40% off Car & Truck Wash Products - Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash 1.9l - $18 + More @ SuperCheapAuto (Saturday, 15th April)

640

As a part of this deal posted by mark-emark, there will be 40% off car and truck wash products on the day.

I purchased Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash 1.9L from a previous deal and found it to be a quality product. A nice factor of the product is it smells like bubblegum when using it to wash the car (the wife thinks it smells like ice cream?).

Please note that this has been cheaper previously, but it's a product that doesn't go on sale all that frequently, so if you need to restock or are interested in giving it a go, this'll be a good opportunity to buy some at a decent discount.

Another popular product, Meguiar's Ultimate Wash & Wax 1.42L will be $19.80c on the day.

There'll also be Meguiar's Soft Wash Gel 1.89L selling at $16.20c.

Lastly, Meguiar's NXT Generation Car Wash 1.9L will also be on sale for $18.

All discounted car and truck wash products can be found here (please note that the discounted prices should be active on the 15th).

  • Would this stack with the supposed 25% off on 15th Sat

    • +1

Don't believe so unfortunately, as the disclaimer at the bottom of the email states, "Discount off regular retail price".

bastards, bought this last week at 25% off ebay store and this week 40% lol

    • If you're a club plus member they may credit you the price difference back - I've had all of my previous SCA Ebay orders auto matched to my club plus account and credits added from them.

      • Can eBay purchases link to your club member accounts?

        • somehow it did with mine, same email address with ebay and sca club account.

        • Yep, all of mine have been linked and I've had credits on ebay purchases before - assume it's linked via email address.

I'm a big fan of Autoglym over everything else and 2.5L of this stuff for only $19.80 is a steal.

    • Been using Meguiar's NXT but this looks worth a shot…

    • Meguiars ultimate is the best imo

    • Thanks for the link, didn't even know they produced this in such large sizes. Going to take a while to get through it though…

  • Is there a huge difference between stuff like Meguiar's, the SCA and everything in between? Or is it more just technique?

    • +1

It's worth asking the manufacturers of the more expensive washes whether their products contain salt (sodium alkyl benzene sulphonate) like ArmorAll.

  • IF they ever have stock

  • +1

There's so many different ones, how will I know which one is best?

For example I know you get half a liter less with the wash and wax but if it really works it seems like a no brainer as you save money and time on not having to have to wax?

Also NXT vs gold class? Which one is better?

    • +1

I've only used Gold Class, so no idea of the differences.

Got the Gold Class because of the pleasant scent and the fact that it conditions as well as washes. As I have paint protection on my car, I avoid anything with wax in it as I believe the wax can erode the paint protection?

Did a google search and found this and this, which might help answer your question.

Edit: Looks like the UW&W has a pleasant scent too, wonder if it's the same scent as the Gold Class.

Ultimate Wash & Wax has this sweet mango and lemon scent.

i use wash and wax. dunno about damaging the paint work, but i think it helps to keep up some protection between waxes.

      Let me help
Gold - use this if you apply paste wax or sealants. It leaves nothing behind that alters the look of your wax
NXT - similar to gold but has different detergents that breakup dirt better. Better for dirtier cars
UW&W - doesn't really have wax but glossing agents which leave a just waxed looked. Does add some slight protection. Great for non protected cars or those that need paste wax reapplied soon. Acts like a booster for the wax
Soft - a good shampoo but consider any of the others above better
Don't get too bogged down on choosing one. Meguiars make great shampoos and a better choice than other over the counter options

  • I've tried all 3 and Meguiar's Ultimate Wash & Wax is the best

I do use the cheaper ones in my foam lance first

    • Can you describe how the Ultimate Wash & Wax is better than the Gold Class?

      • +3

Foams up better (washing cars is all about the suds/foam)and has wax which gives the car a shiner finish

It's nothing compared to waxing your car, but every little bit helps

Meguiars has 4 ranges of products targeting different cost brackets

They go: Ultimate > Gold Class > NXT > Regular

If you want the best, get Ultimate, if you want the cheapest get the Regular red stuff

        • Cheers. I am actually using the Ultimate at the moment. Wondering if I should give Gold Class a try next.

        • +1

@edfoo: Ultimate is better than Gold Class

The only thing I use Gold Class for is in my foam lance as a pre-watch

  • Can someone explain their experience on the differences between Gold Class, Ultimate and NXT?

  • where to get good cheap clay bars?

    • Supercheapauto also has 25% off other items this weekend.

    • -

    • I have tried a cheap "3m" one from aliexpress, looked the exact same as the one Peteroz linked. It was shit and not malleable at all. Stick with Meguiars or Mothers claybars, both have been excellent for me.

    • +2

Last time I ordered clay bars off eBay it got blocked at customs and returned.

      • thanks for the input, the customs are pretty strict. i will look only at Australian ebayers

Anyone that's used both Meguiars Ultimate and Autoglym car wash that can compare/comment?

    • +4

the main diff between megs and autoglym is the megs is a high suds/slicker type of wash, where the autoglym does not have the sort of suds or slippery texture to it which i've found to leave less of a film over the paint when rinsing/drying.

However I feel that the film from meg's washes is able to trap dirt better, reducing the risk of rubbing the dirt into the clear coat, but this is speculative.

Autoglym's recommended usage amount is about 40ml/20L where as any megs wash (bar hyperwash) will reccomend approx 160-170ml/20L.

good price for the Autoglym shampoo conditioner here for $29/5L, which would last an eternity.

      https://clickableautomotive.com.au/autoglym-bodywork-shampoo…

      • SCA doesn't seem to sell the 5L, so:

        2.5L for $19.79 = $7.92/L at SCA
        5.0L for $29.00 = $5.80/L (free shipping)

So much for SCA sales, LOL. Thanks! :-D

  • My goto wash is Meguiars Gold Class. I also use a proper wax or sealant every few months and the car stays super clean even after rainy days.

    • out of interest what sealant do you use? looking for a recommendation! currently trialing autoglym aqua wax i think

      • From what I've learned online today, aqua wax is just a light top-up at each car wash every couple of weeks, so the wax layer isn't completely removed. So a car that's not washed often (or never been done 'correctly' in the first place like mine), you're meant to: Wash, polish, clay bar, then wax with the little round sponges and a liquid/more solid wax (not the spray-on aqua wax). Then you're meant to wash the car every two weeks. You start using aqua wax at the second and for each subsequent wash. Then in 3-4 months you do a 'real' wax again that one time, instead of aqua wax.

If you're confused why I mentioned this, it's because when you say 'sealant', you might be thinking the same way I was… That you use aqua wax as the only sealant… But you're meant to use it with the car wet. So it probably won't do as well as a 'real' wax of another product someone recommends. (I thought aqua wax was a replacement for 'difficult' waxing. But it's only a top-up.)

Edit: Grr… I wish SCA would get their descriptions correct. It seems from the autoglym site, this might be a 'real' wax for the every 3-4 months wash (that is easier than the karate kid way): http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/Autoglym-Extra-Glos…

SCA calls it a "polish". But the Autoglym site says: "Extra Gloss Protection is not a polish, it is a liquid wax." And: "Extra Gloss Protection has been formulated to last on your vehicle for up to 30 washes depending on vehicle usage and storage. We would recommend reapplying Extra Gloss Protection 4-6 times a year to ensure year round protection. If you use Extra Gloss Protection then you don't need to use High Definition Wax as well."

      • Currently Meguiars M21

  • Can anyone comment on the meguiar quik wax? Can I apply this as part of towel drying my car after the rinse?i remember they suooosed tonhave something like that but can't remember the name.

    • Yes you can use the ultimate quik wax as a drying aid

  • Turtle Wax Rinse Free Wash & Wax is very good and smells great i know its a cheaper one but i do prefer it over Mothers California Gold
Shame that they never seem to have any when there is a sale on.

  • What kind of cars do people have that they are spending $20+ for less than 2L of wash? I have been using CT18 for years (about 20 or so) and only use a cap full per bucket, and it come up great. 6L for azure bout 20 bucks. I know in some forums they say it's harsh, but I have cars that were washed weekly with this for 10 years and paint is still perfect

    • It's like most things, you can get away with spending less (and that's what I used to do), but after buying Meguiar's thanks to a previous deal, I'll stick with it.

I found it makes getting off tough marks easier compared to when I was using the old stuff, plus it smells nice when using it. It leaves the car with a wonderful shine afterwards as well, which the old stuff didn't deliver on (sure it used to look clean when using the old car wash, but with the Gold Class, the car looks new after a tub).

I wouldn't buy it at full price, but when it's at a decent discount (like it was yesterday), it's well worth it imo.

Each to their own and hey if what you use is working for you, more power to ya mate :)

I've gone through 2/3rds of the original bottle I bought nearly a year and a half ago and wash the car fairly regularly (every couple of weeks)….you get a good run out of one bottle.
