Was keen on it when it first came out, but after countless tries of trying to get one, I've sort of past that phase of wanting one now

    • I reckon!
I kept my eye on here a few times, missed the chance to buy, tried ebay…but it's only clowns selling it at way over rrp.

    • Same. My daughter wanted one and could never find one. Bought a RetroPie for the same price and it came with everything to plug and play and plays a big range of consoles.

InB4: piracy rubbish… everyone is getting the classic nes and doing exactly the same thing as what the RetroPie is doing already.

  • What is the original RRP?

    • +7

      $99.95

    • What is the original RRP?

      Here we go again…

    • +3

RRP is irrelevant just like Suitcases, Persian Rugs, and anything at Katmandu.

    Sold out already

I have an original nes with a stack of games and controllers. Does this mean it's worth more than $20??????

    • Yes.

    • $20.95

    • Yes, if you don't want it I will happily buy it off you for $20

    • More than $200

    • depends what games youve got. some are worth over $100 others are paperweights. the most valuable game i have is mario party 3 ($150+) on the 64. but nintendo stuff is always valuable

    • I'm guessing someone hates Nintendo enough to use their neg votes here. Surely there's an apple thread you can burn?

  • I got one during the last EB availability window, love it…

Just tried to get another from JB, missed out..

FYI - although not entirely (ok, not at all) allowed, I have side loaded approx 320 'other' games onto my original one - that paired with some cheap ($4.95ea) ebay wireless controllers, makes it a worthwhile purchase…

    • Does it still only play NES ROMs?

      • +1

Nah, the mod has been expanded to play other consoles now.

        • Great news. The modders working on this thing are terrific. Have they got SNES games working?

        • Yep. Varying levels of success though!

You can check out the reddit page r/nesclassicmods for updates and discussion.

      • +2

Yeah, performing the RetroArch hack allows you to play NES & SEGA ROMs. I've loaded mine up with the standard 650+ extra NES ROMs and I'm still only about a tenth of the way through trying each of them but once I get through them all I'll be keen to refine the selection then look into adding the SEGA stuff. Great little plug & play consoles, cheap as chips and so versatile thanks to these hacks. Highly recommended… if you can nab one.

        • cheap as chips? $99 price point, frankly I'd prefer getting a $60 android media player, modding it with Kodi and Retroarch and then playing retro games on that.. I don't need my emulator to look like a NES console.

        • @gizmomelb: That's nice :)

    • How do you side load games into it? (you're talking about the new Classic NES yeah?)

    • Put around 100 on mine just lost interest in it now love the compabilty in it thought plug and play :)

When I couldn't get one of these I just got a RaspberryPi 3 and loaded up RetroPi. Much better honestly, and cheaper.

  • +1

Raspberry Pi users - vent here:

  • Why did i hesitate… i got distracted for 5 mins, and now they are gone lol

    • They were gone about 15 min after deal was posted. It still showed up on site but when you added to cart, it said it was no longer available

      • That makes me feel a bit better lol Can't beleive how hard it is to get one!

        • +1

Try calling JB. Some stores may still have stock but may not hold for you.

    • it appears that a lot of the stores have stock as well - Just put one on hold in Southland, VIC for pickup tonight.

  • +1

Whoops. It seems that ive accidentally clicked on www.OzNintendoInStockNotifications.com.au, instead of www.OzBargain.com.au.

But seriously, can we just have a seperate section on Ozbargain for these stock notifications?

    • +1

      I agree, but…

Since I actually got my hands on one of these babies, and can see the absolute value in the purchase price of $99.00, I can hand on heart say that this unit is an absolute BARGAIN, worthy of any OZB notification or otherwise…

      • Affordable and great value at $99
      • Limited Supply - Sells out in minutes
      • Upgradeable to add even more value (perceived)
      • Add on Controllers available cheaply - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/232258835562

But, I do agree that perhaps 'Stock Availability Notification' (i have a notification already setup, and still missed out) is a better category for such bargains/items…

      But until then…

Just to expand on my positive experience further, we took it away with us this past weekend.

Took the NES Mini and 2 cables and 2 x wireless remotes. (used this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/172534335588)

Plugged it into a spare HDMI and the USB port (power) on the TV in the Hotel Room and hey presto, endless entertainment for the kids (& me!) when it was freezing outside.

We were Mario Kartin all night long…

Just waiting for some clever bugger to port KODI onto it and hey presto, all in one entertainment device…

        GC

        • "We were Mario Kartin all night long…"

          It doesn't have Mario kart

In fact, Mario kart was never released on the nes

          Why you making up lies???

        • @singhdingaling:

Due to some absolute Magic, you can now sideload other NES games and other console games as well, N64 included :)

gee, if only there was another device that has been around for a long time that did all that and more for less………..

        • @terminal2k: I'm with you - Sega does what Nintendon't.

    Thank you OP.

I saw your post. Got up from my desk. Walked straight out of work. Straight into JB. Asked if they had any left and got the last one!

  • +1

I saw about 4 to 6 of these in stock yesterday at JB Hi-Fi Coffs Harbour around 3pm. Might still be some in stock if anyone is interested and able to traverse the outback to this rustic town!

Just bought mine in store at the Strand Arcade, Sydney CBD. They didn't put them on display; you've to ask the guy at the cashier. Thanks to the OP.

  • And it appears that other stores still have them as well - Have one on hold for pickup tonight at Southland, VIC.

  • Target Brisbane CBD had 45 this morning. Just got mine, 8 left there now
Indooroopilly and Mt Ommany target out of stock
2 on shelf at CBD JBHIFI

  • Wish I'd seen this before posting in the forum - anyway there were three in stock at JB Hifi Brunswick (VIC) about an hour ago. Just sitting there on the shelf, certainly didn't seem like there was a frenzy for them or anything.

  • Target Highpoint in Victoria had 7 units on display on Thursday for $99. I was shocked to see them but I swear they were real!

  • Target Browns Plains had about 8 left about 9.30 this morning if that helps anyone.
