Fair enough but on the high end they are very popular and anyone would be able to tell the difference of they have it a chance :)

        • +8

If anyone who spends serious coin on a setup listens to crap youtube rips or similar that's 100% on them.

        • Do you have a source of your statistic? I am very interested.

        • +4
          1. If you're buying these headphones, you probably already have a large collection of CD or FLACs to listen to.
          2. Waste of money? What about those buying $2k+ TVs or $30k+ cars or expensive watches/computers/jewelry/etc/etc. People just have different hobbies.
          3. These are fantastic headphones <$2k that will last you 10+ years if taken care of. Also unlike other technology, speaker tech doesn't advance nearly as rapidly, so you would not expect these to get outdated any time soon.

Burnertoasty, anyone dropping $2000~ on a pair of high end cans, sure as sh!t isn't listening to 192kbps streams or MP3s on an iPod or phone. They'll be also buying/already have a high end portable media player (like a FiiO or similar) paired with a headphone amplifier, and/or a high end audio interface for a PC, and they'll only be listening to FLAC/lossless CD rips, I can assure you.

@Classified: A $2000 TV, or a $30k car aren't even approaching what is considered a luxury item. On a scale of expense, these would be equivalent to a $20k TV or a $400k car.

        • +6

@Burnertoasty: Exactly. Much cheaper hobby than those into high end TVs/cars/watches etc. If I say I spent extra $5-10k on luxury inclusions for my new car, no one bats an eye. But spend $2k on headphones I will be using on a daily basis and will last me over a decade, everyone loses their mind.

@gorillainwild: Source: imagination. So you know it's legit.

        • @Burnertoasty: Listing statistics that have nothing to do with your claim is pointless.

        • -2

@Diji1: I haven't linked any statistics. I've drawn an analogy to highlight how disproportionately expensive these headphones are compared to other luxury items.

        • @Burnertoasty: If you think $2000 headphones (or even $500 headphones) are only 5% better than $100 headphones then there is something seriously wrong with your ears.

        • -8

@steelpanther: I think there is something seriously wrong with someone who buys $2000 headphones.

        • @Burnertoasty:
The only number in that article is 34%, not 99?

You don't have $20 million in your bank?

      • +4

I was going to buy these but I've only got 19 million. I'll try again next year.

        • +1

If you send me your credit card details, I'll send you a million if you want.

        • +3

@gorillainwild: what a kind gesture, I've just sent you a pm with number and cvc. Thanks again.

      • Just waiting for my $20 million to clear in the bank from my fellow Nigerian prince

  • Its good to see you lads on here. I am after some Fiio gear hopefully you can give us some good future deals.

  • +3

Less than 1% cheaper than Jaben Audio.
    Not much of a discount.

    • Well they are discounted too! A easter special too :)

  • The price is still a few hundreds too high for me to buy :(

    • +1

Take a digit or two off and I would grab a pair and up vote the deal.

  • Op is there a way to sort by savings?

  • +3

Whoever buys this, can I be your friend?

    can it hear crysis?

Only the financial crisis in your bank account.

Anyone who can afford 1684 for headphones dont need to be looking on ozbargain lol.

  • Every one is free to buy as they please. I have seen many people waste lots of money on audio gear to listen to low res MP3s. People waste money on beats and they are crap they fall for the hype!

You can get good quality audio gear cheap enough look for deals you can always find mid-range Sony,Sennheiser,Audio technica headphones on sale for a decent price. Way less then a set of beats will cost. Buy an okay DAC they can be had for cheap any where from 30 to up to your imagination. use your phone to play lossless or MP3s @ 320kbps.

    no cashrewards ?

Whoever can afford this headphone should also consider a decent source to go with it. This one is on special at only $3499, down from $9799….https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/collections/easter-stock-clearance/products/copy-of-astell-kern-ak240-digital-audio-player
    Cough…cough…

I can't believe each time these headphone deals come around the same fools (read:probably poor people) come out of the woodwork

The fact that different people can have different tastes or priorities still eludes some people is amazing

    • Yes I just don't get it.. people will happily fork out many thousands of dollars for a hifi system but somehow think it odd to spend a couple of thousand on headphones. I spent $200 on mine but that's only because it was all I could afford. I use them every day so if I can get better quality and enjoy my listening more then it's definitely worth it.

    • Yea totally. I would have jumped on these but I was after a pair that was gold plated.

  • Will these connect to my iPhone 7?

  • +2

Awesome been saving up for this one since 1907. Now is the time.

  • Dang still $982 short. Sad face.

  • :(

  • Thanks op. These are so cheap that i got one for every family member and my dog.

    • +1

Hi it's me, your dog. Woof woof.

  • Wow, and I had to take the wrath from my wife over buying a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50X headphones from Amazon for $180 AUS delivered. At least my wife settled down after listening to a couple of her favorite pieces of music, and $180 does not exactly break the bank, for very high end sound. Each to their own of course, but I do not think I could sell this as value to myself or my wife. I do however see that this is a great price compared with its RRP. I just wonder how it would hold up against my "cheapie" ATH-M50X headphones.

  • This is not a negative nor a go at the supplier, that's a pretty awesome discount.

Makes you wonder though, $1,000 off and the OP still (I assume) would make money off a sale….that means the margin is at least 60% at the retail level.

Again, not a jib at anyone or anything. Just food for thought.

    • Definitely not 60% for us maybe, I wish! We really don't make much if anything off these!

      • Tks for dropping further OP. Been eyeing since last boxing day when it was $1628. Just got one. Let me know if the deal of the amp will be sweetened ;)

  • Seriously, I have $200 trillion in cash also known as super ear man. So I am cautiously sticking to my budget wanting to buy a Sennheiser HE 1. Op, do you guys have that?

    • Haha we could order one for you if needed!

      • Can you get the Sennheiser HE 1 for less than 75,000?

  • This one is back up for Anzac day only!

    • You still haven't answered my question.
How much for the Sennheiser HE 1?
