I loved The Witcher 2 & am going through TW3 atm (amazing game) but couldn't get into TW1. Thanks for posting though!

    • +2

Heh I'm the opposite, I thought W1 was way better as they revamped the combat/skill system in W2. Both are great though and were released DRM free which is a huge bonus.

      • I might give it another shot in the future. Witcher 3 though, now that's amazing, once you get used to the controls, combat system, etc, absolutely amazing.

Yeah I bet… just wish I had something to play it on. Anyway, happy gaming!

        • @decr: Pick up a cheap XB1 & then a $20 copy off Gumtree. Godspeed!

        • +1

@Tuftsdude: Don't tempt me, I'm still working on the backlog of games from 8 years ago…

        • @decr: Haha me too. I'm a generation behind :P

      • I've recently installed it for the first time inspite of the fact that it's been in library for years…

I've only played the first 2 hours or so, but something's bothering me. Does it really feel like you're dropped into the deep end at first go? Plus the way the quests and story jumps around really feels confusing to me. Will it get better?

        • Ah yes I remember that. Once you learn to use the skill system it gets a lot easier. I remember having a hard time as well but then realised I had made poor upgrades. This was years ago so memory is a bit hazy… I think after grinding for a bit or the swamp place it got a lot more enjoyable. Stick with it, it's a great game.

        • @decr:

Thanks for that. I thought I just didn't "get it" Everyone is claiming that it's a terrific experience but I thought I was the only one going, "what the heck is going on?"

  • Thanks claimed.

Quick hack for finding what your auto saved password is:

          1. Visit the webpage where your password is saved at
          2. Make sure the masked password is already auto filled in the password field
          3. Right click on the password section and select "inspect element"
          4. Change the type "password" to "" (basically remove the password type)
          5. Enter and dismiss the inspection console
          6. Tadaas.. you can now view the saved password
        • @edrenalin: <span ng-click="login.changePassword()" class="btn btn—gray">Change</span>

Thats what I see when I do above?

        • @PLANT:

You are probably doing something wrong…

the console should look like this if you are in the right place http://imgur.com/a/v6eAt

This code has already been used

      • Not by me, genius.

        • I know… Just posting it there in case anyone else wants to attempt it…

Pam pa ram. Pam Pam pa ram.

    • I don't get the reference….

      • In Witcher 3, you hear the guards singing Pam Param almost as much as you hear the guards say "I used to be an adventurer like you… then I took an arrow in the knee" in Skyrim.

        • Ohhhhhh…….well I've never played the game yet so would have had not known that….thanks…

  • -1

Doesn't look like it comes with a Steam key.

  • Success!

  • Thanks claimed. Omg have gotten so many free games coz of Ozbargain and don't have time to play any as so busy but can't stop hoarding the free games whenever they are available here lol

    10 year old game…

    • +2

      It's free and still a good game…

    • SC BroodWar is from 1998, 18 years ago, people still play it competitively.

      • Doesn't compare to chess, checkers, backgammon, etc.

Damn. Registrations on new accounts temporarily closed due to bots screwing up there servers.

  • Got this yesterday when this deal was first posted. Didn't need an Ars Technica account to claim game. Just clicked the link. Got the code and redeemed via GOG.com.

Must be popular as its now says you'll need a free Ars account in order to claim a Witcher code.

  • woo hoo thanks op

  • Hi Guys, just joined OZBargain, I am unable to use the code it always said that "This code has already been used. If you believe this is incorrect, please let us know."
I am using Mac, tried opening on Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, but doesnt work. Help?

    • try different email address. I got the same notification on my first email address and managed to redeem the next one on different address.

      • Different emails = same code…

  • Great, Thanks!

  • 9gb download. my super slow internet is struggling.

  • Thank-you it worked with no issues.
I really do like GOG and the games being DRM free.

  • My code had been used…

    • Same…

      • -1

I just redid the process and they sent me another key that worked.

    • Same! :(

      • I just redid the process and they sent me another key that worked.

  • -1

First the website was down for a few hours
Then it was under maintenance for another few hours
    Then account was not activated
When the activation link was not sent for several hours
Then the code was not sent
Then the code had already been claimed!
Then 48 hours "promotion" is up
    Terrible!

    • It hasn't ended yet…?

  • +1

I'm bamboozled by how to download this. Anyone else having trouble or had trouble but worked it out.

Under the list of downloads there are seven separate parts. I think I got the setup working for the first part but then it says it can't proceed without part six. I get the setup downloaded for part 6 but then that setup won't open.

If this problem isn't shared, then it must be a specific issue with my PC.

    • +2

You need to download all 7 parts, then simply run the first file which is the setup executable "setup_the_witcher_enhanced_edition_2.0.0.12.exe".

This will then extract the required files from the other 6 parts.

      • Thanks.

I ended up (reluctantly) downloading the (Steam equivalent) GOG Galaxy and it had a one-button download.

  • Never played any but the starts a good place right? Thanks for this!

    • +1

Yeah, another game to add to my pile of shame.
