Had my eye on this backpack for a while but haven't seen it go below $150 so another $50 is a good bargain.
Great convertible bag for carry on.

  • Fantastic, I have also been eye this bag for ages now. Fashion lane listed it hitting $124 for it's lowest ever recorded, so have been waiting for it to reach that. This is an even better price!

    Thanks!

Order online as stores have very limited stock.

Highly recommended - have used this bag for years as my primary travel bag. It's great because it fits with all airline carry-on limits (if you don't over-stuff it). Very sturdy, and the zip open access makes packing and unpacking very convenient.

The only possible con is the hide-away backpack/shoulder straps. Only because I rarely use them, and they add noticeable bulk and a bit of extra weight. The backpack straps are also a bit of an uncomfortable fit, but that's to be expected for clip on straps.

    Good buy for <$100!

ordered via Kathmandu site as cashback is 7% in comparison to eBay 1.2% …

  • Thanks for posting the deal.

Ordered through mobile, couldn't select a colour on the website for some reason so it wouldn't add to my cart. If anyone else is having trouble ordering, I suggest you try mobile as well.

Don't forget cashback too, although I'm not sure if it works on mobile but I tried it out anyway.

    • Cashrewards says you need to be on desktop for it to track…

Can anyone confirm free shipping, as website says over $100 and this is $99.98?

      • +2

I bought for click n collect from a store.

just tested now, and looks like shipping is free! ha, should have just got it delivered!

      • Yeah I can confirm that there's free shipping.

Also, I've found a post about cashrewards: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/222005

        Rep stated in the comments:
"Yes Cashrewards will work on mobile, its just the same, please make sure to follow all the same guidelines as on desktop. As always if for any reason your purchase does not track after 7 days just let us know."

The reason I'm not sure is because I've tried it out before on a cheap purchase and it didn't track for me.

      • +2

Just got an email saying that my purchase was tracked.

  • Thanks, Just ordered one. Will be nice to replace the years old heavy rolly carry on.

  • Does it take long for in store pick up?

    I'm flying out on Sunday…..

    Hmmm

1.42kg empty is a bit heavy though for a backpack… esp when limits are often 7kg…

    • most airlines dont check the weight of your carry-on. My only experience was with Tiger. and you can always take out some stuff and then put them back in later.

    • I'm wondering the same thing, I fly home Sunday so won't be contactable before then for pick up lol.

    • +2

in store pickup said 2-5 days. it appears to be delivered from the online warehouse to the store, so it's not simply a matter of picking up existing stock.

      • Thanks for that! handy to know.

I'm on 4 air asia sectors, so I don't want to take the risk. They clearly state 7kg total weight amongst all your carry on bags (even laptop bag/personal item). JQ is the same I think. I think I'm just gonna bring a light duffel type bag.

Will keep an eye on this as its a great hand carry backpack for when you're on a full service carrier (not as stringent on weight).

        • +1

lozza, we've just taken 3 international Air Asia flights in the last week. I was worried about it before we left but no one has checked our carry on once.

I saw people with massive bags and even big boxes on the flights, don't stress.

          @cala90:

This can be hit and miss. Depends whether supervisor staff are watching….or airport authority doing random checks. If this is the case they check everyone. Seen it happen on multiple occasions. You need to plan contingencies for this happening as it can prove extremely inconvenient.

Unfortunately all good travel bags are this heavy

    • 1.42kg is normal for a backpack that size which has a padded for the laptop compartment and the straps.

Anything less and I would be suspicious that it was too flimsy.

  • Remember 7% Cash Back (if it applies).

  • anyone know if this is big enough to house a 17inch laptop?
    :: edited 15in ch only :(

Thank you! Bought this for an upcoming nz trip :)

  • Why would I buy this over a $15 from Kmart/Aldi/BigW at same weight/size ?

    • +2

quality and durability…nothing more annoying than having a bag fall apart and your dirty Y-fronts being exposed to the public

      • +2

        Superman doesn't seem to mind…

      • Sorry but still can't justify $100 for that bag. Saw it in store, not impressed.

  • Appears they are out of black, anyone had any luck in the stores for stock?

  • Any reason to pick farpoint 40 over this one?

    • Lifetime warranty. If you think you would be abusing the bag, then go for the osprey.

    Thanks.

  • anyone have received the order?

  • picked up a blue one in store, I was passing and walked in. excellent. thanks
I nearly pulled the trigger online twice last week.

  • received my order.

i ordered a darkblue, but the color of the one i got is so different from the one shown in the photos. wtf…

    • photo?

from memory, the one I saw instore looked pretty much the same as the one on the website…I didn't compare the two directly though.

      • the dark blue bag i received is darker (both blue and orange colors) than the one shown in the photos.

        • GF just bought the last one at the QV store, so I can have a look at it tonight.

I reckon it's pretty close, and any variation is just lighting used to take the photos, which is pretty standard…but I will take a look to confirm!

        • Nope, you're absolutely right - the colour is significantly darker and less vibrant than the photos. To the point you could probably return it, if you purchased based on the specific colour.

I actually prefer the darker colours myself (and more importantly, the gf likes it, because I dont like the blue colour at all tbh!), so it's fine for us. But you're right, they are significantly darker than the photos.

  • I just clicked on the link again, It's now set as a clearance product, the price is now dropped to $95.00! however, black only.

I received my black one last week and used it on the weekend to carry my camera gear, picnic rug, packed lunch and drink, it's very comfortable and lots of room.

    • +1

in store only, if you can find stock - it's out of stock online (was actually reduced to $95 on clearance after it was sold out online already).

we bought the last one (blue) in QV melbourne…spencer st store had a black one when I called, if any is looking for one.

      • You are right, I saw the add to cart button so thought you could still order it online, clicking add to cart will show an error in the cart.

  • Finally picked up my order from the post office, golly is this bag huge.

Been inspecting this for over an hour and I still don't think I've found every compartment.

  • Got mine on Thursday last week nice bag plenty of space in it! Glad I got the blue it looks nice :) thanks op for posting the deal! Have a feeling that the price is now reduced so that postage is also added :p
