  • Further 20% off if you purchased jetstar gift cards from Woolies last week!

    • That was 10%

      • I got 20% off for buying $50 cards

        • You only get 1000pts for $50 GC which is $5, how can you get 20% off?

        • @samehada: I paid for one $50 and on my reciept it said you have $10 to use next time. I buy another $50 and it said I pay $40 and on the new reciept it said I have $10… Must be a glitch in the system for me.

          @Turd:

I paid using eGift cards from CashRewards for another 5% off.

        • @maraco: That's a given

        • @Turd:

          I also only get 1000pts ($5) for $50 GC

        • @ccwwayne: strange! Coz I got 10. I have receipt too. Must be a system glitch

        • just had a store refurb at my local woolies which meant $10 for every transaction over $50 for a two week period. Maybe it was that? either way good find!

@bargainbenny: nah it wasnt that, i went to two different stores in different suburbs same thing lol

    • Is there a limit to how many gift cards you can use to buy flights etc? Any other issues to be aware of?

      • +1

        No limit

        • Great way to get triple amex points on your flights!

        • I think there is a limit of 10 gift cards per booking. I've never tried it though so this may be incorrect. Has anyone succeeded with more than 10 in a booking?

        • @maraco: I spoke to online chat they said no limit, although they could be talking out of their c holes.

        • @marquise: Is there a current deal right now for triple points? I don't seem to recall any recently

        • +1

@Zackyis: plat edge gets triple points for groceries

It's in the aisle with the international foods, or order it online. My local IGA has cold ones in the drinks fridge.

  • Why do these offers never exBrisbane?

    • I may be wrong, but don't think Jetstar flies to NZ out of Brisbane? There's very cheap fares out of Gold Coast though.

      • +2

I live equal distance between BNE and OOL airports so I just grab whatever's cheapest. My memory is Jetstar fly out of OOL to NZ

    • -2

Because Brisbane is a destination in itself

      • With the amount of flooding it sure is

    • just booked for Christchurch for school holiday

  • Queenstown is especially cheap.

But apparently not during ski season.

    • +4

wow its almost like its cheaper during off peak WHO WOULD'VE KNOWN

      • Some sales at least have September included, but apparently not this one. September is still ok for skiing, even in Australia.

  • We don’t have any deals from Adelaide today

    Boo

    • +7

Isn't Adelaide closed on Thursdays anyway ?

      • +1

Quite the opposite, we have late night shopping on Thursdays! (except the CBD, where the gates close at 5:30pm)

        • I think you meant Sydney JV

  • I only booked flights to Queenstown (End of July to early-mid August) a few weeks ago, and was going to be 10/10 triggered if these were for the same dates in the peak of the ski season. Thankfully not, but if you're not all that keen on snowboarding / skiing these prices are really solid.

  • site is struggling

  • Literally booked ZQN flights on Jetstar yesterday! Thank god for just outside these dates.

  • Thx

Just wanted to share my experience:

This ticket prices are very appealing and nz is very beautiful place to travel but need to consider other expense. Usually 1 AU$ = 1 NZ$

If you are looking to do road trip - consider the fuel price - in some places petrol price is as high as $2.20/L
In auckland - parking is very expensive in city. consider parking charge near or at your hotel.

Queenstown - all the activities are expensive and restaurants are slightly expensive too.

if you are couple or family with kids then you should plan your spending… it can go over the budget easily.
    Hope this helps someone.

Parking cost is nowhere near parking in SYD CBD

    • So If I just go to Auckland and stay in Backpackers I will have a cheap holiday?

      • good option if you are solo traveler and if you are hiring car then find someone to share the cost. You do not want to miss out on things to do and things to see, so may be save a bit on hotel and car polling is good option too.

Be advised to check the 2x 1-way ticket prices compared to a return flight.

CHCH to Gold Coast (relative coming to visit us) was AU$129 over, but higher AU$192 back, as a return flight.
Instead paid NZ$129 for the flight over, and only AU$129 back on the exact same date/time flight as above, as two 1-way flights.

Saved around $63 plus a win on the NZ exchange rate too, even after paying the NZ$8 booking fee.

Also if you dont have a fee-free Jetstar payment method, and you are going to pay using a regular credit card - do it via PayPal instead of entering the card details directly, as the fee is lower. 0.75% instead of 1% I think.

    • I remember years ago, Bpay was a way to avoid the pesky fee, right?

I always find searching for flights frustrating and time consuming.
I want a website that can meet my need in the following way:
I don't have specific dates or time frames when i plan to holiday, I have a rough idea how long i want to stay, but i just want the cheapest deal.

I would love if a website can allow me to input a) a date range of when i am willing to travel and then b) minimum and maximum days i am planning to holiday there.
So for example. Date range i am interested in is June to Oct 2017. Between 10 & 14 days.
The search function then brings up the cheapest available flights with those criteria in mind.

Global Survey ….. "WORST IN THE WORLD" Channel 9 11:40am

  • Did I miss something. MEL-ZQN $217 return. I went to their site and the cheapest I could find ended up being around $277 return once fees were added and before payment fees or seat booking etc. The screen shot is before Airport fees were added. This has happened since they updated their site. The fees used to be included in the sale price.

  • For those carrying a snowboard or ski's, jetstar charge an extra $25 per leg on top of your paid baggage, but then double dip by using up your paid baggage weight allowance as well. For my itinerary, I found Qantas and Emirates within $2 once baggage was calculated. Not including meals, then Emirates was cheaper.

  • Dammit, missed the sale. haha.

How often do these come on sale? do you reckon its worth waiting for the next sale for flights in November?
