[Price Error] Mac Pro at Qantas Store for 93K points, or 5K points + $520

A friend brought this to my attention on Sunday morning, but you can get the last generation Mac Pro for 93,000 points (using barometer for 4230 points for $25 Myer gift card, that's only about $549. If you use the Points + Pay slider to reduce the points to 5,000, you only have to pay $520. Not sure if it's a mistake or just clearance, but I ordered one Sunday. Hasn't shipped yet, but should in the next day or so.

Price error (moved to forums): Emails are now coming through confirming the price error. As compensation Qantas are providing 2000 points and a 20% discount code for those who unsuccessfully ordered.

          I've never heard of a cc that charges interest instantly for purchases… Its usually only cash advances.

      Why is he selling it for that low?

      Surplus stock is a reason to cut price by more than 50%?

      If someone actually needs a Mac Pro then I would jump on that stdeal rather than risk the very likely, almost certainty, of the OP listing being a price error and not honored.

      There's still 3 left on that listing as of typing this. I wonder how many OZBers got one.

        They probably don't have the Mac Pro yet - has probably put in an order for 3 from the Qantas store - and is hoping it gets fulfilled. If it doesnt ship they will cancel the auction.

    It's actually an interesting situation. Most online stores will only send an 'order acknowledgement' until they had a chance to check the order and dispatch the item, that's when they send a 'tax invoice', confirming a transaction has actually taken place.

    Qantas sent a tax invoice right away. That is much harder to back out of.

        Nah, you can install Windows without VM. You have to install "BootCamp" which is Apple's dual boot system, but after that, you're booting Windows natively.

        Of course, you an also do virtualisation, at a pretty good speed too.

      Yes! Bootcamp runs it as though it was a native Windows machine and is included software with Macs.

      just did some googling and it appears 1pt = about 0.66cents.

      so if my shitty maths works out this amount of points work out to $617… so i highly doubt anyone's getting a mac pro :p

    I did three separate orders - hoping one comes thru but given that it is still open I am not liking my chances….

    I doubt that the Qantas store actually has any goods on hand but what would I know.

    I so would have waited a few extra days - or at least until my order was shipped before letting this cat out of the bag :)
