Pic's Really Good Peanut Butter 380g for $3.75 (RRP $7.50) @ Woolworths

730

For all you peanut butter fans out there…personally, I prefer Mayver's to this, as I find Pic's somewhat dry, but I'm onto my last jar of Mayver's, so time to stock up on this whilst awaiting (rather impatiently) for the next price reduction..

Bought this when it was 1/2 price at Coles a couple of weeks back. Never tried it before until then. It's delicious. Highly recommend it. Get the crunchy, not the smooth.

    • +1

Dammit think I got the smooth from Coles, still haven't opened it might buy the crunchy now

  • Awesome, getting this today I've only have a 1/2 jar left of pic's.

  • Are there any additives?
We use Coles organic peanut butter as it's 100% peanuts and reasonably priced.

    • +1

Aside from a bit of salt, nope..made entirely from peanuts..

    • +4

If you read the fine print on the Coles organic peanut butter, they are peanuts from china …
Price can at times reflect quality. If it is too good to be true, then it is.

      • Damn i checked right now…you re right!Any suggestion for local peanut butter not roasted and 100% peanuts?

        • +1

Most health food / bulk food stores make their own peanut butter or have a DIY servery. I think they're all roasted to some extent?

        • Dick Smith

        • +1

          Yes, this one. i/e Pic's

They do a reduced or no salt one.

  • Is it Really Good Peanut Butter ?
    Or just a brand name?

    • +1

      A bit of both.
Really good really natural turned into brand name.

  • +1

    it better be really good

  • +2

Good price. If I recall correctly this peanut butter has a really strong roasted flavour….some folk may not like it…..but I'd think they are nuts!

    • You are what you eat ;)

  • Australian grown peanuts?

  • Good find mate..I was wandering through isle of coles and woolies to find discounted PB.

  • +4

Yeah this is also my second choice from mayvers

    • I feel like I've just found some kindred spirits… love Mayvers and Pics peanut butter… soo good.

  • It's my first choice but Mayver's specials are more affordable! So conflicting.

  • +1

Pics can only get dry if you let the oil rise to the top (which is what real peanut butter should do) and don't stir it enough. If you're not going to eat the jar in one day store the jar upside down. Makes it easier to stir the peanut butter when the oil is at the bottom of the jar.

    • Mate, don't worry, I know all the tricks of the trade with these natural peanut butters, including storing all of them upside down. But for whatever reason, the last couple jars of Pic's that I got didn't even have much oil to stir in…maybe they are just exceptions to the norm, will find out when I stock up on these…

      • Yep, agree with you. Bit dry I reckon. Mayvers FTW

    • I generally alternate the jar every time I use it. That way the oils are constantly rising up through it keeping it moist.

  • Yes!!!! I love you OP

Remember to keep your labels as the inside has coupons to redeem for more jars and prizes

  • Might have to try some, only ever buy Kraft.

    • I just bought 4 jars of kraft thinking pics and mayvers wont be on sale for time (my 2nd and 1st chiice respectively)

  • +1

It's not Mayvers, but it's the next best thing.

  • saw an article about this a month ago. was a good read

  • +1

    Didn't like Pic's much, preferred Mayver's though

  • +1

I would never pay $7.50 for it, sorry! Nop a chance!

    • +4

Nobody is asking you to, that's the entire point.

      • -1

Yes, the entire point is I won't pay $7.50 RRP for it.

  • Lol at Mayvers vs Pics
Both are almost identical containing only 99% peanuts + salt

People saying one is drier than the other

    • +4

Imagine, people who are informed on the subject commenting. It's so much better when we just have JV et al filling threads up with uniformed crap, great point.

    • +1

Different peanuts and different roasting techniques obviously make a big difference. Common sense stuff really.

  • +3

    Dark roast crunchy is great

    • +2

I really like both crunchies, but yeah, dark is more awesome.

  • Haven't tried either of these yet; my missus keep buying 'Ridiculously Delicious Peanut Butter', which is, funnily enough, ridiculously delicious.

    Pretty special video. —> http://www.ridiculouslydelicious.com.au
