If we signed up for the Bank of SA one, are we still eligible for this one?

    • Yes, It says in the terms that you're exempt only if you've held the same Complete Freedom account prior.

      • Thanks.

Just confusing cos OP talks about BoSA but the deal is got BoM.

I dont think you can. Both of them are Complete Freedom Account.

They are just the same bank, but nothing to loose to apply it

      • Won't they have different bsbs though?

I wasn't eligible for SA one when I had St George one, no new account was opened.

        • @tajid:

So if you've opened the St George one last year you won't be eligible for this.

        • @grunge: not sure about last year. I opened mine in jan i think. When i tried to take advantage of Bank of SA offer & opened new account with them, no new account was opened because I already have the freedom account with St George.

        • @tajid:

I opened a st George acct in June and got the bonus in Oct, and closed it up soon after.

Sounds like any iteration of the "Complete Freedom" account is disqualified, regardless of branding.

  • Problem with this one is that you have to keep the account open until the end 30th June.

And if you don't deposit $2000 a month you get hit with a $5 fee, which will be about $10.

  • I haven't investigated yet but if possible, how would you verify identity with BOM when you live in Sydney?

(P.S. OP you accidentally wrote $40 instead of $50 once).

    • Cheers

    • theoretically speaking you can do it at a stg branch. i dont know the specifics but if you give them some customer ID or account id, the stg systems can definitely find you. its the same IT system with a different skin ontop depending on which website you go to

in terms of ID processes though, im not sure if they will allow it, but its technically possible red tape aside

      • Yep! If you watch closely at the branch, you can see they haven't even bothered to reskin the internal side.

  • Have to call into. St George branch in Sydney.

    • Make sure you tell them Ozbargain sent you.

    • Ah OK. So since I closed my St George Complete Freedom account late last year I wouldn't be eligible anyway.

      • when they say Complete Freedom account, does it include St George? That is technically a different bank from Bank of Melbourne? I also had a St George Complete Freedom recently closed

  • I have Complete Freedom Bank SA account here in WA. Doubt I would also be eligible for this deal.

  • Never heard of Bank of Melbourne. Does this deal apply if you reside in another city (Perth)?

    • Owned by Westpac. Worth trying at least.

    • BoM is basically stgeorge

    • Whoops, removed comment. A search states BOM was formerly St George in Victoria.

Tried to open but goes back to the first page at the last submission page, anyone else?

    • The same happened to me. :/

    • Mine was approved. The email said wait for another email for the next steps

    • Anyone know they've a branch in Sydney?

      • Only in VIC

  • Received email that the account is open

Will need to do ID check at Australia post which is fine with me. Woo

    • Just out of interest, what state are you in?

      • NSW
