Tested. Works for existing customers too. Thanks scotty.

  • Bought one, thanks.

Still waiting delivery from the previous order on 16/03/2017, contacted them this week, they are asking to wait another 6 weeks until mid June. So, good price but not a good experience with their shipping, one never delivered last year, other still waiting.

    • +4

ha! good luck with that…..theyll keep you waiting then theyll offer you a 50% refund or try to get you to pay a 2nd time to get your order.

went thru this in jan/feb this year.

      • +3

Agree - paypal dispute it now!

        • +3

….theyll blame their shipping company as well as you for not buying 'insurance'
dont settle for anything less than a full refund or just put in your paypal claim now if you want expedite the process

        • @franco cozzo:

all you need to do is threaten them with a paypal dispute, the dispute if they lose costs them $20 + COGS

        • +1

          @laurence:

the dispute if they lose costs them $20 + COGS

          Who told you that?

It only reverses the original PayPal payment, so they don't lose anything (unless they actually shipped it and it was lost).

And as it's not eBay, they don't have to worry about feedback.

        • @Scab:

I own my own business and paypal changed the T+Cs regarding disputes on 1 April, 2017. It use to only reverse the payment

        • @laurence:

Are you sure it's not for chargebacks?

They charge $20 for that in the US, but I'm not aware of any charges here.

          Do you have a link?

        • @laurence:

I've checked the User Agreement for claims, and there is no mention of a $20 charge: https://goo.gl/6xiojm

      • I also took a 50% refund after waiting over 60 days for an order placed in mid January (which has still not been delivered). Is it still worth disputing with Paypal at this point to try and get the extra 50% back, or should I just cut my losses?

    • +2

Same here as well.. Never again from GB :(

    • +1

I ordered from them in the previous sale too, and it only showed up last week.

It took so long that I actually forgot I had ordered it lol

      • Same here, mine arrived on Wednesday.

    • +1

I purchased some items from them on 17/03/2017 and only just received it yesterday, so it did take a longer than normal but got it eventually.

    • Same here. I forgot I had ordered it until this deal came up. Waiting until mid June is ridiculous, are they walking here? I guess I'll contact them and do the paypal dispute if they say that.

    • FWIW I received mine only this week.

    • +1

Same here, still waiting. Ordered on March 15th. At this point I'm assuming I'm never getting them. Might do a paypal dispute.

On the tracking page for it they have uploaded a blurry photo of a random package on a set of scales lol. I think this is what they call "tracking"? The tracking message is "Sorry, your shipping information has not updated yet!".

    • +1

      Same.

    • +1

Same. Paypal dispute raised today with the disclaimer that over 5 weeks have passed and although Registered post was my selected payment method no item was received. I mentioned in my dispute "seller stalling tactics" and suggested a full refund, and no other negotiations would be acceptable. Fingers crossed it sorts itself out soon.

    • Got mine today, QLD

    • Bingo! Ordered mine on 16/3 too and still waiting. Actually forgot I ordered them till I saw them advertised again.

    • Still waiting…..

  • Bought these, fantastic value, not 600 lumens, more around 100-150, check to make sure these are not DOA, recomend this.

  • You can only use the coupon once per account.

  • +10

scotty …why are gearbest allowed here when the reputation is so dodgy?
so many users have been burnt by this mob they have incredibly unreliable shipping and offer partial refunds after protracted periods of waiting for items that never arrive…whats the go?

    • +8

Use this thread to discuss GearBest issues. They have been banned before due to patchy delivery / item not received, but I believe the issue has been fixed (for some at least). I have purchased from GearBest frequently and so far 100% have been delivered, and often within 3 weeks. I also get good service from GeekBuying, but not so with Banggood — while others have no problem with them.

At the end of day OzBargain very rarely ban stores for bad services unless it's bad services have been received universally. On top of my head GearBest has been banned but later unbanned, and the only other store gets banned due to bad service is Android Enjoyed. If a store is generally bad you simply do not see people posting deals.

    • -2

Tinfoils hats on: Site founder posts Gearbest deal one can only think gear best gives cash under the table to not be banned here.

I am staggered they are still allowed here, one of the dodgiest sellers for sure i have seen

      • +4

        Get a grip.

      • +2

cdaddy I'd have to politely disagree. Gearbest treads the fine line between "stall as long as possible" and "fraudulently promise". I have received most items purchased, invariably after a delay which is inexcusable but the delivery does make it. When they were banned items were simply never received on a sitewide (Ozbargain membership) scale(including by me).

I feel that the only thing Gearbest management truly understand and react too, is "fighting fire with fire" ie the immediate PayPal dispute (100% agree, contacting them is a waste of time) or a site ban.

A special mention re the store rep here, Sunny, IMHO a genuinely cooperative person serving a mischievous management. Somewhat akin to the duties of a nation's ambassador.

      • cdaddy, like havebeerbelywillsumo noted, I also politely disagree. I have ordered at least 20 times in the last year from GB and all items have arrived within the timeframe noted but usually sooner (I keep a order log of dates of orders & delivery dates). My Xiaomi Mi Band 2 (noted on OzB 9 days ago)arrived yesterday (within 8 days) along with other items. Ok, that cost $2.58 shipping. The Free Shipping items usually arrive within 4 weeks. Perhaps I am lucky being in Sydney however just noting that overall have 100% good delivery record with GB (for what its worth)?

      • Nah, I cannot believe for a second that Scotty would take 'cash under the table'.
The way he and the staff have conducted themselves and the passion he has shown for the site over the years shows me the respect he has for this site as well as himself and I just could not imagine him doing it.
I have to admit that I don't know him from a bar of soap and he might be some criminal mastermind behind the scenes, but nah…

As for the store in question, I've done maybe 20 purchases over the years and had zero problems.

      • Your tinfoil hat would be welcome at other deal websites like Slickdeals and Hotukdeals. Slickdeals keep deals ontop that make them money and Hotukdeals ask stores for bribes. Neither of those happen here.

  • If you put in a 14500, would the brightness be a lot higher?

    • -1

      No.

    • +1

In the identical looking one I have with a 14500 it is a lot brighter probably double!

  • I got 2 last year. They are small and bright! I recommend them, especially this cheap.
Back then I bought the Yotaphone, and it came with faulty headphones. Seller gave me $20 back in GB vouchers. This was one of the things I ordered off that $20 back.

  • Is it a torch?
    Does it flash?

    • +1

No it doesn't flash, it's a torch, on/off only and zoom.

You could always clip it onto your bike, ride with one hand and zoom in and out with the other.

  • -4

Yeah, no chance this is a genuine Cree LED.

    • -2

      Proof?

      • +1

Have a search on eBay, torches with actual Cree LEDs go for much higher, the term 'Cree' is commonly used in cheaper variants from made in China.

        • +2

I dunno why you got downvoted so much, and I don't know why the guy asking for proof got downvoted too..

But I definitely agree with you. There are a LOT of counterfeit CREE leds, a simple google search will tell you.

I've bought one of gearbest's cheapo Q5 torches before - for the dollar or so i paid, it's good - but it's definitely not what it's advertised to be.

Anyone buying this thinking their getting an awesome 600lumen flashlight is kidding themselves.

  • Handy to keep in the car glove box.

    • You don't want to keep batteries in the glove box.

      • Any issues with gloves in the battery box?

  • It says GBLED only works for new customers
(too bad I already ordered 2x5 from the last sale so I can't be bothered making a new account and stuff to impulse buy more)

  • Thanks TA, just bought 2.

    • +4

      Thanks TA

Are you saying Scotty has a tight arse?

      • Woops, my mistake…

        • +1

          Woops, my mistake

So are you saying he has a loose arse?

  • Does those non-slip sticky car mat really works? I am concerned if I stick my phone and it will drop and break while I am driving or braking too hard.

    • Very sticky only had them for a week, so don't know how long the stickiness will last but so far so good. At this price going to purchase another.

      • I got one of those metal plate air vent type and even those sometimes drop my phone if I brake too hard or while driving.

    Cree XPE Q5 600Lm

First of all this is nowhere near the stated value. Chinese lumens at best. It's closer to ≈50lumens?
Also I can bet a great sum of money these aren't officially Cree licenced.(fake)

    Gearbest

    Yeah nah…
I have given the benefit of doubt far too many times.
Apparently it can take over a year for things to ship.
I ordered a transformers USB for ≈$12 last year and still haven't got it. Too bad I waited for PayPal dispute date to pass.
    OzBargainers beware.

    code expired.

    • Yeah, I checked and it's expired. Bummer.

  • Not sure what you guys expect for $2 torchlights but if it's bright and works, I'm sold.

  • Haven't bought one of these in a while. And by a while, I mean a few months.

  • Code doesn't work and only one hour boo!

  • Still haven't received mine from the last order (March).

  • The Code you entered has expired.

  • +1

Not to say they're not unreliable or that others haven't encountered issues, but have always received everything I've ever ordered from GearBest, including 5 torches from the last deal which arrived only yesterday.

    • +1

Agreed. I'm sure there are others who've had bad experiences but I ordered 40 of these from the last deal and received them last week and in fact have received all my GearBest purchases. Over the years I've learnt to be patient with any Chinese supplier/seller and not to expect the goods any sooner than 3-4 weeks from the day of payment unless Express Postage has been arranged. Any longer is definitely annoying but any sooner I make sure I let the supplier/seller know I appreciated the speedy delivery. It's pretty simple… if you want stuff sooner you don't buy from China but what really bugs me are the eBay sellers who make a big song & dance about their products being local stock but still take 4 weeks to deliver. That's lower than low.

      • -1

I ordered 40 of these from the last deal

        Hi Broden.

        • Ha, I wish! Nah, just getting started with the stocking stuffers for Christmas 2017! These are excellent token gifts for neighbours as I've done it in the past but have since moved so I plan to do it again after the success of the last lot :) Takes AGES to wrap them all tho but kinda fun with a beer (or six).

  • Yea fake emitter you can usually tell if they show you a pic of LED or not. If you look up other cheap lights you will notice that they have pics of the LEDs meaning they are real. This light is missing that pic.

For the price does it really matter?
This light has a hollow pill so a proper emitter would be a waste. Still a better buy then those 9 LED lights you pay 3-5 times more for!

  • Just got mine from previous deal, and the emitters look genuine, with bars on the emitter. Colour is good.
