacks some of the 4G bands that Optus and Vodafone use in places, but you'd have to be quite unlucky to not have at least one supported 4G band. If it drops back to 3G, it'll only work on Optus and Vodafone where they have 3G 2100, since it lacks 3G 900. (It has 3G 850, being a Telstra-branded device….. funny that :)

    • I think the bands are hard wired and based on submodels like E8372h-608, E8372h-607 etc. Telstra sells 608 and Optus 607.

scroll down to middle of the page to see all submodels and specs.

  • Just bought one at Weston Creek Target in Canberra, plenty more there.

    • Eight left at Target in the Tuggeranong Hyperdome too (well, a couple of hours ago anyway).

    • None left at Macquarie Park, NSW

  • Only 2 left at Burwood but more at Leichardt NSW.

  • Rockingham, WA
Bought x2 about 5:30 today, they have x1 left.
But, they had them at $59 as I assume they're old stock expiring Nov 2018.
    They scanned at $59.
I asked a manager Shannon, he checked everything and said no worries for $9.
So get in quick if you want the last one. Yes they have 3gb data included.

    Good deal. Thanks OP.

    • Instructions above to unlock seem daunting but are clear and worked.

  • Picked up one up from Reynella SA today. Thanks OP :)

Bought one to stick in the car travelling interstate. No built-in battery is a win so could just leave it plugged in to a USB charger (tho we don't), and got it specifically for Teletra's coverage on some of the Vodafone black spots along the highway.

Was using Kogan SIM for GPS Nav and it seems to lose signal a lot!
Was mounted the same way with same phone with clear view of the sky

      • My wife's a bit of a media consumer and while we're fine at home with unlimited data, it's not quite the same on the road! So what we do is to use the Telstra stick as a fall back, which makes it a little bit of a pain to unplug it so we don't inadvertently chew up the more limited Telstra data.

I know it's not great to encourage its use, but I wouldn't mind having similar fast, unlimited data access (at a reasonable cost of course!) whether I'm at home, out, or in transit.

It doesn't help that it doesn't have all the bands that Vodafone uses. You could try complaining to Telstra :p

  • Ordered but my order was cancelled

  • Anyone able to help me here?

I cant download the Huawei Calculator zip in step four here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/299746#comment-4567368
and am stuck with a half unlocked modem. Just cant get it from Mega for some reason.
Maybe someone can email it to me? Its a tiny file.

  • I'm finding setting up a Telstra ID to be a PITA even after a day and a half and three chat calls to their support team. Previously had a Virgin dongle and just plugged it in and it was ready to go whereas this one seems to be too fussy. Kinda puts me off buying anything else Telstra.
